I truly enjoyed the care you put into washing her hair in the beginning. I have type 4C hair very similar to your daughters and I’ve come to learn over the years the importance of sectioning the hair before wash. Doing that has significantly reduced breakage and tangling. So seeing you do that with her long beautiful hair lets me know I’m doing the right thing.

The tight ponytails with the rubber bands are a no-no. Why not just plait the hair? It’s a much healthier (and looser) choice that prevents tangling and puts less stress and tension on the follicles.

@@erin17go : I wasn’t going to say this, but I struggled with length retention my whole life, always plateauing around armpit length. After going on a hair health and growth journey in middle age, my hair is past hip length and has been for years. My point is, I know what I’m talking about. I rarely use hair ties of any kind. If I do I am very selective and won’t use anything that can snag. Satin scrunchies are a good choice. I don’t wear buns or ponytails and if I did, I would never make them this tight or use rubber bands.

When you don't comb it and manipulate 4c hair it grows just the same as locks grow.4c hair is delicate because it's so curly coily.
