In the Jubilee episode, she said that she was LUCKY for each of the 17 schools she was admitted to! It’s a huge accomplishment on her part! If you don’t support or like it, then maybe don’t watch. I’m American, basically it means she’s hella good at test taking and reasoning knowledge, like super good, I’m talking top .5-1% of the whole US. However, what’s even more impressive are her AP scores. The AP program consists basically of classes you take that give you college credit if you pass the exam at the end of the year, the scores range from 1-5, with a 3 being passing. Typically people only get a couple of 4s and maybe a 5 here or there, but this girl got 5s on multiple subjects year after year, as well as taking insane classes and being very young to do both of those things. Looking at the scores, it almost seems as for her it’s not so much the scores that mattered in her acceptance to all these top universities, but how early she achieved them.

@Claudia-ty5yr4 жыл бұрын
@@Syphxi it is definitely on a 5 point scale. A 4.7 in a 4.0 scale is impossible, how would that even work?
@Syphxi4 жыл бұрын
Claudia Marquez not impossible, if you attend a 4x4 school with AP Classes offered from freshman year to senior year then it’s very possible. Taking 3/4 AP classes and acing every class all four years will get you a 4.75 GPA or just taking all 4/4 and ending with a 5.0. Granted I’m not sure if there are schools on a 4x4 that offer that many AP courses this is just theoretical. As an example our valedictorian had a 4.4 and freshman year had no AP’s offered.
@Claudia-ty5yr4 жыл бұрын
@@Syphxi I'm well aware of what happens when you take ap classes (I've taken 7), but if your school gives ap classes a bigger weight than regular (say 5 instead of 4), then it's no longer a 4.0 scale. My school does both, so my unweighted gpa (where every class is 4 points no matter what) is 4.0, and my weighted gpa (where honors classes are 4.5 and APs are 5) is 5.0. But the point is that when any class is counted as more than 4 points, it's not a 4.0 scale anymore

They might be prestigious but I'm looking for quality in terms of new-age innovation not just reputation. That's why MIT and even Imperial College are better. There's no secret to math, its consistent practice, and review. What I would recommend is starting a question log in a spreadsheet and keep track of the questions you get wrong and right. Pinpoint where you are making the most of your mistakes and study those subject areas (Geometry, Algebra, word problems etc). Lastly, keep track of where you are making "careless" mistakes. Careless mistakes are not careless mistakes if you keep repeating them, make a conscious effort to identify those repeat mistakes.

@@michaelli6689 Thanks! The spreadsheet is a really good idea. It's just frustrating because I bust my ass spending hours studying for math with no results. My parents don't get it, they just assume that I'm good at it because I get good grades. I swear, once I graduate high school I will never touch another math problem.
@michaelli66894 жыл бұрын
@@pellaw8011 Looks like you are a natural Reader and Writer, judging from your English and Reading scores. Lucky for you Math competency is pretty predictable in terms of improvement compared to softer subjects like English and Reading. If you track your mistakes its a done deal you will slowly but surely improve. Keep on doing problems and recording problems in that spreadsheet you get wrong and take note of the subject. After you do around 200 ish math problems you will see a pattern. Trust me I'm studying data science XD.

Hello Cassandra! Just wanted to say you really inspired me... I'm from Singapore and I've been thinking of applying to Ivy League in the US. However it's a big decision for me as it means I'll have to study overseas and I worry I won't do well enough to be considered. I'm in the IBDP now and even though it's stressful, seeing stories like yours motivates me so much to continue working hard! :)

this is a great idea for a video!!! can't cover it all in one comment, but a short summary: I spent a lot of time in Creative Writing (specifically poetry and playwriting),entertainment journalism, and film/book critic!!!
That’s so amazing! I’m so proud of you and all you have accomplished. I hope to one day be a fraction as successful as you.

I was given a chance to take the ACT/SAT in 7th grade(last year). My mom lost the paper, so I couldn’t take it in the fall and we were away during vacation in the spring. I’m upset at her for losing something so valuable to me, but I’m also upset at myself for not holding on to it and leaving the responsibility on me. I’m never gonna forget missing that chance. Ever.
@CassandraHsiao5 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't take it in 7th or 8th grade if you're just using it to apply colleges. Colleges don't accept 7th or 8th grade scores.
@CassandraHsiao5 жыл бұрын
It may be better for you take the PSAT/PACT, in 10th grade and then wait till 11th grade to take the SAT/ACT.

All the people in the comments are being so negative towards themselves :(( guys remember that for most Ivy Leagues, grades isn't the only factor that they look at. They also look at your passions and how you gave back to the community. Cassandra's grades were really impressive and she deserved to get in for all hard work she put in, but that doesn't mean that you have to be a straight A student :)

I would generally consider my English not to be very bad. I study the language and have been studying at a boarding school for a certain time. Now I have to say that when I examine your language skills, I see that you think in the language, have totally taken it and subconsciously use it. I would love to get to that point. My English meets the standards of C1 with a tendency towards C2. To gain more fluidity and confidence with the language I would very much like to ask for your advice. Perhaps you can reflect on what has helped you and help you to use English at the level of speaking and writing. Thank you very much, I appreciate it. What I probably need is a bit more time of exposure to the language) My brain and consciousnesses simply need more time to be completely accustomed to the language i am learning. Any advice on how to reach this?
