What an awesome place, worth more than any numbers on a computer screen. Hope it stays with you and thank you very much for sharing it with us!

I hope you keep it for generations to come. They aren't making any more land. That's a beautiful piece of family property your family has.

To have a wonderful heritage ranch like that is such a 10:56 privilege. I do hope it can be kept in the family for future generations. Once it is sold off, then what?! So it eases a few people's pocketbooks for a while, but what is lost is priceless.😢

I spent a lot of my youth digging round rocks out of my parents' place. I'm glad they weren't as big as your round rock. our biggest was too big to pick up with the tractor, but we were still able to roll it out of the way. my guess would be that the old house was built where it was, because it wasn't a good place for parking cows. cows don't have very good parking brakes, and if you parked one there, it might roll down the hill into the creek. sop they parked the house there to leave the good parking places for the cows.

The Cowboy Detective mentioned how in Appalachia the houses were built on the worst land to preserve the good land for farming and dry creek beds were the main roads most of the time. I got detoured once from Ohio through WV and in Western Va. I came across a house dang near suspended over a creek long since abandoned.

I think your family's ranch is a perfect definition of the term "God's Country" or "Big Sky Country". Although I am sure there's many more terms that would fit such an amazing bit of nature. Also, I couldn't tell you what you should do or how or why... Were it mine. I would fight tooth and nail to keep every square foot that I could. When the prospect of big money comes to mind, people forget that they have a mind... And, if keeping it becomes impossible, I would certainly take whatever were my share and find another slice of heaven to call my own. Lots of "ifs". Thank you for sharing it with the rest of us. I subscribed because of your sawmill and firewood endeavors. Then I learned a how you log with a pickup truck. Which was awesome by the way... Then i seen the ranch. I really appreciate your channel sir. Again, thank you for sharing it.

Beautiful Michael. I think I get the same feelings as you when I’m on my land in the hills of New Hampshire. Dealing with multi owners of properties over multiple generations is a very difficult thing I hope it works out for you and doesn’t end up in the pot owners hands.

Heaven landed on your lap! I hope to carve out something similar in Oregon. So many ranches going derelict because younger generations don't want to manage them. I enjoy the history. Thank you!

Amazing family history in southern Oregon. You might want to let your KZbinrs know what the area was like at the time that your family first arrived in the 1860s.

Hope you can keep it. Is good that a place be owned by those who love it. Vs the logging companies for whom it is just an asset in the balance sheet. As a fallback you have the (new) coast property?

Nice place! As for the cattle drinking out of the pool, I would put a watering trough down below it and just maybe they will drink out it instead. But, know the nature of cows;"Maybe not!"

Tell them you never sell land. They are printing new money every day. There is only so much land. It is being used productively soooo, seems like it is being cared for. :)

Selling that land would be a mistake, I think. You won't get what it's worth, and that land offers the family a life you just can't get elsewhere. What's money, compared to that; it's what I'm seeing. I do see the work and investment associated with the property, but to me that's more living than anything. Thanks, Michael.

@@Version135 it is a deep logic to ponder indeed. It's a book in of itself, and many truths are not known; but suffice to say the people are not being lead right, for this is a mess; and to have a piece of land like that is absolutely so much better than downtown seven days a week.

That’s sad. Your great grandparent would hate to see it sold and so would I. Any deed on land passed down should go to whoever wishes to manage it and only sell if no one is able to take over the taxes. Write it in your will!
