team spot-conceal-no-foundation!!! i spent years watching youtube and shopping to find a "holy grail" foundation before realizing i just don't like a full face of foundation and that's ok!

I really appreciate this “take” on makeup. Can you address in a video how you “get over” wearing your good things? I find myself “saving them for the proper time” or fearing ruing them, especially with clothes.

Same! I feel like I have this problem at the beginning of owning it! But if this helps for things I love that are expensive I try to remember the more I use it the more value I’ll get out of it. Take a $50 palette if you wear it twice each use cost you $25 dollars but wearing and enjoying it more often is the most cost effective thing to do! That’s my advice but do what works for you!

If you don’t use them then you won’t be treating them right! What’s the point of owning then ;) part of everyday joy is seeing every day as worthy of special occasion. I also find luxury bloggers helpful in that regard because treats are so normalized. If you can proceed w caution that can be helpful!!

I am the same. That video would be awesome to see. Also, I would recommend you Naja Sierra's videos for example the one about the cost per wear. Other tips from a person who struggles with this issue: 1. fancy Friday :) 2. Do a wear rotation (wear every item you have). This one is great because after one wear you will not damage your clothing piece (that's my biggest fear), you will give them a test ride and see what are the good and bad characteristics of this piece, you will take away the newness (for me newness is the big reason to not wear a clothing piece) and the bonus out of this point is after a wear rotation you will get rid of the pieces that are not right for you. 3. Do an inventory. I love this one. It will help you see what you have. Maybe you will realize that some of your favorite pieces were not used for an obscene amount of time. Maybe you will want to get rid of pieces that are not the best for you and that will make you wear your favorites. An inventory also is a great tool to make better purchases or motivation for a low/no buy. And most of all it will make you appreciate what you have. 4. The hardest one: change your mindset. Try wearing your clothes for you and not for the others.

I have been trying do this exact thing lately, its helpful to get some more tips n tricks. Interestingly though, I struggle with what looks good in person vs. on camera. School and work are done through zoom and my typical natural less is more makeup doesn't show up as much of anything on camera- I would love a video for tips around on camera makeup💜

When I’m covering a blemish I avoid cream products all together because I can’t get them to stay on the texture. Instead I do my normal routine and then use a powder foundation on a tiny brush to conceal the spot, and lightly feather out to blend into the rest of my face. This is the only way I’ve managed to keep coverage on the blemish and not accentuate the dry patches on the edges so everything seems seamless. Which is weird because the powder it dry. I don’t claim to understand it, it’s just what works for me

During my total minimum years in Indonesia..a concealer..was the only complexion product I used..also the only product that wouldn't slide right off..especially during the day..usually around eyes to balance colour...at night usually around the eyes for brightness and through the centre..I love a good multifunctional concealer ..full makeup and 90% humidity..just doesn't work...especially during the day..thank you for sharing some of your little secrets...I was think just the other day..your skin looked like porcelain ...Hannah ...I is amazing the different makeup and skin care needs we have depending on our life circumstances ..from absolute bare minimum and sweat...to full face with all the steps ..it's all a majickal journey ...Love and light Shenn 💐💐💐

I love this technique & look! I know you’ve been holding off on replacing your green color corrector. Are you rethinking whether you actually need it, since you can get this beautiful look without it? I have rosacea and find it very difficult to get green and red to cancel each other out, so even with careful/light application there can be a tinge of green that looks unnatural and I stopped using green color correctors. I’m curious about your thoughts on this.

Ahhh I adore you for this video. A small part of me already knew that this approach would be a better fit for my makeup routine, but I’ve always felt the compulsive need to put a full face of base product on. I tried the spot-conceal no foundation routine today for work and I’m absolutely in love with the results! also enjoyed the added bonus of not having to worry about my cream blush breaking up any skin tint underneath

Do you ever just get mad or frustrated at your acne? With the time and money spent on such a thorough skin regimen, I would feel like I deserved to have skin I didn’t have to fiddle with. Do you ever get frustrated and wonder if the skin lotions and portions are worth it? It seems that having acne prone skin is a battle Do you feel like your acne would be worse if you didn’t have the regimen you do? Please do not interpret this as any dig on your skincare routine, etc. I support you wholeheartedly. Just wondering how you emotionally react to your breakouts... or if you do at all for that matter.

This was fun to watch! You've got it down and are really good at explaining the hows and whys -- so much so I'm *almost* ready to try it myself. The "glowing" ("glowy" gives me grammar/usage twitches) skin trend has taken a lot of getting used to, for me, as a person who learned makeup in the mid-'80s to early '90s. Back then, this trend would have been declared "greasy" and promptly powdered back into submission. I'm used to putting shiny things on top of matte things, not the other way around!

2021 has really brought some unexpected surprises because I've been breaking out more than I have been in years!! So this is really timely. I've also been enjoying spot-concealing, but when I have less time, I like using a medium-coverage BB cream all over. It still allows for different tones of the skin to peek through (including acne) while softening the overall effect.

I've found that a really serumy blush like the one from em cosmetics really amps up this technique. At first I wasn't convinced that they were anything special, but every time I wear one and take a picture, they have a unique look I don't get from my other blushes. A very glass skin kind of appearance. I'm going to have to compare and see if my flower beauty blush bombs have the same effect, because they have the most similar product consistency.

I don't like foundation either. Most of the time I spot conceal. I have the fenty foundation. When I do use it I always thin it out with future dew, a liquid highlight, and a dop of oil. Ends up being more like a tinted moisturizer.

This is very different from how you used to your makeup. I like that you push yourself to learn new techniques, etc. I'm going to try using a glow cream as a primer. Amen to "powder is powder" I've had the same bottle of RCMA no color powder for 5 years. You don't need to have so many powders and many of them are so overpriced.

For the last year I've been using nars soft matte to spot conceal with a tiny brush, use another tiny brush to blend out over my individual scars on my chin and mouth area and then sweeping the area with a light layer of bareminerals original foundation to set the concealer. The rest of my face I dont conceal anything and use bronzer, blush and highlighter as normal. So we sort of do it similarly but I use less concealer than you as I hate how oily I get with that! Thanks for the interesting video 😊

I know that you always say that you don’t like to use foundation because you don’t like to look “makeup-y.” But to me it looks like you kind of use concealer as foundation. Maybe I’m just makeup naive. Can please you clarify why putting concealer all over your face gives you a different (preferred) effect than putting foundation all over your face?
@danithilette
@danithilette 3 жыл бұрын
Because she's literally not putting it all over her face she's placing it specifically on the areas where she needs coverage. I do the same thing. I hate foundation all over the face. Concealing the exact area that I want is more flattering. The amount of area you need to conceal changes with whatever breakouts you're having. For instance right now I don't have any breakouts. I have one spot on my face that I put concealer on.
@kylieok7009
@kylieok7009 3 жыл бұрын
because when you use concealer over just a few spots you are using way less product than when you wear a full face of foundation. concealers are more pigmented generally so the actual amount of product is significantly less. I find it just looks way more natural when you spot conceal than putting foundation in a layer all over your skin. Professional make-up artists use this technique all the time as well. she pretty clearly doesn't put it all over her face
