How do you get your bunny (or other pets) to the vet? They always seem to sense it 🙈

Bring treats with me to the vet, put the water bottle or bowl in the carrier, add hay and pellets in the carrier so it's kinda like a miniature version of their x pen at home, and give them treats at the end. Lots of pets as well.

This way they kinda learn that going to the vet results in treats, so they dont mind going anymore, and we do fairly regular car journeys so they get use to the car so we can take them on trips too.

The Bunnies who lived with me were very gourmand and never resisted some treats. When I had to go to the vet, I used this to frame them. But no way 🚫 It never worked. As you said, they always sensed it. So I had to run in the whole flat till I caught them. Quite an adventure 😅! Once they were back at home, they were sulking, seriously!

Aww I hope Bobo is okay! My bunnies believe it or not like the vets, my vet gives them treats at the end and they know they do as well so it's so easy to get them to get in the carrier hah

Yes 🙂, bring treats to the vets so on the way back you can give them treats, making them look forward to going to the vets as they now have a good memory with the vets. Going to the vets = lots of treats! You can also give them new toys when they get back too 😊

That didn't look too complicated. But buns always do seem to know what's up. I leave the carrier out by my bun BeBe's play area 24/7 so that she doesn't get frightened by it. Still it's a hassle when time comes to put her in it. Please keep us informed as to Bobo's heart issue. He's too little and pretty to be ill.

Ya, they always sense it! I didn't say anything lol. if it's just Bobo going for a check-up. I just pick him up with my hand and then put him on my carrier and head out. It's less than a minute. Ellie hates the vet so I need to have a place to corner her sometimes.

Oh, Ellie is mean! But smart. Like a kid playing parents off on each other! 😂 You have a chore getting them to the vets! Luckily mine just hop into the carrier with no issues! I think their curiosity gets the better of them. 😄🐇😍 Thankfully our vets are literally 5 minute walk, I can see it from my back garden! 👍🧑‍⚕️ I always give treats after a vet visit, so they feel it 2as worth it. 🤗🐰

Nice! Ours is a 10 mins drive away. Not too bad, wish it was closer. Vet day is kinda like our cheat day for the buns. They get so much treats.

Yeah, I have to take my bunny to the vet soon. Not sure how well that’s going to go, for two reasons. One, he hasn’t seen a vet in 4 years because he got diagnosed with E. cuniculi and the fear was always thar frequent car rides could stress him out enough to cause a seizure. Two, we are going to a different vet clinic and new vet because our old one retired. Wish me luck. Lol

I took the video last summer. It's been managed by medication for 6 months now. So far it has been ok. Ellie is great.

My bun is so smart. We have nail clippers but for his first time we didn’t want to d experiment with him, so my sister found a place to go too. They were really good but he was frightened. Poor guy peed in his carrier so when my sister opened it at the vet (it’s 10 minutes away), he had pee over him. It being his first time, he was scared. And in the car he heard my sister and mom speaking so he was pissed at them 😂 he thumped at them for 2 and a half hours. Luckily I stayed home and he stayed immediately by me and I gave him treats and love to assure him it’s okay. Unfortunately we have to get another nail trim (bunny nails are delicate and he does not like anyone touching his back paws!), and I don’t think he’ll be happy. He doesn’t mind the carrier because sometimes we take him outside. But if we keep him in it for more than 3 minutes I know he will freak out.

Cool carrier! Poor Ellie getting so stressed and hot, I hate how warm vet's offices are 🙁. She recovered so well, though! my late doe Olive was absolutely terrible about the car esp when I first got her, she would take a long time to recover from any ride...the only thing that helped was, unfortunately, more trips. Bobo eats hay in the carrier, though, that's awesome! For mine going to the vet is fun for the boy, I just scoop him up (I just have to remember to have him use the box first so the puppy pad isn't wet for the whole trip, oops) and my girl is always in her pen/condo before vet (early AM since she has dentals and stays all day, unless it's an emergency appointment or vaccine) so it's a matter of getting her to leave one of the corners I can't pick her up from. No treat will have an effect on her (just make her associate the smell with stress, no good) so I usually get her to try to pounce me and run past so I can scoop her. It's no fun but the rest of the time she's actually really easy to handle, so long as she's held football style.

How did the vet find out he has heart disease? Was it the blood panel? Should all rabbits get a blood panel and how often? Poor bobo.

BTW, the pen you're using to corral them--the black one--is really dangerous for bunnies to be in for any amount of time that might have them standing on the sides: the rings that hold the panels together are too loose and rabbits can get their nails caught inside them and pulled out. I know b/c I used one with my late doe while on vacation and she lost a nail before I realized. How you're using it is fine, obviously, they're only in there for a moment, but people should know you must cover the places where the panels join before putting bunny in there. I use those pens for my current due but I wrap them all completely in fabric tarps. I'm sure those rings could also be replaced with something tighter, but the pen would then be harder to manipulate.

I took 3/6 for vaccinations today, the vet had no idea how to hold them. They picked them up with there legs dangling and they started to kick out all stressed. My baby boy kicked and broke her smart watch as revenge 😜
