How I got British Citizenship and a British Passport 2022 | NATURALISATION APPLICATION AFTER BREXIT
Whilst I did not need this citizenship to carry on living in the UK as the new settlement scheme took care of my rights. I knew from the beginning of my journey here in the UK that I WANTED to get the citizenship. I felt that I identified myself as mostly British and I had no plans to return to Hungary. My whole life is here so it's only made sense to make my oath to the Queen!

I can understand your journey, I was born in Kenya and changed nationalities to Swiss.But my journey was much easier or to be precise, it was offered out of the blue, one of the best things in my life really. I have also visited Hungary in the past, I was in Gyor for a few days and then to Budapest for a few days, a lovely experience. I`m really happy for you, many people would love to change citizenship and they are unable.So we should feel lucky.

You need to have lived in the uk for 5years to get your ILR, then if you are married to a British Citizen you can apply the next day after you received your ILR, if not you have to wait for 12months after ILR to apply for Naturalisation!

Can I ask how long it took time for you to get your naturalisation ceremony invitation letter after you had applied for UK citizneship? I applied in Oct 2021 and then received a letter in March 2022 saying my application won't be processed within 6 months due to the considerable number of documents that have passed their target date ! Now it is July 2022 and still no news about my application results! That's while some other people I know had applied around the same time as me and they have done their ceremony by now ! It is very frustrating.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear that, as I explained in the video I was one of the lucky ones as my entire process was about a month. I applied just a few days after Christmas or before can't remember now and 2 weeks later I got my invite.

But I mean, you said that you don’t identify with the Hungarian mindset which I understand. Don’t get me wrong I respect your opinion, but I am genuinely curious. The dual EU-UK citizenship it’s a very useful combo. I always use my EU passport to get to the schengen area without any worries whatsoever, whereas I see the Brits queuing up in those non-eu/eea/swiss citizens queue and getting these 90days stamp limits… and by next year, an ETA system will be in place for those non eu-citizens willing to visit the Schengen area, adding extra costs and paperwork to the journeys. What was the reason you wanted to get rid of the EU passport? Was it difficult? Did you ask for it in the Hungarian consulate? Did they give you looks?
