I remember being natural up until the age of 12; all my mother used was shampoo and hair grease! Lol!! Got it washed weekly and wrapped my hair up at night. My hair was healthy and thick. Our hair is just the most beautiful of all hair! It is so versatile and can do EVERYTHING from kinky curly braids twists straight LOCS etc., it thrives when we don' t over style. All we need do is to keep it clean moist and stop abusing it. It is essential that we accept it's natural texture after all it is our heritage our personal lineage. All of our ancestors are reflected in it those known and unknown. Some things can not and should never be changed. Once we honour our own then it will grow and grow unless we're not healthy taking pharmaceutical meds or using too many commercial products. I make my own. It is just glorious our crown no matter the length. Your hair is BEAUTIFUL Sis! Ty for such a well filmed simple video edited to perfection! I have been around from the start of your channel and may I say I like your style the way you do things period. You reflect individuality! The essence of Pure STYLE! 🍃🌼✨

I really love that you don’t use a heat protectant. I’ve stopped using them whenever using heat and my hair thrives so well. I do my own trims, and care for my hair. The comments I went to professionals, they used too much heat and I had to start all over. Ask this to say, heat protectants are gimmicks for sure. I heard a natural stylist years ago say your heat protectant is you treating your hair while washing and conditioning your hair. That’s all the heat protectant we need! I’ve gone by that motto for years. 😌😌

I’ve been going for about a year and can’t wait to see when I straighten on my birthday in June. I’ve been wearing protective styles. Thanks for helping us along the journey.

Your daughter? You do not look old enough to have a daughter grown enough to cut your ends! Love it! Black girl magic. Thanks for the vid.

Oooh - IDK if I'd recommend oil like that before straightening for most people but it obviously worked great for you. What I do love about this vid is the minimalism. "Products" are what I hate most about the natural hair community. Most of them don't even do what they claim to, but what's craziest is that they didn't even exist 20 years ago and naturals were doing just fine without them.

Looks good. Healthy hair is best. I don't know why some people focus on length because you can't obtain length if it's not healthy. I just cut mine and starting over for healthier hair. Looking forward to basic healthy hair journey with less products as Kim explained. Less is more! 🙂

My great aunt use to do hair in her kitchen, where I would sit and watch. She used the marcels and blue magic, those lady’s hair always looked so healthy. The way your hair looks reminds me of that time.

It’s so pretty. You have some resilient hair. Every time I use a smidge of heat I get heat damage.

Congratulations on completing the No Heat Journey! 🥳 I'm leery on the two passes of that high of heat for potential heat damage. 😩 But your hair looks awesome!

THANKS for the "OLIVE OIL" trick. Using olive before straightening makes PERFECT SINCE to me (since olive oil can withstand high heat)...love this channel, you NEVER CEASE to supply GREAT INFO!!!!!!!! P.S. can't BELIEVE you have a "CHILD" old enough to help you trim your hair

please be careful, using olive oil or just oils in general can actually fry your hair and do more damage than straightening with no product at all

Doesn't oiling your hair before straightening it fry it?

No it wouldn't as most heat protectors are made from oil. It acts as a barrier.
