Thanks for posting this - I just purchased a 48t Wolf Tooth chainring for my shimano grx crankset. I’m picking up some 24mm x .5mm diameter spacers to widen out that crank clearance. I’m running SRAM drivetrain with a mullet GX AXS Eagle derailleur. Man thanks for posting this. I’ve been experimenting a bit with pushing the boundaries of my Aspero as well. I’ve fit 700x45c Pirelli Centurato RC’s on and so far no, so good (a little tight in the clearance though). I’ve also added tubolite gravel inserts in both wheels. Have you experimented with inserts yourself yet? Def worth giving a shot if you haven’t! I’ll follow back and let you know how everything went man !

Thanks for sharing man really appreciate it. I have thought about putting 45s myself but wasn’t sure about it. I’ll be very interested on your results please check back. I haven’t use inserts myself but was thinking about it for unbound what do you think? Cheers 🤙🏽.

Do u think a 2 x 48/35 chainring also fits?
@DennisGonzalez101
@DennisGonzalez101 3 ай бұрын
I have a friend that had a Shimano one with bigger than 48/35 and it fits very tight but it fits. Can’t remember exactly what size his is but I want to say 50 outer with whatever inner that takes on a road ultegra crank set.

Are u running force axs “wide version” or the normal force axs road derailleurs?
@DennisGonzalez101
@DennisGonzalez101 3 ай бұрын
I don’t believe so because my spindle just said DUB it doesn’t say wide anywhere. If I had that wide spindle then I don’t believe doing this was necessary it should’ve work but I haven’t tried.

@@DennisGonzalez101 thanks mate for the input. I just recently purchased an aspero 5 frame and keen on using my old sram red groupset from my roadbike. I wanted to retain the red crank set however my lbs suggested i run it with dub wide. I ended up buying a wide dub force srank ark assembly (since they don’t offer it in red version” for 2 x. Will let u know once the build is finished. 😄

Very interesting. This is definitely more cost effective than buying the wide crankset.

That’s exactly what I been telling other people commenting about buying the wide crankset. If this option wouldn’t had work then that would have been my next step for sure. But so far so good 😊.

Hey Dennis - are you running Dub Wide? If not, With dub wide do you think this would be necessary?
@DennisGonzalez101
@DennisGonzalez101 5 ай бұрын
Honestly I’m not sure because the spindle does not say wide on it but from the specs it says that it is a dub wide but not sure. If is not then changing the spindle to Dub Wide means this won’t be necessary and u should be ok.

i got a mtb with a max 34t chainring and im gonna be racing that MTB on gravel mainly. im trying to figure out how to put a 40 or 42t on, id have to get the sram rival cranks and put a 1x on the outside to maybe get it to work. or try maybe with a shimano 105 crank i have laying around first... if it works im gonna make a video about it too.

That sounds like a fun little project. I love those 😂. Love thinking outside the box, it feels so good when u actually get your ideas to come alive. Good luck 🤙🏽. Would definitely love to see the vid if it does end up working.

Best bet is to run a 55 or 56.5mm chainline cranks. Running 38t ovals no issues on a few MTBs.

Well when you live on the flats like I do it makes a huge difference in efficiency. Not so much the size of the big ring but keeping the chain line straight because it allowed you to be in the middle of the cassette. Funny everyone thinks world tour guys are using massive chairing just because of the size.
