Thank you so much for sharing your tips. I'm a life-long crafter and just started to learn a bit about filming. Right now I'm working on lighting because I film everything after my kids go to bed. I so appreciate other creative people sharing things that it probably took you years to learn!

I think the most important tip that many others leave out in tutorials such as these is the “don’t be afraid to just do it” that you mention at the end. I’ve watched so many tutorials on the best this or the best that, and I have yet to make something I want. I think your video singlehandedly has given me that extra little push to just make something and get out there. The fancier stuff can come with time. 💕 thank you for your informative video.

4:41 Shadows - you can use reflectors to soften the shadows. A reflector is anything white from which the light can bounce of and give a nice diffused light. This kind of light management can be done with sheets, paper or reflectors from the photo-shop.

You are so encouraging. I have been told that as a Realtor I need to use video but I hate my strong Southern Accent. And it’s not going away anytime soon.
@DonnaJo34526 жыл бұрын
Jana Giraud Hi Jana I’m from the south so love southern accents! I think you should proceed with videos and be who you are. We are each more critical of ourselves. You would probably be surprised at how much people like your accent or don’t even notice it because theirs is just like yours! True story, My sister went to some sort of voice classes to tone down her accent but what’s weird is everybody says we still sound just alike even though she doesn’t think so!

Dearest Simon....I have watched a ton of videos on 'how to get started making YT tutorials' and I have to say that for me, yours is the BEST! You gave a lot of great info and covered everything I need to get started. Now I just need you to do another video on 'getting up the courage to start' LOL! Thanks Simon!

Thank you so much. I have a few videos that I've uploaded but I know very very little on how to video or edit :D Like many crafters I want to use my channel to have a type of video journal of my creations but find it intimidating to figure out what software lighting etc to use. I am in awe at what you have accomplished at such a young age. Kudos to your family support, extra plug to your mom, you make her look good :D

Thank you so much for creating this video. It was so helpful and easy to follow all your steps. I've been thinking about creating video tutorials for my craft projects, but as an older person, I'm not very tech-savvy so have been a bit intimidated. Your tips on starting small and using the equipment I already have is great.

Hi Simon. Thanks for being so generous with your advice. I’ve been watching your videos for several years. I don’t know if you had been on very long when I first found you. But I enjoy them and I love watching you grow and become more professional overtime. I’m going to do what you suggest and just do it! I started filming a project a week or so ago, but I have no editing or voiceover yet. I’m doing it mostly for skills learning. Maybe I’ll post it someday, maybe not, but I appreciate the encouragement and the advice that you put into this video. I have a lot of your products. They work really well For cards for My sons, who are pretty much the same age as you. Love what you’re doing, hope you keep it keep it up and hope you make millions! 🥰😂👏🏻

Thanks for showing us how you film and edit. Wow it looks professional! And it seems like more than 4 years that I’ve been watching you on yt! So excited such a young person is paper crafting! Are any of your friends interested in card making too?

What an encouraging video! I've just started out and for an old fogey like me, its not very easy!! I'm in the process of filming my third vlog (first one I am sooo embarrassed about, but I'm not going to take it down, as I would like to see the improvements I make, 2nd one goes live tomorrow). I have no idea how it will go and if people will like my content, but I'm guessing I wont know until I try!

Simon, great job and I really appreciated all of the information you shared! There is something I thought I would point out. When your are filming and narrating (as opposed to doing voice over) there is an echo in your craft room. This is probably because of all the hard surfaces with nothing soft to absorb the sound. You may want to look at some acoustic baffles that you can place out of the view of the camera. They are inexpensive on Amazon. Just a thought. And, thanks again for all of your great videos.

Hi Simon. This was great. When I started out I could find virtually nothing on how to shoot close up crafting videos so this will help so many! I’ve got a small following but love all my subbies and I need to bring up my game for them. Your tips gave me a bunch of ideas. Just curious how the camera video transfers to your computer. Is it an SD card? Also, do you transmit your live video to a monitor so you can see what you’re doing? Thx so much! Janet
