I think there is consequences for our actions what ever our struggle is. I think you are super brave and I think its awesome you didnt start infecting others. So let's make it known that my parents did talk about sex, drugs, and rock&roll. For me I feel as if it could have been more detailed (i.e. talk about HIV testing, resources, having specific conversations with our doctors, how to ask sexual partners about they sexual health and STD statuses, etc). My family is completely open about so many things. I stated a fact that parents should have more conversations about STDs (including HIV). Also, if schools are going to be offering sexual education in school they should use the model of comprehensive sexual education. Abstinence based education does not help a person if they choose to engage in sex. I really do hope that clarified things.

Daniel Horlock What's your point Daniel? Just because you laugh at him for having HIV does not mean he will stop being gay. At the end of the day, your comment has the effect of a mosquito. It is irritating but everyone gets over it after they shower and go to bed. Nice try. And, by the way if Jesus is really real how cum he can't cure HIV? How cum he can't cure cancer? Sounds like Jesus is pretty much fake and therefore irrelvant.

I feel like people need to be more aware of HIV. OK, so, I've known that my friend is HIV+ for years. She always told me she thought she got it from being raped, but today I find out it was just from some random guy. She doesn't even know his name. I don't think she's a slut or anything, and I don't think she's entirely to blame because of course the guy should have been a bit smarter. But at the same time, I just don't understand why she doesn't even know his name. That just doesn't make sense to me. People need to be more aware of the prevalence of HIV and maybe she would have waited a bit longer.

I have to agree with you to an extent PozLifeOfPatrick but people parents can't hold there hands in everything they do in life and people have to take responsibility for there actions as well, not you but I mean everyone in general. Stay up man & I wish you all the love, support, happiness and great health in spite of the situation that life may bring you.

Every time I watch other people's stories it makes me afraid, slightly uncomfortable and I feel sorry for that person. Subconsciously as much as I try not to, I dehumanize people in a way. I sort of treat it like a taboo but for some reason as soon as I clicked on this video, I felt nothing but I don't know...excitement. I really love your personality and how you spoke about yourself, I feel like you are erasing the all the bad thoughts deep in my brain that I try to ignore. You are so amazing.

You are ABSOLUTELY adorable and INSPIRATIONAL Patrick I truly commend you for your bravery and positive outlook! I really admire you, it takes such a big person to turn a negative situation into a positive one, I KNOW for a fact that you are helping sooo many people around the world cope with their situation just with you sharing your story and your thoughts. Thank you for being such a bright light, you seem like such an amazing person, may you continue to be blessed!

Thanks for sharing the story. It is sad that many people still have prejudices about Hiv positive people😢. I would not judge if someone I know came out as Hiv positive. I work at a laboratory and it is a part of my job to be informed about HIV, other viruses and diseases and the way of transmission. Luckily, the science has advanced and you will be able to live your full life length.

I watched this video after watching the movie "The Normal Heart" on HBO, it was a great movie. The only thing I knew about HIV is the 50 minute class I had in highschool about the topic. Therefore, I decided to educate myself on this topic today. I am glad I had the opportunity to listen to your story. I hope nothing but the best for you and I pray that God gives you a prosperous life....Now I must return back to study for finals :(

If more people that have it find out they do and can afford to take the meds to keep their count down, that would go far to eradicate it. That is the sad part. A lot of people can't afford it. Just what I've read out of curiosity. This should be a priority in health care. They need more funding for this.

God Bless you for telling your story, I have lost many many of my friends to HIV and I consider my self very lucky for I was very lose in my early life we have a tree here in the village that we tie white ribbons for all those have died of HIV there is no space left to tie, we lost so many young people its such a shame. I could say a lot more but will leave it here.

So inspiring, Patrick. I could identify with so much of what you said (my parents were military / religious, too. I really related to how you were raised, feeling invincible at 16, etc.). Your sense of humor and your positive outlook on life, in spite of everything that has happened, is what drew me in to this story. You are making a difference and affecting our society for the better with your videos. So thank you. Keep shining. Thank you for sharing your experience w/all of us. P.s. - LOL at the part where you spoke about the nurse who pretty much tried to get you to leave if you weren't having suicidal thoughts after she told you you were HIV positive. Forgive me, because that's not a funny situation at all. But the way you told that story and recounted how you felt - that was everything. You are funny.

Listening to this young man I applaud you, not many people will do what you are doing. God is a forgiving God and you can make things even better with your life today by accepting Jesus Christ in your life by believing Jesus died on the cross of calvary for your sins He rose on the third day and is coming again to rapture his people those who believe in Him and living a life pleasing to Him. If you want to just say a simple prayer and He will save you. Lord Jesus I am a sinner and admit that I have sinned against you, and I ask you to forgive me of my sins. I have been living without you and heading towards a horrible eternity, but I want to have eternal life in heaven, and ask you to forgive me of all my sins, Jesus I receive you as my Lord and Saviour today, and I give my life to you. Help me to for you from today. Amen. If you really believe and prayer honestly Jesus will definitely forgive you of all your sins and save you. Jesus don't see you as you are today but He sees you as the finish work on the cross. And go to a Bible believing Church that preaches about Jesus Christ. God loves you and welcomes you just as you are.

You said it.. the guy basically told u so I give the dude credit for that because that was your chance to either ask more questions or just run away. A lot of people don’t even get that much of information. So what happen afterwards u can’t blame no one but yourself. It takes a strong and brave individual to come on KZbin and share his story with the world. You are grateful to have loving, caring, and supportive parents in your corner. Although this is an old post.. I wanna say continue to stay strong and empower others who have the virus to be strong😊😊
