It would be nice to hear more about the connection to PayPal. How are you notified if someone has paid you?

I have the PayPal app on my phone and would get push notifications, would also get email notifications too. I found that to be sufficient, did you have another idea in mind for notifications?

@@SingletonSean So when someone paid, you get an email. Probably your program checks the email account in every hour and then turn on the premium feature. I have not other idea, I just wondered if you do this automaticcally or manually, or may be paypal provide you an API.

Oh I see what you mean! The process of turning on premium is instant and entirely automated. Basically, when the user selects their payment method on PayPal, the PayPal SDK gives back a token for the transaction. I make a request to my own server with that token that will process the transaction by calling the PayPal API, and afterwards update the premium flag in the database.

Thanks! Yep, it was mostly all free. The only cost is the Firebase CRON job, which costs about $0.50 per month (pretty much free 😄). Firebase database is free, and I should've mentioned that the NextJS website is hosted on Vercel which is also free.
