Welcome back to my channel, this week I uploaded a requested video that has been mentioned from the moment I got into dental hygiene school! New sub! Quick question…did you find it expensive and how did you afford the program? I’m concerned about student debt. Would you suggest working during the program? Also, what is the average age of your class? 🌸

Omg we literally have the SAME background. I graduated with a bachelors in biology and wanted to apply to dental school. I unfortunately had a change of heart so now I’m looking into hygiene. I’ve worked as an assistant to a dentist and hygienist and i think hygiene might be for me. I just emailed the local dental hygiene program advisor for guidance. Im hoping i have all the pre reqs done and i can apply this year.

No shade at all but an associates degree in hygiene is not less grueling. For many associate degree programs you have to complete two years of pre requisite classes before even considered for dental hygiene school. Once accepted you complete another two years. Because it is a community college you only receive an “associates” but it is very rigorous. Classes like local anesthetic, dental materials, dental emergencies only count as one credit due to if each class were 3 credits it would exceed an associates degree. At the end of the day we’re all RDH by the ADA and that’s not defined by your degree. I have to heavily disagree with your discrediting assumption.

thank you for sharing 🤍 was never my intention to discredit or upset anyone, what I was meaning to say was that there are classes we have that are extra that you wouldn’t take in an associates program in order to obtain that bachelors degree, but you’re right we are all RDH’s and that’s what matters at the end of the day!

When does the program let you know you are in? How months ahead of time? My state starts every Fall semester.

It really depends on the school and how badly they want you as a student. I interviewed and 20 minutes later was offered a spot in the class, so it really depends where you stand in comparison to your peers

You’re personality is so cute and fun! Can I ask ball-park what do you make in TX as a DH? Considering the profession but need to know if it’s worth the time investment. I keep hearing mixed reviews. Thanks!

thank you that’s so kind!!! Personally, I don’t like to discuss money and salary because it changes so often and it’s so different depending on the office you work for! If you look it up online there are usually up to date stats !

hey! I don’t really like to talk about specs on here because every application is so different and there are things that might stand out in my application that didn’t stand out in others and vice versa, just do your best & you are gonna be golden!!
