Personally in these covid times, i ask if they are down for a video chat a few days before we meet in real life. You learn alot about them even in just video chat. And no one likes getting allll dressed up, paying for an uber etc , to get stuck on a date with a guy whose dating pictures are 10 YEARS OLD (meaning he looks way older now than he did in his young spritely pics). Ugh.
