I have to agree with the RS Guitarworks stuff, you can't go wrong and it's an inexpensive upgrade. I also upgraded my Les Paul with a Callaham ABR-1 bridge, it was a little pricey, but the sound is incredible it adds more sustain, ringing, and clairity, which made the price well worth it. It is also a little brighter sounding.

We share the same idea's tone wise. I play 1997 Gibson Les Paul Standard. Like you i also am using thicker strings except I go 12-52's and use a 1.5ml Plectrum simply because im a harder player it gives me way more bite on the string and I play in E-Flat and I use Amplitube 4 on the Slash Marshall With some Delay, Tube screamer, Reverb through the Slash Cabinet. The amp models are really good for Amplitube much better than Guitar Rig 5 in my opinion. My favourite by far theough is Scuffham X-Gear best amp sim out there.

I was hugely impressed that on the slash's presets you used soldano instead of Marshalls :o
@mashandflutter10 жыл бұрын
Indeed Diego. When I really thought about it, a Soldano is essentially a hot rodded Marshall, which is pretty much what Slash plays on, so using the Soldano preset makes sense on some level.

It works on Guitar Rig but Slash said once in interview that for Sweet Child o Mine hes using full neck pickup
@georgetempest24699 жыл бұрын
Very true - this goes pretty much for ALL instruments. Practise practise practise. Signature gear and presets don't make you sound like Slash or Satriani. The only thing that ever did that for me was the good old Tom Scholz Rockman. I had one in the early 80's and when I plugged it in, I thought wow, I sound exactly like Boston :o) That's analog gear for you! I find it best to tweak around with my VST's until I get a close enough sound. It took me ages to get the perfect Jon Lord sound, a growling Hammond B3. My motto is - presets are for loosers ;o)

Man, great vids. I'm a huge G n' R fan. Thankfully I was at the right place and right time and got to watch them become the monsters that they did. Saw them twice in concert. Once with Aerosmith for AFD Tour and once with Skid Row for Use Your Illusion. Good times...indeed. Well, at any rate, I subbed for your law channel. Happy to help ya out. It's the least I can do for all these vids. I didn't have any luck getting to your presets though. I have some questions about that. Do you use GR5 in a live setting? I have GR4 and Rig Kontrol. I'd like to use it live but just feel kind of unsure about it. What are your thoughts? And if ya could, set me up with those presets. They sound awesome. I sent ya an email at the above address.

Sorry Damian, but wondered if I could ask you some advice on Guitar Rig 5? I've literally just bought some Eris E5 monitors and a Focusrite 2i4 audio interface and trialling a demo for Guitar Rig 5, trouble is the noise/interference is terrible! I can use the noise gate to reduce it when not playing a note but as soon as I start playing the noise is shocking. Have you ever experienced this and do you have any ideas what might help? Appreciate it, Simon.
@mashandflutter11 жыл бұрын
First I would try troubleshooting the software and your configuration. Maybe try posting over in the NI forums. On the other hand, it might be your guitar. Sometimes in stock guitars the wiring, electronics, and pick-ups all suck. If you have some friends who own guitars, have them come over with theirs and try out your rig. Also, some of the presets on GR can be a little noisy, but not what you're describing. Hope that helps.
@simonrourke197811 жыл бұрын
Really appreciate your help Damian, I've actually managed to sort it! It was my printer, I unplugged it and the noise has gone completely, zero distortion on any preset and the sound is perfect!

please help me, I've been trying to achieve slash's tone. here's what I use: Gibson slash afd + marshall jcm 900 slx (5881 power tube) + marshall cab 1960 (celestion g12t75) - EQ settings currently are: presence 8, bass 7.5, middle 8, treble 6.5, volume 2, sensitivity 6, pre-amp 8.5. (I add a cable in the fx loop for 'boost' effect, all pedals are running front). Pedals : sc95 slash crybaby -> mxr smart gate -> tu3 tuner -> boss ge-7 -> mxr distortion+ -> boss dd7. Can anybody tell me are these settings good enough for slash's tone. If not, what's the best settings or should I add an od pedal in front of the amp because I find that mxr distortion+ ruin the slash tone. For now it's best to leave the les paul through marshall recipe. thx for anyone who wants to reply and help me with this question :)

Too much treble and high end for my liking. Sounds a little harsh
@mashandflutter11 жыл бұрын
Yeah, some of these tones can be, but it's done intentionally. I take the position that the guitar is naturally a treble/midrange instrument, and I like to keep it there. Since I write my own music I always have to keep in mind how everything else will fit with the guitar (Bass, drums, synths, etc.) There's only so much sonic landscape (bass mid treb) and the guitar can't hog all of that, so I keep it in its natural sonic place.

you and me and any other musician can try to explain to people how he got his tone .. people are paranoid they will not believe you. you can give them and all your equipment to try and let them play the same lick as you. and again they will sound a bit different and you will be prompted again to answer why. The main thing is some idiot you can not convince that there is nothing without a sufficient exercises and the difference is the human factor.
