How I Joined the ISB! | Star Wars Costume Review and How-To

A first here on the channel: I'm going over an entire Star Wars Costume! These Imperial Officers, as seen in the DisneyPlus streaming show, Andor, are part of the feared Imperial Security Bureau. Dedra Meero, Major Partagaz and Colonel Wulf Yularen are all part of this secretive, sadistic unit.
Well, I managed to put together an entire high quality costume so I could be an ISB Captain! I'll show you how I did it, where all the parts came from and some tips and tricks I learned along the way!

Thank you very much, Simon! I had fun putting it together, and wearing it for the video and the photos, but I have NO IDEA when or where I will use it again! haha! And I agree! After watching Rogue One, Solo, and Andor, I'm realizing that, according to current canon apparently, there are a TON of different Imperial variations, and many variations within standard uniforms. I suppose that gives us tons of options for figures and costumes, but it's a bit disconcerting when you think about the overall lack of uniformity. Absolutely fantastic video, it is definitely going to be of great help for people wanting to make these costumes themselves. And it is greatly appreciated. Am with you on this, the isb officer is one of my favorite imperial officer looks. Except for maybe grand admiral thrawn who is also in a white suit but with some more gold details on the shoulders, and a different rank plaque. Am seriously considering making one of these myself, as it just looks too good! This video will be of great use when/if i decide to do this.

The funny thing is that I learned that trick with the pants while wearing something like them, and the boots, as part of my uniform for over three years. haha! If I could sew, I would say to add an elastic stirrup to the bottom of the pants. That works even better to hold them taught and inside your boot. @PaulsCollectibles absolutely I just finished andor last night so it went perfect with that. I have a few questions if you have time, 1 I don't live near an ikea if I get them shipped how hard are they to build and 2 do you know where to get a very good mandalorian outfit ?

@@Murrayfan No problem at all. I assume your first question is about my Detolf cabinets. They are not difficult, per se, to build. However, they are essentially just large panes of glass stood up and held together with two flat boards. So, I recommend wearing gloves while building them, otherwise you'll be cleaning fingerprints for hours afterwards. I also recommend you get a helper, because it is nearly impossible to set the glass up AND screw the boards in place by yourself. Be sure you look closely at the shipping cost, also. Ikea doesn't seem to like to ship things, and I have seen that they charge an exorbitant amount of money to do so. As far as your second question goes, I will readily admit that I am woefully lacking in knowledge when it comes to costumes. I have dealt with Imperial Surplus to acquire and built a Transport Trooper costume, and was very happy with their service and support. Plus he has a ton of YouTbue tutorials to walk you through the process. If I had to make a quick recommendation for Mandalorian armor, I would say go with them. (Link at the end of this reply.) Otherwise, join the 501st Legion forums for the Mandalorian Mercs and ask around in there. Those guys have always been cordial with me, especially if you are polite and patient. And happy hunting! Thanks, Matt! And yeah, I know the feeling. Those boots were part of my uniform when I was SIGNIFICANTLY thinner! They are a BEAR to get on now that I am heavier and less flexible! haha! And I'm already fat, but adding that belt OVER the tunic just makes me look rotund! haha! I love the costume so much, I just ignore all that, though! i have the olive/gray from Anovos days and was told it'd be similar to this tunic but been on the fence with getting Denuo Novos' white tunic as i was afraid those clips for the cape were permanent but after you confirming they are removable and also confirming up close what the stitching patterns are i'll definitely be ordering this 🤙🏼

Oh, that's good to hear, Ian! I'm glad this video was helpful then. Yeah, those four plastic clips are just sewn on. You can carefully cut the thread with a razor blade or Exacto knife and they come right off. There will be residual wrinkling where they were, but I steamed mine out with a hand steamer while I was de-wrinkling the rest of the garment. Thanks for checking out the video!

The costume looks great Paul. I really enjoyed the in-depth look at each piece and where you got it from. I am going to check out some of those websites and see if anything strikes my fancy, The video was really well done and you look sharp in that get up. One of my favorite looking imperial officers is from Andor as well. I believe it is called imperial officer dark times, they are in all black with a cape. Look forward to your next video. Haha! I say some daft things when I'm trying to not cuss in my videos. I would be flattered if you would make it a household word. And thank you for the kind words about the costume. I'm not much of a cosplayer, and armor-based costumes are usually too small or too restrictive since I'm a larger guy. Thus, when I saw these guys redone in Andor, I was thrilled! It was fun to put together. Plus, after 26 years as a cop, and five years in the Army, I think I pull off the stern, intimidating, space Nazi look pretty good! Haha! How long did the tunic take to get to ya? I’m mulling getting one for some summer conventions in late June, but I don’t wanna order too late.

Marshal, I can't be precise because I did not note the order date and delivery dates. However, after buying this white tunic, and then later, the black tunic, and can say I remember them taking about 10 to 14 days to arrive. Most of that time was the order turnaround at Denuo Novo. Once it finally shipped, it arrived within normal package delivery times. I suggest emailing their customer service to inquire about shipping times to make sure it will arrive reasonably close to when you need it. With only two orders of tunics from them under my belt, I can't say for sure that my experience can be categorized as "average." I hope it works out for you and you end up with a great costume for your conventions. Also, thank you for stopping by and checking out this video!
