Dude, thanks for taking the time to make this. Very useful. I think the hardest part has been that initial Zero to HSK 2 period. The language, the sounds were all brand new. Just getting used to the new words takes time. But yeah I wish Chinese people would take the time to make more children's cartoons so foreigners can learn the language in a fun way.

You don't need to be a full-time student to reach a high level. In fact, if you live in China, most of your learning will be done outside of the classroom. A tutor, a textbook and a language learning environment is more than enough. If you're an English teacher, can literally learn while you are working.

I just used the Super Chinese app. I like it. It is useful. Our world depends on A.I. these days. I took the test and it put me at level 8. I think it is fair. I also use Developmental Chinese, but a different version from you, I think. I live in Nanjing

Great video with some tips I haven't heard before. I am part way through HSK 5 book 1 and I want to ditch it. Which textbook do you recommend? I see you have the speaking textbook...

Awesome video. Cheers. Pleco on life long subscription has been my best friend for years now. PS : Would anyone agree with me that HSK is a money-making racket & totally useless to daily life chinese conversations and that as foreigners we are "English ATMs" to practice English on us?

我很欣赏你的毅力和勇气。中文一开始会让外国人觉得很难,但是一旦过了最初阶段,就会让人感觉中文其实很简单,因为语法和语序都很简单。等过了中级阶段,想要学的更深的时候,中文就变得极其的难,因为涉及到很多历史和文化因素了,比如成语和古文,还有一些谚语的隐喻。

Write radical and add stroke to change Character. Eg 木,add stroke 林,材,李,休... Write 麻 add stroke to change 麻将,磨,摩,糜烂,痳,淋雨。 氵related to water add stroke 海洋,河,江湖,江。 冫related to low temperature Eg 冰,冲凉,冷。speak to handphone screen. For iPhone users download Sogou keyboard. 用我的办法。只需要写100个字。然后变成1000个字。其他这猜测字的意思。用语音变文字,有不对就修改。

yeah, it feels that the reality to reach middle level would be at least 1h per day: vocaublary, grammar, writing. And hours and hours extra of chinese drama series. Despite my primary language is Russian, - Chinese is still quite a challenge. English was always quite an exploisoin in my head.

TV dramas: I use English subtitles to understand, Mandarin subtitles to learn, and choose dramas that keep me interested. I do other things to learn, but most are too boring. I can do this for an hour or two every day.

Just a bit of constructive criticism: I recommend you work more on your tones, mate. You made several mistakes here, and you only said a few sentences. And the fact that you uploaded it like that tells me you probably didn't even notice. I would work hard on it now before it becomes an ingrained habit.

You think you can do better? I've been learning Chinese for 2 years, in this short time I self studied to a near fluent level all whilst working full time. Out of the 100 or so foreigners I've met in China so far, only 1 has spoken better Chinese than me and he has been here for 20 years! I regularly put foreigners to shame for their absolute terrible Chinese. If you think I'm bad then jesus you have high expectations. Btw studying tones is a waste of time, the way to learn tones is to listen to native speakers daily and imitate their way of pronunciation. I don't use a textbook to learn tones.
@xuexizhongwen

@@andre5095 It's not a competition, but yes, my tones are much better. And I never said to study tones from a textbook... I was just giving you advice. It has nothing to do with expectations of any kind. Just telling you the truth, that your tones need some work.

Holy crap, I just checked out old mate's details and he is Half Swedish and Half Aussie....I was wondering why his accent sounded weird in random places. "Learning" is one word that sounds out of place, but, overall his videos are quite useful. I would like to see a video of Andre teaching Chinese people Australian insults. Starting with - "I hope all your chooks turn into emus and kick your shithouse down".
