Te urmaresc de foarte mult timp. Sunt mandru ca esti roman! Esti singura persoana din Romania care are aceasta viziune. Bravo! Mi-as dori sa am ocazia sa fiu prezent la un masterclass de al tau. Spor in toate!

Congratulations on the new addition to your family! I'm curious, could you please share the lenses you used with the 4D for this clip, and whether you relied on auto focus or a focus puller? Thanks a bunch!
@AlexDonАй бұрын
Thanks a lot Bill! Good question, we used the Nisi Athena on the Ronin 4D and we had them calibrated so that it can use AF, we did have a focus puller only assist the AF in some situations where multiple people where in the shot and AF didn’t know who to pick for focus

The movie will be available on Netflix? Will you grade this movie? Those LUTs are for Rec709? As far as i know Netflix demand nowadays to grade in HDR, deliver in IMF package, no?
@AlexDonАй бұрын
yes, it will first be in Romanian Cinemas and then on Netflix. We will have two grading phase, one for cinema and one for Netflix. The one I presented is a reference grade to make sure we agree on the look and feel of the film. But yeah the Artlist Luts are for Rec709.

@AlexDon i see, im just a noob who loves HDR, i don't try here to look smart or anything because i dont even own a camera but wouldn't be easier to first grade in HDR then to do a deliverable in SDR derived from that HDR grade? Can the director monitor in PQ? If you will use more than one camera brand/models and record in different color spaces and gama you could unify the shots under a common color gamut and gama like DaVinci Wide Gamut/Intermediate (if you're using Resolve Studio) and set the output color space for HDR to Rec2020 and EOTF ST 2084 (1000 or 2000,4000 nits like the director wants his highest nit value), then making a LUT to use on the set if he can monitor in PQ. You can also set the output gama to Rec2020 and limit it to P3 D65 if your mastering monitor covers just P3. Again, im not trying to give advice to someone like you who's in this line of work for some long time now but you mentioned Netflix and i thought i can give my two cents on HDR. Also for a Dolby Vision deliverable you need a license from Dolby Laboratories. I would love to be on filming sets to learn more about cinematography, your friend who helps you is lucky, i live in Oradea, born in Cluj ( ;

@AlexDon okay, i love cinematography and i like materials graded in HDR, im just an enthusiast and nothing more. I just wanted to know if wouldn't be easier to first grade in HDR then to do a deliverable in SDR derived from that HDR grade? Can the director monitor in PQ? If you will use more than one camera brand/models and record in different color spaces and gama you could unify the shots under a common color gamut and gama like DaVinci Wide Gamut/Intermediate (if you're using Resolve Studio) and set the output color space for HDR to Rec2020 and EOTF ST 2084 (1000 or 2000,4000 nits like the director wants his highest nit value), then make a LUT in that color space to use on the set if the director can monitor in PQ. Im not trying to give advice to someone like you who's in this line of work for some long time now but you mentioned Netflix and i thought i can give my two cents on HDR as i know Netflix has some rules on how the deliverables must be. Also for a Dolby Vision deliverable you need a license from Dolby Laboratories. I would love to be on filming sets to learn more about cinematography, your friend who helps you is lucky. Oradea here, te salut!

@@AexoeroV yes your method seems the most logical but everyone has different workflows, I also edited the film and had very limited time so I went on the faster route to finish editing, make a grade that looks pretty good and send it to review and modifications. When everything is going to be finalised in terms of editing, only then I'm going to focus more on colors and make it shine even more.
