I am a retired Montessori teacher of toddlers and can remember how sometimes the classroom became slightly chaotic with 10-12 little ones; some in diapers, some being potty trained... The #1 trick was to remain calm, take a deep breath, and try my best to attend to everyone's needs. Prayer often helped too. But, humor was often the most helpful; to laugh was what often put things into perspective. I could've been a stand up comic with my classroom stories!! Motherhood is the hardest job there is. You're doing your best. Thank you for sharing your heart. It will help so many others.

Thank you for that beautiful message Andrea! When I feel like it's a really bad day for me, my favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11-14 11 For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare, not for woe! plans to give you a future full of hope. 12 When you call me, when you go to pray to me, I will listen to you. 13 When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart, 14 you will find me with you, says the Lord, and I will change your lot. In those scripture God wants us to know that He is there ready to hold our hand through these hard times, and His plans for us are great. And i am so sorry about your family member that passed and left behind her children, I know so many cases like this, and it's so tough to understand the reasons, but there definitely is one. And I've witnessed God illuminating the path for many of those children's fathers and family members to lead the way for these children! 🙏🏽😊

This is my favorite verse, I have it scripted and framed over my bed. I found this verse by chance during a weird traumatic situation about 16 years ago, and it has never left me and helped ground me in the toughest of situations. Yes! As Andrea is telling her tough-day story, Im laughing nervously and nodding because I have been there so many times! All mom's are such warriors, pushing through those challenging moments each day, through various stages of our children's growth, and our roles are so crucial! Like Andrea says, even in those tough moments the pause and prayer are so beneficial to responding in more positive ways.

Yes, others have endured real tragedies and real loss, but that does not mean YOU never experience stress or never have hard days. Your perspective is right on. Don’t wish days away and look forward to your children getting older. Stay in the moment. Messes of all kinds can be cleaned up. Having a baby in your home is soul. I lost my youngest son many years ago. It never gets easier. Love your children no matter what the day brings. You seem like such a good mother…..don’t be hard on yourself. Keep enjoying your family, keep praying and keep loving the Lord. You’ve got this.

Andrea, as a grandmother and after having my own children, intermittently babysitting my grandchildren (which I absolutely love 💗) I can have those same feelings at times. Many times I have asked for strength, while raising my own children. They’ve all grown to be wonderful parents to their children. I now tell my grandchildren, “Please don’t grow up so fast!” as time seems to go by faster as we get older. We are so very blessed!

It's amazing how this came up today. My grandson that will turn 15 in November lives with me. He is having bad allergy problems right now, and you would think , from the way he is acting, that he was one step away from seeing Jesus face to face. When I was getting ready to advise him differently, God gave me Luke 6:36. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Needless to say, it was asking for forgiveness time on my part.

One of the greatest blessings of homeschooling was it gave me time with my children. Time that is so easy to fritter away with busyness. As a mom to 10, my days have been busy but homeschooling gave me so much time with my children. I have been homeschooling for 30+years and our youngest is a high school sophomore so I only have a few years left. Homeschooling was the best decision we have made as parents and I will forever be thankful that we took that step of faith when homeschooling was so new and went for it. Enjoy these days😊

Andrea, you have an enormous amount of wisdom for someone so young. I'm now a grandmother, but can well remember the hectic days of small children and their many needs and demands. My daughter has twins, so talk about "double chaos." But you are right, when it all starts to crash, we can stop, take deep breathes, not yell or shout, say a quick prayer and eventually it all falls back into place. I like your idea to "choose joy." I also like the saying, "We often can't control the circumstances in our lives. But we can always control how we respond."
@tori99513 жыл бұрын
Andrea, thank you for saying “it’s not as serious as what other people go through..” it’s so true. I have two small kids and I work from home and I feel the same way you do at times. I really feel your struggle but I also remind myself that somewhere there is a mother struggling to just feed their child, somewhere a mother is holding her child’s hand while going thru chemo and wish they had our “struggle” it doesn’t diminish our struggle, it’s still valid… but when I put that into perspective it helps me BIG time. Yes your comment on a choice is so true. My husband and I often pray and ask God to keep giving us the strength to keep going. Another thing is having built in “days off” sometimes we need a few hours to go for a walk (without kids) visiting a book shop, taking a nap for an hour or two while the hubby takes the kids to the park.

I remember so vividly those “ hard” moments and later we adopted a little girl from China and she is turning 22 and it feels like a few months ago we got off the plane with her . I recall feeling outnumbered by my children and at times feeling defeated. I made the decision to remember that it's better to join these children's simplistic mindsets than to challenge my own perfection. I called on the Lord often. Mom life is tough!!! Find joy in the later moments at the humor of it all. You made me so tickled, not at your circumstances, but at how children are. I taught 1st and 2nd grade for years and I know how little ones depend on adults and how cute their situations can be, though frustrating as well. Look back and laugh. Your little baby is so precious in your cuddle shirt. You are doing this! You are WINNING! You know that God is watching you and with you. Your boys love you and look up to you and you are being there for them. One day you will realize that these days are the best ones. "This too shall pass" is a phrase that you can say as you're feeling frustrated. Within a matter of minutes things can calm down. I'll be honest with you, I never had what you have and it was all I ever wanted. Cherish it, as I know you do. Love to you, my dear.

Taking a deep breath and releasing the stress does help tremendously no matter what the cause of the stress. Sometimes it's important to take a step back to remove yourself from the situation and look at everything from a different perspective. It sounds like that is what you're doing and it's working to keep your emotions from escalating out of control. Children definitely do better in a household where their is structure and the parents exhibit a calm demeanor. Children become scared when they witness their parents become out of control. It's important that your children feel safe. You're doing a great job! And I love how you choose joy as your path!

Andrea, no one truly knows unless they have been in such situations; not even most husbands. I know. I understand. For 13 years, non-stop, I traveled to work & take one child to baby sitter & the other two to school & their school was in front of where I worked. We lived an hour away from my job & by the time I was done doing this, it had been 90min. Then I would repeat the process in the evening. The home to cook, homework, baths, cleaning, etc. I went into a dark & deep depression. After 13 years I had a nervous breakdown. My life & health changed. I developed fibromyalgia after that. I was never the same. You’re doing SO good. You are a GREAT mom & YES…it’s OK to let go of everything else. Work will ALWAYS be there but not your little ones. You have a BIG blessing to be a stay at home mom. Yes, we have MANY, so many blessings - praise God!! Keep reaping those blessings!! 🌻❤️🌻🎈🤗❤️🥰🌷🌻

I miss those days of my little ones, and it does seem as if you blink and they are grown! Keep on trusting the Lord and looking to Him each day! You are so right that a grateful heart gets you through!! You are one blessed Mommy!! Thank you choosing to share your heart in a post like this, I am praying that God will use your words to encourage and bless others as well!! I know I was blessed by your words!! My teenage daughter (my youngest) has gone through some difficult times recently and so much of what you shared is exactly how I have been encouraging her through her struggles!! I also think of the children's song JOY--JESUS, OTHERS, then YOU--what a wonderful way to spell joy!! 🥰 Thank you again for your vulnerability to share your heart!! The struggles of motherhood are real, but oh so worth it!! ❤️ And by the way, your boys are so precious!! I love seeing your interaction with them!!

You listed all the best things! But also, try to remember to laugh. We all know we'll be looking back on these crazy moments and laughing in a day ... a week ... or a month. It relieves so much stress to learn to laugh sooner. You've got this Mama--you're doing GREAT !!!! 🍁♥️🍁

As long as they’re are healthy 🤍🙏🏼 Yes, I know it’s very hard to be a mother at times 🤍 We’re going through tough times with my nephew he’s was just diagnosed with ITP what is it? He has very low platelets and they have to take him to the ER every time his nose bleeds 😩. Pray always🙏🏼 You have a beautiful family God Bless you. Thank you for you message.

Thank you for sharing. The way you react will be the way your children will learn to react in situations, so you are teaching them to choose joy and thankfulness in all circumstances. You are also teaching them to lean on God and trust Him when they hear you pray.

This video was such a Godsend! I am a momma of 3 littles (5 and under) and this week has been full of hard days! Unfortunately I reacted in my flesh and not in the Spirit. I do this too often so I really appreciate you sharing this. I am going to start breathing, praying and finding JOY!

So wise you are Mama! Happy you reflected and put it all in perspective. I had only 2 children but 14 months apart and I was always so busy, the youngest was colicky and cried for 8 mos. Thought I would lose my mind. She spent the first 2 yrs on my hip. Would go to no one else. I had no family around to help either. Just me and my babies. Love is what got me through. When they became teens it was just as exhausting but in more of an emotional way. Busy schedules with all their activities and worrying about social influences. You still dont sleep because you wait up for their safe return home. They are in their 40s now and wonderful, kind souls. So although very hectic now, these hassles are the small things in the big picture. Remember...you are the Mom and you still know best for them. They think you know everything and can do everything. Savor it now. You are doing a great job Mama and like others have commented....laugh at the craziness,

Andrea, I love this. Yes, as a mom of 3 grown sons, I too had these moments where life was so chaotic and I felt like I couldn’t take a breather…but do and do call on the Lord for help and He will. I remember one particular moment when I too had a day like you did where everything fell apart at once and I did loose it with my kids… Later on when talking to my mom and telling her about my day…she in her gentle way reminded me of how convenient it was to fill the bathtub with warm water and quickly bathe the kids and put a load of dirty clothes in the washer and dryer, to fill the dishwasher so the dishes are not sitting on the counter or sink…and putting on the self clean oven after a messy overspill in the oven. I quickly remembered how she didn’t even have a clothes washer with 4 children and had a wood burning stove that had to have a fire built before she could even wash dishes. They did get modern conviences after that like electricity, running water ( hot water came years later) etc. There were 7 of us siblings in total. Times were hard but they also were full of laughter and character building. …Blessings to you…

such a wise young lady you are, we should cherish every moment we have with our children, as you mentioned time flies, and before you know it they're off to college, just like my daughter, it seems like yesterday I was holding her in my arms and now she's 20 years old young lady junior in out of town college. I'm missing her every moment💖🥲

Hi Andrea. Reminding yourself of your blessings is so huge! There are women who have to leave their babies and children at day cares while they work. You are so blest to be able to mold your little ones minds into a loving, respectful, Christian environment. I think you know what I mean. You have an awesome privilege given to you by God! And yes it's very demanding at times. You are a very special Momma and your boys are learning so much just by watching how you handle things. One suggestion that may help is to play Christian music or even classical music or old hymn's. There is a list if you Google that are found on youtube. There are even songs with no lyrics played on the guitar. Music can just set the mood. That's all I have. You are doing so well after having Isaiah. I had some postpartum blues that sometimes when I felt overwhelmed, I would cry and then it would magically pass. Kinda like letting the steam out of a pressure cooker! Lol! Anyway, I hope you understand, I'm not to good at explaining. I will tell you this, someday they will be grown and you will miss this time. I know cause I'm there now. Oh, it might help also to keep a journal, if your able. I will tell you this, God has given you everything you need to be a wonderful Momma to your little ones! You are so precious and I am sending you a Big hug from Texas! 😊🇨🇱

Beautiful video and such wise tips. Thank you. I’m a mother and grandmother and what I would give to do it all over again. I had a stressful career while raising my kids and wasn’t fully present. I get afraid thinking about some memories my kids have of me stressing out on them. Anyway, thank you for sharing
