Here is how I found my vintage 1978 Dodge RV. I definitely can say I put energy and effort into my search but I also got lucky because it turned out to be a great RV and had a great engine among other things. Most mechanics I've taken it to have said great things about this RV. I hope sharing my experience gives you good insight into my process and maybe you can take something valuable away from my experience.

Charlycheer...a word of caution/awareness. I had a customized Ford van that had those little side windows that pivots open to allow fresh air in on you when traveling on the road. They are your weakest point of entry. Someone accessed my van by breaking that vent window, reached in and unlocked the door....and just took some loose change in had in the ashtray. Just be aware of that accessible point. However; happy trails to you and I look forward to seeing more of you and your adventures.

Those little windows are called wing windows. Use to be standard equipment in all vehicles. They came in real handy when you had the window down. You could deflect the wind from blowing right in your face

Just grab a glue stick to fix wall paper. I love the original burnt orange cushions. Back in the 70's the décor colors were burnt orange, avocado green, and browns and don't forget the dark brown paneling! You have the perfect RV. I love it.

After seeing all the specs that you get with a Rv and the price of one compared to the price of a car...I'm like, "heck, I rather pay $20,000 to $100,00 for those instead." Thank goodness it broke down there because they tried to sell a lemon that wouldn't make lemonade. LOL. They could have sold it for $1,000 and told you it is a fixer-upper. You should always let it run for 20 minutes before buying, 30 minutes if you can, and have a mechanic to meet you there.

On your seat cushion put an zipper on the cushion so you can change the foam and or another on it. I hope you are saving up to have your transmission or engine to be rebuilt ?

Make sure You treat your tanks and get them clean before you use them. Make sure they don't leak and you have the proper hoses and fittings to fill and drain them.

You also need a surge protector before you plug your RV into electric power. Also, a new fire extinguisher, a smoke detector, and a CO2 detector. Safety first!

How about carefully cleaning and removing a large strip of the wall paper and then take it to a wallpaper place to have it duplicated? Or maybe you can buy blank wall paper with adhesive on it and make a copy of your print and reprint it? They also have vintage wall paper reproduction places that can either match or find something very similar to yours. Same with the lanolium

My vote is to keep the orange. My guess on purchase price is between 5 to 10 thousand -- leaning to the 5 side 'cause there was a list of things that needed fixing and a leak in the skylight. I agree with you that there will be a number of them on the market post-pandemic. I want a vintage trailer and have decided to look patiently for it 💕🌱
