Couple things I forgot to mention in the vid: I am from NC so yes I was evaluated as in-state, and my class rank was ~110/640 (my HS was pretty competitive)

Do they recalculate your weight gpa?. I didn't take a AP class in my freshman year and they really messed my weighted gpa as a whole. So I am curious to see if they do it differently.

This is the must important info. As a parent, looking at our of state acceptance info. Think it’s a luck if draw even with higher SAT & GOA AND lots of XC , but we will see. Thanks for the video

I definitely would say so, 8 APs was more than average at my school and if you got As in all of them then you’re in good shape

The average act at UNC is 30, and it’s probably gonna increase with test optional. Do you have an SAT or any opportunity to retake the act? If not, then I’d personally say to not report it, but either way you go it shouldn’t have a big impact

Honestly...probably not. I'd say waitlist would have been much more likely and who knows from there. UNC is almost at an ivy level (or so I've heard) for out of state unfortunately

It’s not superrr hard but it’s definitely tougher than in state. I’ve heard some people say that getting into unc out of state is almost the same as getting into an ivy but I’m not sure how true that is

@@ShivNC Well I don’t want to be rude but it just seems crazy with the numbers that you stated (110/640 class rank, 10 b’s total throughout hs and whatnot) that you made it. Obviously you have no idea how exactly but yeah it’s just wild.

@@Luigi-xu5tw haha it’s a fair question, and as you saw one person recommended I get waitlisted so I barely got in. I think it came down to a few things though -not only academic rigor (took a bunch of APs in HS and took 2 fairly difficult classes at UNC before applying), but the fact that I *improved* throughout high school. Like most of the Bs I got sophomore year, but then I only got one B junior year with more difficult classes. -I thought my essays, particularly my personal statement, was solid and pretty unique -I was obviously in state so that makes it a little easier to get in. and unfortunately I think standards are a bit higher now overall than in 2019 -as much as I hate to say it, probably a bit of luck as well 🤷‍♂️
