Andi, awesome review. I have it, and it works beautifully well. We too cut the cable and never been happier! Well done, and I’m a new subscriber.

Their is No 4k tv yet over air yet,most 3.0 channels are 1080p and 720p for now until transition is complete,the only advantage right now is 1080p and 720p on most sub channels if available.the new standard supports 4k and above just no programming yet in 4k.

I need to get a big enough minnie tower to install an antenna on first. Too many large trees. Nice video and thanks for the knowledge.

How far are you from local station towers? I installed my antenna in the attic and it works wonderfully.

The good news about ATSC 3.0 is that I believe it transmits at a lower frequency and your ability to pick the signal up at further distances may be better with the right sized antenna. Just like the change from analog to digital TV back in 2009, I believe that one day everyone's going to have to move to ATSC 3.0 anyway.

You're getting 1080p60 with ATSC 3.0. There is no 4K OTA yet. It's much better than current 1080i, but don't be fooled. No 4k is available. That's 5-10 years out.

There is some 4K OTA. This 4K channel KMCF launched last week in my area in central California. “Programming for KMCF will be 4K productions including super high-definition NASA programming,” the company said in a statement. “There is a limited supply of 4K programming available at this time but with the launch of ATSC 3.0 now, Cocola Broadcasting will be able to add new 4K programming as it becomes available.”.

Do they have a wireless version of this box
@AndiWofford3 жыл бұрын
Remember that this device can go anywhere, so it doesn't need to be close to a TV. Assuming you have existing coax in your house, I would tap that somewhere near where your router is and plug it straight in. Otherwise if you feel you must do it wirelessly, there's so many options like powerline, 2.5 Gbps moca, or something plain like this: amzn.to/3xhxtcM

In central Florida and 30 other markets you can get ATSC 3.0, including PBS (channel 24 from Orlando). Much easier for me to get than the non ATSC 3.0 channels.

While the HDHOMERUN is a wonderful product the review is a little misleading especially the title. 4k tv isn't actually available because no one is broadcasts it. Currently 3.0 broadcasts are 1080p max. My area only has two low power stations at different ends of the market sending 3 720p simocasts out. The antenna you recommend also seems like a great deal but if you check out antenna man's channel that's actually a really horrible one. It has a noisy preamp that tends to fail. Also the rotor usually fails in a year or less especially if it's outside or in a hot attic. It actually would be a great small antenna if it wasnt poorly made but alas its cheap Chinese junk and is sold under many brands even at Wal-Mart. Also no antenna can actually have 100+ Mile range between of the curvature of the earth 70-80 miles is about the best even Large antennas can do under ideal conditions. Plex and channels dvr are great media server software solutions for creating a dvr.

I do not believe that 3.0 is more saturated than 1.0. And I don't care about surround sound, because my wife won't let me put speakers and wire around the living room. What I am interested in is how much more solid the reception is. Windy days, the Cleveland transmission antenna sway and the signal breaks up. I also struggle to get signal 21 miles away to my 75 mile range outdoor tradition antenna that my wife had me put in the attic. VHF, fox8, does not work at all. Channel 5 and 19 Cleveland often break up for no reason. 4k is exciting, except for the fact that it needs internet, which kinda negates the whole point of cord cutting. Thus, it is not exciting at all. If it doesn't cut into the 35 mbs very much, and affect the 3 other family members watching KZbin at 7mbs, then it would be nice, but I doubt it. In the end, it is about signal stability and nothing else.

I'm in the same situation, I need a better reception ,right now I have a very good antenna and a booster so the only thing that will help my reception is the atsc 3.0 if this new standard have a better reception, so I'm waiting for someone that tell me if this new standard improves the signal reception to buy this box
