Fellow Gator here, I agree with all of what you said. A big tip for future applicants I’d give would be to please think hard about what you’ll write in your essay. It’s extremely important that you don’t write about anything cliche or something they see all the time. Write about something that’s really important to you and make sure you get a lot of people to review it and give you critiques.

@@AviatorZoroark Will my 3.9 unweighted GPA and 4.2 weighted GPA (I hope) by the beginning of senior year pretty much hurt my chances, even if I'm 99.9% sure that I'm in top 5% of my class? My high school doesn't offer any honors classes or AP classes (I'm currently taking one AP class through Florida Virtual School which I'm the only student in the entire school taking an AP class). I wish I could take more AP classes this year, but unfortunately can't since taking more than 2 FLVS classes would cost me my scholarship (my other FLVS class is Spanish 2). I wish I could've dual-enrolled earlier, but unfortunately couldn't due to my circumstances (I desperately hope that I will dual-enroll this summer to bring up my weighted GPA dramatically to even get into the 50% middle range of admitted applicants). Would an extremely high SAT score compensate for my weighted GPA? Sorry for asking too much since I'm already so anxious to the point that I'm even sleep-deprived currently thinking about my chances.
@AviatorZoroark5 жыл бұрын
@@user-yr3uj6go8i They should take into account your school and what they offer, and I'm sure seeing you went out of your way to take an AP course will look good on you. The reason they ask for class rank as far as I understand from counselors (I'm a junior as well) is that they want to see how you stack up with your situation. For example, i have a 5.0 weighted but I don't even think im in the top 5% because of grade inflation. If your 4.2 puts you at the top of your class, that puts you in good favor. In regards to test scores, UF does a holistic application process, so seeing high scores would probably make up for other aspects!
@user-yr3uj6go8i5 жыл бұрын
@@AviatorZoroark So, do you think I will be fine as long as I'm 99.9% confident that I'm in the top 5%, perhaps top 2% or even top 1% of my class (I would have to verify just to make sure) while doing my best to challenge myself with AP classes and dual-enrollment as much possible? Will UF compare my weighted GPA to other applicants' weighted GPA's or just compare my GPA to other students at my high school?
@Galbra1th5 жыл бұрын
As far as what you said earlier I would focus on getting leadership positions in your extracurriculars because everyone who is going to be applying will have been involved in one way or another. As far as your GPA and class rank go, I wouldn’t worry too much because you are doing the best you can for your situation. I ended up with a 5.0 gpa but was still #82 in my class, so they will really take into account your school and how your classmates rank. Keep it up with the AP online classes and just strengthen your extracurricular involvement and you should be good.

Honestly from my pov, try dual enrollment if you're in Florida and are planning to stay here. Back in my first high school( I did 9th and 10th grade), most of my friends that took APs did not pass their exams due to lack of preparation and practically wasted their time on those classes. In 11th grade (and now 12 grade too) I'm in sas which is AP classes in the afternoon and mdc classes in the morning, sas is located in mdc so it's really convenient not having to move around from one school to another. All of our credits are accepted my public florida school so we practically save 2 years. In my opinion (I'm not the best neither in math,social studies, and english) it's not that hard as some people make it seem like
