Congratulations on your ATAR Nick fantastic effort! Remember your ATAR tells us a student's position relative to all the students in their age group (ie all 16 to 20 year olds in NSW). So, for example an ATAR of 80.00 means that you are 20 per cent from the top of your age group (not your Year 12 group). The average ATAR is usually around 70.00. Watch our videos for ATAR and NSW/ACT university entry related content :D

Great vid, I am on the last leg of the 2016 school year. Just got exams to go ! They are worth 30% which means that they will make or break your year. I have been really slow with revison and I have my Physics exam on Tuesday (2 days away) and my Maths exam on Thursday (4 days away), this video for whatever reason has got me going and got the fire buring again I don't know why I was about to waste the year I had set up. Thankfully I know the coarse well and just need to refresh the brain. Gonna grind some past exams, possibly the best form of revision out there. @ThatStudentLifeAustralia6 жыл бұрын
NKL Lol I believe you but make sure you tone it down a little with the “easily” hahaha, anybody from about 98.5 and up is a hyper-intelligent human but the 99.95 kids are in another league...everything comes into play at that level...IQ, work ethic, common luck, school, the weather on the day of your exam...everything hahaha. Find the reasons why you want to do well and remind yourself of them every morning and every night! That helps a lot

In terms of scaling, how exactly is an atar calculated? If my overall ranks within my cohort for each subject ranged from 2nd to 15th place, does this play a significant role in determining my atar? This is probably a stupid question, as I assume my school rankings would make a big difference to my overall atar, but I'm just scared scaling is going to scale me down. Any thoughts? Btw love your work, your motivational words got me through the hsc and I looked up to you and tried implementing the tips you suggested where possible!

I’m in year 10, but what subjects should I pick next year?
@ThatStudentLifeAustralia4 жыл бұрын
I would say that you should choose your subjects based on what you have enjoyed so far in school + if you have a certain career path in mind maybe that should influence it also (e.g. if you know you want to work in a science/engineering type field you would benefit greatly from having studied science/maths in year 11 and 12). Hope that helps!

Good vid But.. Go to bed at 11 clock at night and wake up 3 AM in the morning? That's 4 hours of sleep. Did you do that all year?
@TheHorseman38 жыл бұрын
Anyone trying to do good in the HSC should be getting a lot more sleep than 4 hours. Brain development and memory requires sufficient amounts of sleep. So I really doubt that he was doing that all year and if so then thats impressive.
@ThatStudentLifeAustralia8 жыл бұрын
No not all year. That was kinda meant to be two statements. As in stay up late OR get up early. Everyone works off different amounts of sleep, I fortunately don't need a whole heap of it

people need to realise that people like these are just naturally smart or either they work hard until they get good grades, people everyone is different when it comes to studying so his tips might work on some people, not all people. I realised this with myself and many other students even when I try my hardest I still either fail or just pass and not get good grades and I been doing this for a year and I have seen no improvements, even if you do it the right things you still don't get the results you desire. To keep it real people like these are just smart at schoolwork and understand how teachers grade student work and Atar is a tough system which is there is eliminate and restrict the number of people that can do certain Uni Subjects. Not everyone can get an Atar of 97.55 if they did then the education system testing has to be raised higher. I realised that a lot of people say you can balance school with life which can be 50/50 right. Yes, you can balance but the problem is to have the right balance like going out to parties, work, hanging out with friends requires you to be naturally smart otherwise you'll need to spend 5-8 or even more hours a day studying. From a moral point of view, I see spending more than 5 hours of study as wrong and blocking the most important lesson of all time life.
