They actually use a rubric to choose people that are accepted in the school. Like they give you points I guess based on what marks you hit. Or at least that's what I've heard from one of the administration videos. But your information was helpful. It would have been nice if you read your major essay or showed how your resume actually would look like.
@hermannklein-hessling76124 жыл бұрын
Could you do a video on the expanded resume, perhaps showing yours to see the format, detail etc. My existing resume is already two pages but I've seen some submit ones that 3-6 pages as it includes every activity in great detail, and every award etc. I feel if I do the same it might be forced.

@@marianaflores-cf2ki it's really not as hard as some people make it out to be, you can still be accepted if you dont meet the minimum requirements, you just are not guaranteed admission. It has a generally high acceptance rate at around 40%, just make sure you excel at something, whether that being sat score, GPA, or after school activities.
@totallynotme67204 жыл бұрын
@@linencastle n...no. It’s very hard to get in. Yes it does technically have a 40% acceptance rate but that’s due to the guaranteed acceptance for top 10% in Texas. However UT is notorious for accepting people but not allowing them for their major. If we take that into account I’d say it’s way lower than 40%. It’s likely closer to 20-10 range.

Great video!! My name is Andres, it's pleasure to meet you. I have a younger brother will be graduating from high school this spring semester. During my high school experiences, I did not take any APs nor honors due to my move because I had to switch schools from state to state for another year. I'm a military child, so I moved from state to state from age 5 through 21. I was born in the small town of New York, and I lived there for 5.5 years. I lived in 5 different states for 2-3 years, Virginia for 6-7 months, and Puerto Rico for a year. I grew up with my Spanish speaking family who are from Colombia and Puerto Rico. I grew up speaking English, and I'm still improving my Spanish to become a fluent speaker. I also had a 3.71/4.00 as my unweighted GPA, which I was a top 8% of my graduation class too because I graduated from high school in the state of Georgia, so it did ranks exact the same thing as Texas. My HS rank was a 28/335. Also, I attended high school back in Killeen for 9th grade. I lived in Killeen for 3 years. I visited there two times visiting my family in my mom and dad's side of the family. For right now, I'm living in Florida. This is my last military move. My ACT score was a 12, and I still made it to community college. I've been studying for 5 years. I will be graduating with my AA degree in general studies in next spring semester. I'm in my sophomore year at a community college, and I still have 6 or 7 more courses till I graduate from a community college. I can't wait to attend university for my junior and senior year. I will be in a BA program for radio TV and journalism because those are my dream career. Television is my dream career. My younger brother will be studying computer science at the same community college as me for his AS degree. I grew up with Individual Educational Plan (IEP) during my school years. I was diagnosed with autism at age 3. For right now, I'm 23 years old. For my TV career, I want to be actor, singer, broadcast, journalist, film, and author. For my back up plans, I will work at a clothing store, office store, TJ Maxx, and target. Congratulations on your academics, you did a great job with your video stats. You have very great content. Before I graduate from a community college, I will chat about my high school and community college on my video stats. In this summer, I will attend to TV school to learn about a job for music and film industry as my career. Also, great job on your academics for your APs and honors courses. It's pleasure to meet you. Good luck at University of Texas in Austin. God bless you and your family. 🙏🏻

@whatdidlinzsay30464 жыл бұрын
hey! band does look good on your resume, especially marching band...but so does any extracurricular. i think that the point of extracurriculars is to show that you are passionate and dedicated. it sounds like you were already considering quitting band and so i would advise that you quit now. yes i understand its a big decision but you never wanna force yourself to do something that u don't enjoy anymore. trust me its not worth it. it would be more beneficial for you to branch out and mb look into extracurriculars that have to do more with forensic science (not that u have to tho). your happiness and sanity is priority and so yeah don't keep on doing band if its just for your college app.

What’s considered “really really” low for an SAT score? I haven’t taken it yet but I’m hoping for at least a 1300
@whatdidlinzsay30464 жыл бұрын
sat score should barely matter cuz of covid but ut does have a pretty high standard. i searched up the average and it's 1355. i would say try to aim for 1400. it's very possible if u study really hard :)

whatdidlinzsay Thanks. But what if I have a really high GPA? I’m at around top 8% in my school, so do you think that it can compensate for a SAT around 1330?
@whatdidlinzsay30464 жыл бұрын
@@goatman1660 8% is pretty up there so GOOD JOB! but i wouldn't rely solely on it. i personally think u should aim above the average so a 1400 (above average) so that it doesn't possibly be the breaking point. but as i said before, i think sat matters the least. if your essays and extracurriculars r great, i think u should be fine. but ofc i don't have all the answers and i can't guarantee that it's ok :(

it's def possible but anything is honestly possible. that's prob not the answer u want but i can't tell u for sure. i would recommend taking the sat just cuz it's a standardized test but if u choose not to, that's your choice. assuming that that's your gpa, your gpa seems high and having lots of extracurriculars is helpful. i think u have a solid foundation, just focus on your essays now :) hope this helped!

ofc it’s harder if you’re not in the top six percent but it’s not impossible. even i wasn’t in that percentage. i know a few people that weren’t in ten percent and they got in so it really depends. i can’t gauge your acceptance rate. just because you haven’t been awarded anything doesn’t necessarily mean your chances are lower. yeah awards will help but it’s not too important. like i said in my video, just focus on your essays and how you can present yourself in your application in the most authentic way :) good luck

Hey, could you help me out? I live in Austin and currently go to Westwood high school. I'm a senior, and am enrolled in the IB diploma program. Do you think that if I apply, I have a good chance of getting in? I've just been worrying about my future and college so much, and would love to get reassurance from someone else ❤️

@whatdidlinzsay30464 жыл бұрын
hey! it depends on when you submit your application. so if you submit your application after first semester, then they'll consider your first semester grades for admission. ok but also remember that they'll ask for your transcript at the end of senior year so they'll eventually have all of your grades but it won't matter as much unless you fail a ton of classes and they revoke your admission (this is from what i heard). hope that helps!

it's a good idea to try to take standardized test like SAT and AP tests if you can because you're an international student. however, if you can't get access to them, focus on your essays, resume, etc. other things to make you stand out. the admissions committee understands that international students have different circumstances so don't worry. try reaching out to other international kids in UT to see what they did. hope that helps!

@whatdidlinzsay30464 жыл бұрын
i cannot speak for the college administrators but grades prob matter more. cuz your grades have to do with rank and gpa. your ap test scores just give you college credit. im pretty sure you don't even have to submit all your ap scores before your application. i doubt they check your ap scores but that's just my opinion :)

Idk if ur still in hs but colleges assess the rigor of your school's curriculum, if your school didn't offer aps you are fine. If your school has honors or you can do courses over the summer to get ahead I would do that. however, getting into ut Austin as an international student is much harder.
