I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes rear wipers. Drives me nuts when I see someone not using theirs on a rainy day. Hahaha. Hopefully buying my first e39 wagon soon. I have had a sedan before and loved it. Also an e28 and a x5 e53 I believe. Keep the videos coming. New subscriber!

Great helpful video ! Thank you :)... My e39 2001 wagon rear wiper generally won't work, but once in a while will actually wipe and gets stuck in mid wipe-stroke and stays like that , no matter what i do with the wiper switch at the steering wheel. I also have that "TRUNK LID OPEN" message displayed for few seconds when i first drive off on most trips, ...then the message disappears for the rest of trip! So maybe my motor is still ok (??). I'll try what you say . Please advise how do you make the striker "come out" ? -Just unscrew it Counterclockwise? Thanks !

The manipulation point is on on your instruments. Means: it was messed with your milage

Dear Chris, I like your Videos and you speak very clear english. Your manipulation point in your speedometer can you fix with BMW Scanner V1.4, it means your VIN and odometer from speedometer and LCM does not match. Greetings from Germany

Cheers man got my m5it up and running too.. cannot figure out why only the passenger corner celis lights up.. the brake lights emit but the other 3 celis do not.. assuming wiring harness has corroded over time. It worked this summer, but now its a little damp.. I even swapped out new tail. getting discouraged.. if you have any input let me know thanks .

Sounds like you have the facelift tail lights with LED and they aren't working correctly? I'm not sure exactly, would recommend checking fuses, wiring, connectors, and worst case the light control module could be bad. Good luck mate, congrats on joining the M5 Touring club!

tried turning mine but it's just stuck solid, threw some pb blaster on it hopefully it loosens up enough to remove it tomorrow

I was hoping you would show how to replace the tailgate open button and how to fix the rear wiper stuck. It is a real problem to do it as the wiper axle is made of aluminium and it gets corroded often. Another pro tip: should you ever need to replace the tailgate glass, pre face lift glass is not interchangeble with face lifted models due to latch difference. However, it is possibile to replace the whole set - rear trunk and tailgate.

any tips for testing why the button for the tailgate glass might not work?

Best thing is to use INPA or a scanner to read if the button is being pressed or not. I'd also recommend inspecting the wire harness that is routed next to the trunk struts, as those tend to pinch and cause electrical issues. Good luck!

The tailgate switch is a simple button mounted on a flexible PCB strip. Usually it gets corroded or damaged, PCB layers are splitting. You might need to replace the open button. It might be a real pain on your lower back.

Sadly I'm not able to see the quality differences because of the quality that my internet allows me to watch at 🤣 720p60 is the max from time to time. Mainly I'm sitting at 480p.
