The thing about silicones is that, its okay to use as long as you clarify your hair every *4-6 weeks*(NOT EVERY WEEK) to prevent buildup. But if you're someone who doesn't clarify with a shampoo that has sulfate in order to get the silicone out then you're gonna have buildup of that silicone.

I paused at 11:12 to comment ❤❤❤ You're doing wonderfully! I personally do the exact same steps. I remember when I was about 15-16+ (am 20 now) being interested in dyeing my hair to change it up, but ever since my aunt (who has cosmetology experience) & my mom advised me over how my hair's naturally as-is beautiful; to reconsider, - I actually ended up growing to recognize my natural hair color & loving it instead. So, I made an oath to actually not dye my hair & overtime, I'm happy on said decision. I've come to realize, there is not a single hair box dye that compares nor ever beats my own natural hair color. So that's my personal experienced intake over it lol, am grateful. I just got my ends evenly trimmed a few days ago, but told the stylist that I wanted the growing front sections of my hair (exactly relatable to your situation; I accidentally had a bangs-gone-wrong case of my side hair + front pieces cut into bangs & they were growing great until I had my stylist in the past cut it to even it out which helped greatly but also affect my length regrowth- Anyway, I told her to not cut the front but to even out the back only & thankfully that worked out for me). I've noticed, products surprisingly grease up my hair, which used to not happen as much. And plastic combs ie create stringy and/or static hair on me. It's like coming to realize I've developed fine hair overtime, likely in due to heat styling, and my ends also got mistreated, so I've recently got a clean trim for it which helped a Ton. Thankfully my ends grow quickly. My bangs' front area is what I'm really wanting to grow out again... I feel it'll take at least another year or two to have it more ideal. I did a coconut oil treatment, clarified washed about 3x & deep conditioned + then airdryed & styled it to where it lasted me a very long time. Until the said haircare salon appt I had recently. Hair growth' an interesting journey. I feel simply eating up our proteins, drinking Lots of water, resting up as we can, and simply not focusing on it as much... To also following said steps, will be what helps our hair grow. Treatments like coconut oil every now & again as prepoos, genuinely help. I left it in for 2 hrs+. 💯💯🙏🏼♥️

“The hairstylist is more focused on the health of your hair...” I agree and that’s a good thing. When we take care of our hair and do what we need to, then the ends won’t need to have a lot taken off. Prolonging getting trims/ putting it off by doing it yourself is counter productive. It’s hard but find a stylist that you trust and still go to a professional to get your ends trimmed! Every season is a great time frame. Not too often but not so long that your ends are too far gone!
