Dude this is freakin ace Slash is a huge influence to me and you teach his style well. Perhaps a udemy slash course would be cool
@timkryworuka82694 жыл бұрын
Slash is the coolest mother F’er to ever walk the planet he’s phrasing ,amount of feel and emotion in his playing is just the paramount , the only problem I have is when I hear him him play ,I don’t if I should pick my guitar up or just put it down , kudos on a great video about a right handed genius

Just when I thought your channel couldn’t get any better, a slash lesson!! Loved hearing that you’re a huge GnR fan - I am too (slash is why I’ve been playing guitar for ~7 years). Thanks for the great lesson man. Also that’s an awesome guitar!

Not the first time I watched thus video. I am, just like you a all time gnr fanboy. Slash is the reason I picked up the guitar 22years ago. As a big fan I can say you really did a amazing job! Thanks ross! I will buy your course in the near future! Your teaching is amazing! I hope to understand more about theory and explore new fretboard knowledge.

Great video! Would you consider doing a video on how to get certain sounds/voices from the guitar? I'm not talking about specific gear recommendations, but more just what sort of approximate settings we need to use to get our guitar to sound like (for example) Slash, or whoever... At the moment, I pretty much just cycle through Garageband looking for cool voices, but if you could explain the various settings (Gain, Treble, Bass, etc) and how they work so we could kind of figure it out for ourselves?
@RossCampbellGuitarist7 жыл бұрын
Great suggestion John! For Slash's sound I'd recommend lots of Mid and Treble, and cutting a considerable amount of bass like so: Gain, Treble & Mid - 7.5 Bass - 3 I'll be sure to do an in depth video on this in the future :)

Im a Slash fan as well and Ive went through videos of his playing but ONLY YOU have totally nailed the style of the Man with the Top Hat. You showed a variation of the minor pentatonic scale which helped me tons in my improvisation for guitar lines. SUBSCRIBED!

I was a junior in HS when Appetite For Destruction came out and needless to say I was a HUGE fan. I literally had a shrine for Guns N’ Roses in my room and have Slash’s skull from the cover tattooed on my arm. I saw them open for Aerosmith (yes they were the opening band) and they were AMAZING! They started their set with the slow version of -You’re Crazy- and I was mesmerized. This was pre-Lies so no one had heard it done this way yet and it’s all I talked about for MONTHS was the slow-version-of-You’re-Crazy-this and The slow-version-of-You’re-Crazy-that. Then when I heard that’s originally how they wanted to record it it made perfect sense. The song was just made to be played that way and it showed. This was also before all of the meltdowns, fisticuffs, too drunk to play moments, and riots that defined their later gigs. This was definitely them in their prime and I feel fortunate to have been able to see them like that. It’s a show I will never forget OBVIOUSLY as I could talk about it all day STILL! Needless to say Aerosmith also played a great show and pulled out a lot of their more obscure songs. This was the third time I had seen Aerosmith and it was also the best I had heard them. They opened their set with -Rats In The Cellar- and it’s only got better from there. Over all One of the best live shows I’ve ever seen and will ever see. I would say it’s the best show I’ve ever seen next to Pearl Jam, Nirvana, RHCP. That’s one show and that’s the order that they played. So, yes! I saw a show where Peal Jam was the opening act. I was really there to see Nirvana and well... we all know how that goes. Anyway, thank you for letting me indulge.

For the pattern at 2:20, we'll take A minor scale for simplicity. We basically have the following scales: A minor natural: A B C D E F G A A minor pentatonic: A C D E G A A minor blues scale: A C D Eb E G A So, for the Slash's scale, we play the following notes: A B C D Eb E F# G A. Hope you can clarify it for me. Thank you.
@monsieurmitosis4 жыл бұрын
The notes you listed are correct if you transposed the scale from F# to A minor. But it’s not so much a variation on the natural minor scale, as it is the Dorian mode, since it would include an F# instead of F. So it’s really just the Dorian scale with a b5 added in. (There may be a name for that scale, but if so, I’m not aware of it.)
