Thanks for watching! Are you able to get NBC and Cozi on a Shaw e60?
@NorthcoasterHobby3 жыл бұрын
@@RobbieStrike With the 60e I can easily pull in the Srv 1, Srv 2, etc. Channels like NHK, news max etc., but not NBC/Cozi. I can get those as well as everything else on 103 west with the bigger 75e dish.
@NorthcoasterHobby3 жыл бұрын
@@RobbieStrike Also, the NBC channels have a higher forward error correction (5/6). Usually those need a larger dish, whereas the Srv Mux has an FEC of 3/4, I can’t seem to miss those channels with the small Shaw dish!

Great channel! Just recently figured out your a local enthusiast! I’ve lived in Kingston all my life and am currently next door in Amherstview, Ontario! Been in and out of the FTA scene for 20 years or so. After seeing yours and Northcoaster’s videos I decided to get back into it with a few Shaw dishes from Kijiji and a Koqit receiver. I solely use OTA at the trailer only because the majority of the south west behind my trailer is blocked by trees that I can’t “prune” lol. But at home I’m running 97W and 125W (for the PBS feeds). Thanks for the great videos and keep them coming bud!

FTA Satellite is probably my cheapest hobby. All but one of my dishes were free, I've only bought LNBFs, a receiver, a vbox, disecq switch and lots of rg-6. I'm now playing with a sidecar ku lnbf on my 8.5 footer because shipping for 1.2m ku dishes is astronomical. I'm also a ham and SWL'er

If your careful it can be that way. I don't have cable and the money I saved $1200 a year paid for everything I have got!

I got into free to air satellite back in 01. Had someone that a a c-band satellite system. I remember watching the 911 wildfeeds

This hobby is a bit of an offshoot of a shortwave listener or ham operator. The fun is setting up, maintaining the system, and finding the obscure channels that are being beamed down to earth, and then wondering what demographic or businesses actually watch them. The thing to keep in mind is that a majority of these channels aren't on any cable systems because they are fringe in quality and content, or the demographic is a very limited fringe audience. I am actually surprised that operators can even afford the cost of uplinking their signal to satellites. The hobby was really cool in the days before the internet because a lot of content that was once on satellite has moved the internet, especially now with very high-speed internet connections. Networks now can use the internet to rather uplinking\downlinking their signal.

Just got into the hobby from watching your videos, tried to repurpose an old DTV 36 inch dish and mounted an LNB to it but I can’t get any channels. I think my LNB might be bad. Hope I’m not doing anything wrong! But I’m excited to get it working hopefully. Even got a V8 SatFinder meter to try to lock this thing up. Not sure if it’s LNB length from center of dish. I’m so determined.

WHY?
@Gintokikreuz1 Жыл бұрын
@@RobbieStrike Well I can see how it's not as confusing to you. In the sense it better explain what it is by it's name, unlike fta. But the way I stumbled into FTA aka Free Satellite TV is by looking for pirated direct TV and dish by searching Free Satellite TV. Fortunately I'm glad I did stumbled into cuz it's very interesting.
