I’ve noticed that the jobs boards barely show any jobs for the steward department. Mostly, it’s been like 8 or 9 pages for the deck department and 1 or 2 pages for the engine department.

I noticed that also while I’m here at the program for phase 1 they seem to get deck out way faster then they would engine and steward but with stewards department you have to take government vessels also there on union scale so it might be a little harder to find jobs for them

It takes about 4-5 weeks, as long as you sent them to the correct place, you should be getting emails to update you on the status

Yes their is a difference if your in galley you get paid as an actual member of siu. in deck and engine when you first sail out you get paid as a ua my check was 553 without ot with ot it was like 1500 in the engine department

Siu really a good place to get your career started fr it’s a good environment they take care of everything fr they walk you through everything when you get to the program but with the pay thing siu the highest paying company outside of the 4 months you spend here when you here they pay you 40 dollars every 2 weeks

It’s nothing much you go in and take your drug test after that they give you a brief physical like they make sure you can see they also make sure you can hear by giving you some headphones and asking if you hear the beep some doctors may do blood work
