Oh man! I remember those X men cards. In fact I still have some. Great art and all the cool info on the back made owning them a treat.

Hey JP, it’s funny I came across this video after I had this discussion with my wife. This video was very inspirational to me as I’ve always tried to emulate the style of the monsters and characters that I see in the 5e range of books. And it bums me that I can’t do. But your made me realize that my style is my style and I should be honored to have it. Thanks mate for this really appreciate it. 👍🏻

great video and nice concept :) you also reminded me or shall I say brought to my attention how inspiration and things we are fond of are taken for granted these days. I remember pouring over some album artwork for days and drawing inspiration from that for a while.

this is very insightful, finding your art style is a struggle.. you think you have found it then you find a new path that influences you. This is what makes art fantastic. loved the video!

So a few months ago i was struggling to figure out where i wanted to go with art but i knew i wanted to do art. I stumbled across this video after waching some of the Revive videos and I have to say this changed things for me. I started spending time aurounding my self with work that inspiers me like yours. I've started reading comics and even started my own! I know you probably won't see this but i just wanted to say thanks for this video and what you do! p.s. the new revive summer line is awsome! some of your best decks yet!

Hey JP! I'm tabling at SPX for the first time this year, I'm nervous as heck - any wise words for a new exhibitor? I appreciate all your videos - I think it's cool that how you speak of those influential for yourself is how I feel about your work and my style. Keep up the awesome work and I can't wait to get this year's Simple Routines!
@JPCoovert7 жыл бұрын
slimejello awesome! Congrats! Definitely mock up your table before you go. Figure out what space you have and how you are gonna display your books. Make/bring extra copies to trade or give away. Trading is less of a thing these days, but it's still a great way to meet people and get your comics in front of artists you dig. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Chances are you won't make your money back (printing, travel, and table fees.) Its more about getting yourself out there and connecting with readers and other artists.

This was so helpful JP... You are such an awesome dude, thanks for the inspiration and motivation!! Also, what kinds of markers/pens are you using when you sketch!?
@JPCoovert7 жыл бұрын
Mostly work in Photoshop with a Cintiq. For Simple Routines I use Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens, size F. Also like to mess around with brush pens, but that rarely shows up in finished work.

Hey man would you ever make a video on what you studied in school or collage to say how you got the job you have now?

Dave Tobey good idea! I'll definitely do something about art school at some point. I have lots of thoughts on it. Also planning a "draw my life" video as well.

Cole's the best! I tend to work under the assumption that no one really cares, but it's a fun thing to think about and make real. Maybe someone will find it interesting and helpful!

Hey! I'm wondering if it is possible to add closed captioning for us deaf/hard of hearing artists? There is auto-generated captioning but I am not sure how accurate it is. Thanks!
