As someone who was a guide but got out of it, this is refreshing to hear. Having been in the industry and now on the outside looking in I've developed a unique perspective. Your open and objective approach, along with kindness and willingness to to share with other guides and anglers/clients alike is invaluable. Keep up the good work, your clients, guides and the river are lucky to have you.

Thank you very much. A rising tide lifts all ships. Happy you got something out of it as a former guide. Thanks again for the kind words.

Hey James, as one of your clients I must say that you practice what you preach. Mike and I had the time of our lives with you and the river. We caught fish, a lot of fish, but more importantly to Mike and I was what you were willing to share with us and what you taught us. We used that information to wade fish the next two days and we were more successful because of your willingness to share what you know about the river. So, thank you very much. Please stay safe out there and I'll look for ya on the water.

Also, you've totally been a mensch when our paths have crossed and you made a great day for my teen daughter when you guided us.

I agree some things are more important than trout fishing. Like striper fishing.

Good video James. That’s cool that you all share info. with each other. Win-win situation. I’ll look you up if I come that way. My dad fished the San Juan long ago, was good friends with Abe. They’ve both gone on to Higher waters. Best wishes to ya! 👍🎣👌

What kind of things do you put down in your fishing notes ?
@AboutTrout Жыл бұрын
That’s an excellent question. Month,day,ricer flow (cfs), section of river fished, weather, notable changes, and general notes about where I found fish flies used and how I was rigged.

I can’t speak for everyone but when it’s 15 degrees it’s nice to be able to tie knots and handle fish without removing the slime coat. Also keeps your hands from getting wet and cold when handling fly line. I used to be a hater now I’m a believer.
