Welcome back to Phasmophobia! In this video we go to my least favorite map in the game: Point Hope. I love the way this map looks but I hate playing on it. There is however a special badge that you can only earn on this map. So let's fight through the pain and GET IT! ENJOY!

I actually enjoy Point Hope. The verticality makes it interesting and the stairs are constant line of sight breaks. As for the lights, I turn on one light per floor, being the one at the stairs. With the exception of the first floor entry and front half of the room, you get a path of light all the way up.

It doesn’t prevent all the sanity drain thought. If you want to totally prevent the sanity drain you have to have both lights switches on.

Point hope is my least favourite map, but any map where the ghost ends up in a MASSIVE room can be just as bad. There are several ways to fix these: - Make it so ghosts cannot make absurdly large rooms their ghost room, i.e. no gymnasium ghost in high school, no cell block ghost in Prison (make individual cell blocks ghost rooms instead and maybe have some of them permanently shut or broken). - We have backdoors for both Prison and High School, why not make it so we can drive (teleport) the van to the other side? If we know the ghost room is on the other side of the map it would save a lot of time. It may even be a good idea to do this for Asylum as well but would require adding a backdoor. - Point Hope has a massive center pillar going through every single floor, why not make use of it by turning it into a dumbwaiter? It'd cut off so much time running up and back and forth. - For Point Hope you could even add a ladder outside which teleports you to the top of the map and vice versa, acting like a second entrance door, therefore massively reducing the maximum travel distance.

Making individual cells a ghost room in prison would make the problem much worse. The ghost will still move out of the tiny space and you have the same issue you're complaining about, but now you have to check a million cells for Orbs and freezing temps will be harder to get since it can roam to like 6 nearby rooms if each cell is a room. Even in no evidence runs this fixes literally nothing lol. Even turning just the rows into ghost rooms would be a nightmare for evidence. It would also exponentially increase the chances of the ghost rooms being in the worst part of the map

Honestly, they should ditch the room count when deciding map size, and instead focus more on the longest possible path from truck to ghost room. On all currently small maps (except Point Hope) it takes at most 15-30 seconds to reach any room from the truck. On medium or large maps (plus PH) the longest paths can take from 1 to 3 minutes, in which cases the game can turn into a walking simulator: you are spending more time walking than investigating the ghost.

I've gone back and forth on this map, and I can definitely say it's the worst _small_ map. However, the worst map overall still has to be High School for me. There's nothing in it and nothing to do in it, so you can't even entertain yourself if you have a shy ghost like with the little gimmicks in Point Hope. On top of that, while Point Hope is definitely annoying due to its structure, I think it makes for a nice occasional break from the very horizontal and flat designs the rest of the maps have, at least in concept. In practice, I don't think I'll ever play on it much until they fix the damn sanity drain lol. Also, it's at least pretty to look at and has a cool theme, unlike most of the maps.

I remember hearing a phrase, "gamers don't know what they want." It wasn't until Point Hope I truly felt it. I thought a vertical map, specifically a lighthouse, would be super cool and creepy. The devs listened to the community.... And no one walked away a winner.

I really like the theme of this map. And that's about it. Right now is the Hide and Seek, Hide challenge on this map. I did it once, and that's it, it's one of the few challenges I won't finish because I just don't want to deal with it. Dealing with any aggressive ghost with a ghost room on one of the top floors is such a nightmare to deal with. Crucifixes often don't work because of how far you end up from the ghost room, and The ghost will often end up hunting more than once before you can reach the exit. Which is something you only really see on big maps. The problem is that this is a small map that plays like a big map, and because of that, it makes it really hard to avoid aggressive ghosts. If you're not really good at noticing hunting patterns, then this map is just annoying. And it sucks to hear that even if you are really good at recognizing them that there is issues for those. I hope the map gets fixed, because it's such a cool concept. But as of right now, it's just not fun.

I think the incredible detail of Point Hope is a really positive omen in terms of what we can expect from the revamped farmhouses - in this respect Phasmo map design has been going in an incredibly positive direction recently and I'm very excited to see it applied to some maps which currently have a good scale but very poor detail. It's a shame Point Hope's verticality and subsequent linear nature let it down so hard, and I'm curious what CJ has in mind to counter that; it sounded like he had some thoughts on the matter when you recently played together on this map.

My least favorite map is Brownstone High school since it has bad layout of constant repetitive rooms and also visually outdated compared to other maps

Point Hope could seriously use a lift to quickly transport the player to the upper floors of the lighthouse. The lift should obviously be outside of the play zone to prevent abuse during hunts, but that would also mean that there would be an entrance at a location that would normally be considered "deep inside the map", so not sure how the developers would feel about that. On that note, a lot of maps could definitely use some form of faster travel when outside of the play zone. Traversing the outside of the high school is such a slog that it reminds me of all the walking we have to do in an actual school to go from class to class.

easy fix for that "second" entrance make it go to the very top but you have to go up there first at least once everytime to unlock a gate you will still have to enter the map the normal way and travel up once but then it would be a easy way to get back down and up afterwards

The lift seems like a really good idea actually. And it wouldn't have to outside the area of play, just have it stuck on whatever floor you left it during a hunt. Now, if the player is inside during a hunt, it goes to the nearest floor opens the doors and stays there for the rest of the hunt. Hope you don't get a Deo. And to make it interesting, it releases a ding at every stop so the ghost immediately knows where you are whenever you use it

while doing the challenge mode today (hide and seek on point hope) i had a deogen that spawned on the top floor and instantly rushed towards me. the sound of it banging on the stairs is pretty much the only scary interaction im ever gonna get out of this map in it's current state. also i got saved by the game from a spirit that walked in the closet i was hiding in and then immediedly walked out again, cool.

Top floor Deogens are fun because if your hunts aren't cursed, it can't reach you on the bottom floor in the little bathroom.

I like this map and it mostly likes me, but that's probably because I play on 3 evidence. I can't imagine doing for example Myling tests on this map, beyond more frequent paramic voices or if it's on the bottom floor. I love playing in VR but Point Hope is terrible for framerate, even on fairly decent hardware. I'm not affected by motion sickness but there is a SteamVR bug where if you're using a Vive wand and take your thumb off of the touchpad, it can sometimes act stuck as if your finger was still there, so you'd sometimes be spinning in circles (on smooth turn) even after you stopped meaning to, this going on until you touch that touchpad again. I get this a lot, too, doing a lot of turning in the smaller maps as well.

One thing that could help, and this might be a hot topic, make it so if the ghost is not actively hunting your sprint speed lasts for 8 seconds and gets forced to the normal sprint speed when the hunt starts, That way the set up time isn’t painful on bigger maps but still causes tension during hunts

Every time I hear the argument that getting all of the evidence items to the room takes too many trips I just think about how this game was made with multiplayer in mind. But if there's an issue with carrying items, why don't they just make it so solo players can hold 4 or 5 items instead of 3.

i've been wanting that change for single player for YEARS. the pacing of the game would be so much nicer, and i think is something that makes every solo main hate this map. so unfortunate, it's one of my favorite maps to play with my more casual friends but i'd love to play it solo and not have an awful time like insym xd

I've never really played much on point hope, I just played a round to get the ferryman badge and was lucky enough to get my ghost on the lowest floor, I only had to run up and down a couple times but from that I can appreciate how annoying a top floor ghost would be. The pully system to lift items up is a really good idea to make life easier

So, whilst a dumbwaiter system could be a way to lessen the frustration of this map (By allowing you to put items from the bottom floor and pull them all at once high up), it's not going to deal with the overall tedious problem of ghost rooms very far away from the truck. I honestly think the game needs some sort of equipment to allow you to carry multiple items, like a duffel bag or backpack. You can't access the items without taking them out the bag, but it allows you to transport several extra items across maps like this or the asylum. If there absolutely has to be some sort of drawback for the game, maybe lower movement speed when carrying it or something. I dunno, but some sort of bag to let us transport more at once seems like the most elegant solution at the moment.

I usually don't comment even if I like something but bro you got me today!!😂 I don't watch any gaming or streamer youtubes but insym just hits different, like I can't get enough of his vibes✨️🫡 I have to watch at least one video of him per day or my day feels Hella boring🙊😂. So thank you for brightening up my mood by playing horror games which is actually my favorite genre I could literally fall asleep when watching at night withyou and the ghost just screaming in bg😂😌

An idea my boyfriend had, was for there to be a lift, to make it easier to travel to floors, it can only work when the breaker is on, and ghost hunts cause it to malfunction as well like with the lights.

My least favorite map is Prison, I get a sense of dread everytime I go on that map for no reason. It’s just also just really complicated for a medium map, somehow even Sunny Meadows is easier to navigate than the Prison. Then again, I’m probably insane because Sunny Meadows is one of my favorite maps in the game, I just love its aesthetic, lore, and size even.

What I hate the most about prison is when the ghost spawns in the cell block. Not only is there literally no good hiding spots, I also have to walk so far just to drop all of my gear there. It takes such a long time and drains so much sanity.

it would be really nice if they added ai to the ghost to check the whole staircase, similar to what they did with door hiding- then they could maybe add some looping spots to balance it and make the map more fun 🤷‍♀️

Don't most staircases in homes have a light switch at the top and bottom of the stairs that flick the same lights on/off? Could just do that for each room, and have one switch control all lights on the floor?

I’ve did the Easter Egg with my brother and he was in awe with how gorgeous the UV ghosts looked. As for the map, getting rid of the double switches and making it a medium map would be tremendous upgrades. I enjoy Point Hope because it’s such a unique map but, it could be improved upon.

I had a ghost at the top by the light and he killed me on the stairs below the light. Those spiral stairs aren’t safe nd the ghost can kill thru them

I was one of those folks. Point Hope is also objectively the most special map too because of special items, sounds, etc. It blows the OG maps out of the water. But I had no idea the vertical nature of sound and Ghost abilities was this bad until Point Hope made it obvious. Plus with it being made a small map even though it plays like a medium map, but you can't even make it a medium map because of light switch restrictions and how most rooms need at least two switches to light up

They just handled it poorly. Insym did a really good job of describing it's flaws, but I don't think it's the worst. Sunny meadows and highschool are both contending for that spot purely on size alone. I love sunny meadows restricted though.

Proposal for new title: 90 Minutes of Insym hating Point Hope and HE GETS INCREASINGLY MORE ANNOYED xD But fr, I dislike Point Hope for the same reasons. Such a shame, too. Map looks gorgeous, but plays like a sports car with rectangular wheels.

Sound its bugged as fuck in phasmo, if ghost is floor above or below i cant recognize where he is by sound... Its enough to enter i floor od stairs and sound ingame is rlly bad

I don't think so. Yurei abilities manifest as two EMF 2 signals right on top of each other in the same spot on the chosen door, as shown by a tier 3 EMF reader. As far as I know, and I could be wrong, there's no failsafe tell for when it does its thing without a door nearby.

If you want to make it that they want to balance the light switches on a map just make it balanced per each individual map... so half the ammount of switches availible and lower the ammount of switches that can be turned on before breaker "breaks".

Naaa, prison ain't a terrible map. If you get a cell block ghost those are pretty miserable, but otherwise Prison has plenty to interact with, small-ish rooms (for a medium map), and the only copy paste rooms are the cellblocks.

I'm not huge on stating my opinion, but if you don't like the map, you don't have to play it. Nice and simple. It's a tall ass light house, which is exactly what it is. That's Ike saying sunny meadows sucks because you got the ghost that is the furthest away.

He stated that it's not *just* the time to get more equipment, it's that it's a combination of multiple factors. Size is one part of it, but Sunny Meadows doesn't have the same technical aspects that make Point Hope miserable. A point I agree with.

@davidlewis1418 Again, don't play it. Of you choose to do something that you know for a fact you don't like. That doesn't make it the Devs or the maps' fault. Plenty of people enjoy the map, and the distance he has to carry his equipment is RNG. What, would you rather it be a janky lighthouse with low ceilings to reduce the stair climb and wide dumb stairways.

@@brandonwilson7434 "Just don't play it" is a terrible response to constructive criticism. I would put good money that no one plays a map because they want to carry equipment for 6+ minutes and developers don't make map designs with long spans of equipment hauling being integral to the intended experience. And no one's trying to put blame anywhere, that's just you. So pump the brakes a bit. 1) Insym even suggests a dumbwaiter in the central pillar, could put 3 bits of equipment and a panel to where the dumbwaiter goes. 2) Even though the limited lighting would still be a problem, I'd prefer just moving it to a medium sized map as the least "disruptive" change. It won't cut down on the equipment hauling issue, but it makes it less problematic overall while also rewarding players more for picking the map. I still enjoy Prison, Sunny Meadows, and Maple even when I get a far ghost. It's just a combination of factors that make Point Hope annoying for me, one of which is that your sanity drains insanely fast because it's falsely labeled as a "small" map, but with the equipment hauls of a medium/large map.
