What I’ve learnt in this video 1. Work on holidays and weekends. If you work on the days where u don’t have school, you probably can get like 100+ more days of work 2. Wake up earlier/Sleep later. When you wake up very early or sleep very late, no one’s around to distract u. Use this time to get more work done. 3.This is what hard will feel like. When you first do the thing, it will be very hard, but as time passes you’ll get used to it

So, All that is vouched by Ruff today actually works Believe me or not, I have been doing this myself since the past 3 months, I scored very low in the Mid-Sems in my 2nd Semester, so that was dropping my yearly average to 6.7 SGPA, well I ditched the notion of work-life balance and got straight into work for like 2 months, I am currently at the 1st year average of 7.8 SGPA, I know its the significant jump that I was expecting, but I build a system during this time, I played the long game, the marathon, I extrapolated this concept into my life during the summer break too, and I am into UX/UI design and stuff around it, I am seeing the results now. I know this is tempting to just get burnout and ditch the entire thing, but avoid that. I did and now I am getting better by better. Thank you Ruff for putting this video online, and thanking you for reading this!

The question is if working all the time as suggested, as in during weekends and holidays, wouldn't it be worse for your mental health and other aspects of your life. I mean, these days are there for a reason, to take a break and recharge for the next week or year of school (depending on weekend or break). And for many students, this may be the time they go back to their home countries to visit family, where it might not be the best idea or the most ideal to do work/learn (maybe up to an hour a day, which is still significant, but not much more). Another counter-point I would like to make is that in many school systems, such as my own, I would have to wake up at 5 to get to school at 7, and I know others that may need to get up even earlier, so waking up earlier is just not possible or practical. I would like to add on to the better point that was made which is to set aside an hour or two everyday, and if you aren't able to find this time, keep track of all the time you may be spending on social media for example, and see if you can take these small amounts of time, which may be right after you come back from school, or during breaks in your homework. And then when you have a weekend or a holiday, spend all of that time, actually taking a break (not on social media, but going outside etc.), and then come back recharged for the next week or year. Balance is key.

I don’t believe in balance but yeah this routine definitely isn’t for everyone. That’s why the title and video is “How I” do it. It’s just how I find time in my day - not what everyone should do. You can use the example I gave. Instead of working sat & sun, just work saturday and take sunday off. This is what I do - adapt it for ur own life.

@@ItsMeRuff Balance can be important though, to not only prevent mental health problems or burnout, but also to spend time with others you love, like your family or friends. It may even be helpful for our goals to just take a moment, for example weekends and breaks, to just step back and look at the bigger picture. It can provide new perspectives, as when we are always with ourselves, it can be easy to always think in a certain viewpoint, but when with others, it may open our eyes to different ways that we may have never thought of, not to mention the serotonin boost you get from spending time with others, playing a sport, or watching a new movie :) I'm open to hear your perspective though, I am always willing to learn if I can improve.

Alright the part of the video I think was most important is that You must be aware of which mode you are in every hour of the day. One of the things I’m worried about is putting all my energy into only 1 or 2 things. It sounds weird, but I’m worried of losing my skills in the other fields. I guess this is just the way to make good progress fast?
@Netherite0_0
@Netherite0_0 2 ай бұрын
Yah that's interesting, because if I stop stretching for a month, I will lose an inch of my splits. If I stop learning French on Duolingo, I will forget some grammar and words. I think you could still spend 15 mins a day, if it's already a habit, on a few other passions and goals as well
@redfinance3403
@redfinance3403 2 ай бұрын
@@Netherite0_0 yes that good advice but for some skills (and especially at more advanced levels) maintaining that skill requires a good chunk of your day and even if 15 mins is sufficient (or so it seems), if the other 1 or 2 things you put your energy into are very mentally demanding / requiring the learning of new content you can easily lose your skills within other fields. The brain is like a cache and it will form strongest connections to what is being used most frequently, so other things can begin to slip up quite easily if not in consistent use, along with good time spent. But there has to be some balance and it is very situation dependant. Maybe someone who has put all their energy into 1 or 2 things will respond to my comment and reply on how that affected them (i was curious as it was a concern)

This is so motivating, I think cause it helps me visualize myself doing the side gig I want, and because it helps my belief that I can do it. Cutting out the phone time or wasted time and unproductive time is good as well. Also, I haven't been as productive because of a lack of sleep, so I need to work on that. Any tips?

The thing is that my school starts at 7, and my school mode starts from 5:30 because of travel time, etc. I really don't think waking up at 4 or 5 is going to be good for me as I'll be half asleep, tf am I supposed to do? ...I'm really worried for senior high. I'm going to the best school in the division and I can say I'm already used to sacrificing my weekends and sleep while maintaining good mental health and sleep. Visualizing my schedule for when the new school year starts: (vacation rn) All I think about/goals: Maintain excellent performance in school/high grades Making art Growing following on instagram and starting on tiktok Maintaining my tribe (best friends that help me stay sane) I'll wake up at 5 am, get ready for school, at 6 am its transportation. If no traffic, get there by 6:45 then sign in on the fingerprint scanner. At 7 its the flag ceremony and cleaning the classroom. At 8 classes start, ends at 4 pm. We clean the classroom, chat for a bit then go home at 5 pm. I get home at 6 pm if there's not too much traffic. Hopefully there's not too many assignments and projects and I can do them at school- but if not, I'll be done with school at 7 pm. 7-8 eat dinner, do chores for a bit. At 8-9 I chat with my online friends (they keep me sane) and get dressed and wash my face (my acne is ok now but if I slip up it breaks out) ...regrettably here's where my bad habits start as I go on my phone for 2 hrs mindlessly scrolling until I go to sleep at 11. In vacation or holidays I do just mostly relax and only do work 1/4 of the time (not counting art) I just realized: I'm gonna have to sacrifice all of my extracurriculars as I had the habit of running for the student council, being president of a language club, being a scout, etc...since it requires to stay more hours at school and I can't afford to do that anymore. And maybe I need to stop joining every contest I see that won't actually benefit me...I always grab opportunities but sometimes its a short term goal that doesn't benefit the long term ones. My dream really is to be an artist, making commissions and making money through my following. But I have to make it priority 2 it for the more practical option of going for political science (major) economics(minor) in the future.😭😭😭.....not being forced into it, im also good at this...but its second to my art. Why art? its my passion and it really keeps me alive. On Saturday I spend half the day doing school work for projects or performance tasks that need catching up. Half of the day is spent making more art or social media management. On Sundays our church is far but we always go there, its in a mall (faith is important and even if I'm too tired my parents force me to go) after I buy things to sell to schoolmates at the mall (my parents give me capital) since my allowance isn't really enough to last me...(I need load and extra money) I mean its enough only for transportation and food but I need data for schoolwork. .....I will have no free time- eh I'm used to it. Tho I always do my schoolwork and art in advance at school since the teachers sometimes don't teach or just assign us stuff (Philippines) btw I'm 15 going on 11th grade this year. I am grateful to God for giving me good mental health, being charismatic, and good base intelligence🤧 I was able to maintain this in junior high because of the free time at school when there's no teachers or just "self study" time so I'm able to do all my schoolwork in advance. What if its not the same at my new school and its even stricter than science class (junior high)? man...life is hard for us and there are definitely times I get mental breakdowns or get distracted by my crush😃 ....any advice? I seriously think I'm doing the best that I can. Anywho, I love your videos kuya Ruff🤩 they've helped me so much and is different from other self improvement videos.

Hey everyone, I’m seeking advice or maybe this situation might relate to you. I’m not sure where to start my journey as I’m lost, not knowing what tasks to do. I know about the basics of self improvement, eg delayed gratification, flow state etc… but sometimes I’m stuck at the point where I do not know what I can do for the day. It just stops me from taking any action as I have zero clue what I wish to do for the day. Maybe this feeling is most common after exams, where there will be no goal for you to strive towards to as everything has finished. Do you guys have any advice to tackle this situation of feeling lost, stopping you from being productive?

I think that a reason might be that you might not really be interested in or enjoying what your learning, maybe thinking that the end goal is the marks for example. I think instead you should think about what you enjoy and want to expand on more, it may be math, science, cs, making videos, etc. and spend a bit of time everyday, maybe an hour, to learn more about or work on this aspect. This way, you are able to learn without the constraints of school or only thinking that the end goal is the marks. For example, I am doing a free course on CS this summer called HarvardX CS50 which has been really interesting, if you wanna check it out, otherwise, go deeper on a topic you enjoy :)
