I don't think you should be embarrassed about the make up situation. It's very real and relatable. I don't remember the last time I cleaned my make up brushes or renewed my makeup. Although I should probably start doing that too 😂

what i do to not forgot is keep the dirty brushes on top of the sink, so it sits as a reminder! or i wash it immediately if i have the time :) (im not as good with cleaning everyday brushes tho, this only applies to eyeshadow brushes basically lol)

I watched this video 2 days ago and had to come back to it because I thought about what you said repeatedly. You are not disgusting because of your old make up, the brushes or your pillow sheets. The unwashed brush might be dirty and bad for your skin but that does not make YOU disgusting. You have a wonderful, *glowing* (hehe) personality and show so many people on the internet amazing new things! You are lovely. And there's no way old make up, an unwashed brush or rarely changed bet sheets could change that fact about you. So repeat after me: I am not disgusting. Love you and your content! Have a lovely week!

Another one is having the towek you dry your face with not be in the bathroom, but perhaps on a hook on the outside of the door. Towels kept in your bathroom picks up on the bacteria that spreads when you use the toilet.. same with bath towels. Keeping your toothbrush in the cupboard and maybe a pile of face towels that you wash after every use could also help. ❤

It took me more years than i like to admit to learn that it doesn't necessarily matter what you use (cheap, expensive) but that you use it consistently. It's nice to have your standards and then pop in a new thing every once in a while to try out cause it always does give you a little pop of freshness!

Honestly, the least expensive thing I did for my skin was go to a dermatologist. They gave me free samples, tips about my diet, and a cheap, mild prescription for hormonal acne. Instead of buying a bunch of expensive products, I can now use a cheap Target cleanser.

Thank you for your videos! As a former streamer, I understand how frightening it is to put yourself out there in a vulnerable way. But thank you so much for doing what you do, because it's so relatable. We get to see the whole process of whatever you are going through for the video, not just the good stuff. That's what reaches people. It reaches me, and I've really enjoyed watching you discover yourself and discover good habits; and it inspires me to do the same: if something isn't working for me in life, try something different!

Hi makari!! As a dude trying to figure out the world of skincare while taking your approach into consideration, i have a few q's: 1. what is your acne histo like (as in, why did you choose now to do a skincare vid and what led up to this point)? 2. what is you skin type? I think some of the products you mentioned may be more or less effective for people with a certain skin type! 3. why did you choose the products you did? 4. what was the overall goal here (outside of clear skin, did you seek to remove scars, current acne, etc.)? I don't wear face products, e.g., makeup or even spf (i know, i probably should), but loved the approach! Thanks for the guidance! :)

You know, I don’t wear makeup often so i never use up my old makeup despite having a very small collection. I’m also washing my brush ( I have only one) only a couple times a year. My makeup are 4-5 years old AND i don’t like wearing them cuz I always get a pimple afterwards and THIS MIGHT BE WHY. I can’t say enough how much I appreciate your honesty sharing your makeup situation. This is not common knowledge. I’ve never known this. Someone’s gotta talk about it and I appreciate that you are. Hope this helps balance out any negative comments that might come to you. In my opinion, if they’re not in the same arena, putting out personal videos too, they don’t get to judge. I’m gonna change up my makeup situation now thanks to your advice :)

And tell me why I never even thought of doing my pillowcases with the rest of my weekly laundry?? I'll take this video as a call-out and try to do better 🤣

Thank you ! I always laugh watching your videos and I enjoy it ! I also like the fact that you just say things naturally, and you are a normal person. Talking about me, I just don't wear any make-up at all now. Tried it a few months sometimes, but I find it itchy, and I don't like the fact that I have to pay attention to not touching my face or eyes when I wear make-up. Bonus of not wearing make up : no need to take it off at night ! And I don't believe any more anything the cosmetics industry says. For about 15 years now I think, I only wash my face with "savon de marseille" (a good one) and put on it only things I could it : some oil (changing types of oils, now it is avocado oil, that I find in an organic store, in the food section), and sometimes pure aloe vera. And no change in my face, looks the same (except for the wrinkles of course) !

Honestly it's so refreshing to have some Disgusting Person representation, I am an absolute dirtbag in actuality but not in aesthetic, and it's something I'm genuinely super self-conscious about because it's something people genuinely don't know/expect about me and when/if they find out it's like, a Thing. And I also have more pimples than I know I would if I kept my face cleaner and washed my pillowcases more and stuff so. Nothing but respect for starting where you started and for saying at the end that the skincare stuff is fun and effective but probably not necessary.

I've hung on to old makeup for frugal and eco-conscious reasons so don't feel bad... I bet there's a lot of grossness going on in most makeup stashes. The only makeup I own now is an eyebrow pencil because I went to the trouble of replacing an old eyeliner with e.l.f. (which is supposed to be a clean/quality brand) and my eyes had a terrible reaction to it.

As your first step in your nighttime routine recommend ditching micellar water. It doesn't do a good job of removing make up. Highly recommend "clean it zero" by Banil. It's a cleansing balm that breaks down makeup and sunscreen. Rinse and then use your normal foaming cleanser after. With how little acne you truly have I think this and light retinol or salicylic acid every other night will probably stop all your problems.
