Cat, I can relate so much to what you said in this video. Unlike you, I grew up in a Catholic home with no bibles and only going to church on Easter and Christmas. In 2002 I got a pull to read the Bible and get to know Jesus. Like you, I didn’t know there were so many translations of the Bible so I bought a KJV. I tried and struggled for months to read it and when I couldn’t I gave up, put it on my bookshelf and didn’t think about the Bible or God again for ten years, but he wasn’t giving up on me and I again started to feel that pull. That was 2012 and I found the NIV Women’s Devotional Bible and it was amazing, I could not only read it I could understand it. I read it here and there but was not doing it as regularly as I could or should. Then in 2016, my 22 year marriage went through one of the most difficult times and I didn’t know what to do, so I turned to the Lord and my Bible. The rest is history today I read the Bible everyday, I study the Bible, I do scripture writing and in 4 days, will have read the complete bible from front to back for the first time. Even though my transformation may have taken a little longer than some, Psalm 63 best describes it. I went from having two Bibles, one in a translation I didn’t understand to one I read everyday and even though I can’t afford premium Bibles right now, to having 15 in many of the modern translations. This includes study bibles, devotional bibles, coloring bibles, and I try to read and study from all of them. Psalm 63 best describes my transformation and the hunger I feel for the Lord’s word. Last year I got so sick with the flu and all I could think of was being too sick to spend time with the Lord’s word. I too go wake up thinking of the Lord and have recently added prayer devotionals right before I go to sleep, so the he has become the first and last thing I think of everyday. I have promised to read the Bible every year and in 2024, hope to read it chronologically along with my studies, my devotions, scripture writing and memorizing. While my family respects and has even gifted me many of my bibles, they don’t understand my passion for it. They don’t understand why I prefer them to the latest TV shows or why I “want” so many Bibles. With the Lord’s help, hope to one day help them understand and develop a desire to understand. As for your son, I agree, that was all the Lord. In 2019 I fell down a flight of stairs and damaged my spine, I needed emergency spinal cord surgery or I would be a quadriplegic. Three months after my fall, I was sitting at my desk at work I still suffer with a great deal of pain, but I pray to the Lord, every day that he help me deal with it. Like always he never fails me. God Bless you and thank you for sharing your walk with the Lord with us. It means so much to so many🙏🏻❤️

You're right! 2 years ago I bought a random bible; but wasn't too happy with it. I wanted to take notes INSIDE ... finally had extra money and bought the she reads truth last night. I'm excited. I know I can read it since it's an easy read.

I can relate. I grew up in a kjv only home and I wanted to read the bible so bad I tried so many times I can't even tell you how many and I'd always stop a few chapters into Genesis because it literally made no sense to me. I couldn't connect to kjv at all. And I never knew about different bibles until after I got married and moved out. It sounds silly but I had no idea about other translations, had no idea another translation existed. Didn't know about study bibles or journal bibles. I remember the day I discovered other translations lol I was completely mind blown. I also remember my first bible I ordered that wasn't kjv. I actually started out with an nirv and moved up to nlt. After I discovered other translations that's where my bible addiction started😂5 years later I have lots of different translations and lots of different study bibles and a few Journaling bibles, a few devotionals, I have a bible guide book I use regularly and I am the closest I've ever been to Jesus❤my husband believes kjv only but doesn't fuss about me reading other translations. I'm thankful for that. He told me a long time ago he didn't believe nothing but kjv and when I discovered "an easy to read translation) is what I called it lol I read it on my phone for a while because I was afraid of how he would feel of me owning a bible that wasn't kjv. I finally did get one, I remember he didn't really say anything about it. I remember telling him I'd learned so much and I'd constantly update him how far i had gotten into the bible😂I'm gonna gues he saw how much it helped me and how much I had grown from it. Now, 5 years later I still read nlt but I am reading the kjv more than I ever have. Now I don't claim to understand all of it there's still a chunk of scripture that just baffles me in kjv lol but I do understand more of it now than when I first started. So thankful to have access to "easy to read versions" lol

Thank you Cat. I will be sharing this video with the ladies in my weekly study. This is awesome and I love how your channel is helping so many to explore this as an option to getting into His word and listening to the Holy Spirit as He teaches us His truth. I grew up with no bible, no church nothing. When I finally got my first real bible it was NIV. I did not care for it and one day I was gifted a KJV. I LOVED it! I loved how the language was written. I still love it and read it regularly. I do use NKJV, ESV or others, occasionally when I get stuck on something or want to explore more in another version.

It’s nice to know that Im not the only person that has cut everything I used to do out of my life and only enjoy staying home and reading my Bible, journaling and studying other books like The Book of Jasher or the book of Enoch and get insight into more details of that time in history! Love my Humble Lamb bibles too! I just wrote Daniel at Humble Lamb explaining to him I just cannot understand the KJV and please make the NJKV in ethereal pink (my favourite color)! 😜 Love your videos!

I was raised on KJV and my first Bible was a KJV. I don't have the troubles some people have, but sometimes I like to study NKJV with the KJV or study the culture in which the Bible was written. Understanding the culture helps why the commands of God and rules of the people were there. I love my Battlefield of the mind Bible with the Amplified, which some do not appreciate that version, but when going through strife and problems the emphasis on certain words and phrases really helps me. ❤🧡💛💜

Thank you so much sis! I love this video so much, and especially since I remember watching you go through, and myself go through our spiritual journey together, as well as with other sisters. It’s amazing how much we’ve all learned and will keep on learning for the rest of our lives. You’ll go through different seasons. Our journey is unique to us, and who’dever thought that either one of us would be reading the NASB when we first started?! ❤ 😅 I think it’s really good advice that you’ve given sis, that new Christians don’t start out into more complicated translations like the KJV etc. Start out withwith a translation that you understand, that’s the first step. If you persist, if you love God’s Word, you will understand it. Harder translations like the KJV Will become like beautiful divine poetry and now I really enjoy it. Ask the holy spirit to give you guidance, wisdom, knowledge, and to expand and transform your reading. Before you know it, through reading God’s Word, watching other people like our sister Cat and her journey, you will absolutely only want to be in the word of God every single day. In every spare moment you have. But it takes time to get to this point. Like any relationship, you need to start with the formalities, and then move into a beautiful, loving, tender and intimate relationship with God.

I wrote on Cat's FB page earlier today about my marking in my first ever truly premium Bible I recently received last Friday. My green goatskin Cambridge KJV Topaz Reference Bible. I absolutely love this Bible and can not put it down! I absolutely love everything about it! I have several CBP bibles, including a Turquoise edition that I love and was very resistant to the new text style and layout of the Topaz. I can honestly say that it is an improvement in every way! Imo, of course. The thing is, just like Cat says, whatever gets you excited about the Bible is the one for you! I'm not KJV only BTW. I just prefer it. Next premium Bible will probably be NKJV or NASB.

This is amazing to hear my brother thank you so much for sharing your Bible study testimony with us too. I should probably clarify better now that I'm more versed with the Bible and I understand way better then I did as a young Christian. I too love the KJV translation there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I only because if your struggling to understand it change to a different translation read it all the way through one time at least... if not read it until you understand how to read from the Bible. The Bible is not the same as any old book and so many people get stuck thinking it is. I was one of them.🙋‍♀️ I have what I like to say graduated to the KJV translation and I've read it cover to cover several different times. And I absolutely love it now. Because I now understand more of the Bible. But these videos/vlogs are for people who are just starting out on their Bible study journey so I was only trying to help them understand they're not alone and I've experience the same struggles as they're facing with right now. But I believe I will need to make a follow up video for those of you who are a bit pass that now and to share my thoughts experiences now too.

@@catwoods5499 yeah the king James can take some real work at times! I stayed away from it for years but came back to it about 3 years ago. There's actually a whole story to how that happened BTW. I'm mostly a NKJV guy but also like the NASB and the ESV. I wanted this Cambridge Topaz to be my "go to" forever Bible and didn't plan on ever spending that kind of money on another premium Bible for a good long while. But after seeing it and holding it and just being so absolutely thrilled with the premium Bible experience! Well, I gotta have more! One's not enough! A blue goatskin NKJV is what I'm thinking! But the color is always negotiable. I just have to wait a little while, because at $200+ per Bible? Well, I ain't rich.

I learned that every word is by revelation, unless He reveals it to me I'll never understand the true meaning, just like Peter. cat i have watched ALOT of reviews of bibles incdg yours... the first "bible " i was introduced to was the catholic.. which i couldnt relate to and literally HATED anything to do with it . yes i went to a cathloic private school and we.. as a class... walked to church once a wk.. anyways , once i found out who they were... i closed the door . and got to be friends with a baptist family from south carolina that... move to maine. and got to know some of there religion.. i tried it.. umm nope...BUT i learned ALOT..about the histories of religions. so im basically on my own journey .i dont have a "religion/ church" but take what i need and leave the rest. my question to you is... when you found your bible at walmart.. how did your parents react when you decided to move away from the KJV? i THINK ITS AWESOME that you have learned soo much!!!! and expanded your wings to try out differnet bibles.. but.. arent you sightly concerned... about the translations being changed from the "true" meaning of the KJV? IM NOT JUDGING YOU!!!! im just wondering.. like i said take what you need, leave the rest. i had a protestant guy literally try and guilt me into going to his church and would show up at my house trying to preach / guilt me about GOD/CHURCH /RELIGION/ DAMNATION ETC.. yeah NOT HAPPENING!!!!!! but,,i was challenged.. to actually read the whole bible.. i did. it took me 1 yr to do cover to cover... I DO HAVE A BRAND NEW "REAL" BIBLE that kjv.. not used. zippered .i got the end of last month from the christian books. so its really my first.. personal.. kjv bible . i dont know enough . which is why i watch you...and others on u tube about the bible/religions . learning/expanding is A LIFE TIME OF GROWING!! thank you for all that you do;];];]

There will always be certain books/ verses of the Bible that do not speak to us at certain times or that bore us that’s normal however we should still strive to gain understanding of these books and verses the Bible. The Bible is not about US it is for US keep praying and ask God for the wisdom to lead you through those books it’s not uncommon for people to eventually find themselves gain much from books that at one time were once didnt hold our attention or make us feel a certain way it’s normal so continue to read pray and live out scripture seek God in everything ❤❤❤❤

Yes, you can learn from the NLT. You read a Bible that you can understand, and you will branch out into more complex translations like the KJV, NASB etc. what is the point of you reading a complex translation and not understanding what it’s about? You are going to lose interest, and also never learn the nuances of the different translations, and why people prefer one over the other. Start from the very beginning and choose a translation you feel comfortable with, as you can see in Cat’s journey.

@catwoods5499 That's amazing! Do you read a certain number of chapters a day or do you follow any type of "schedule"?

@ginjaninja5419 no I just start at Genesis and move on through the book of the Bible. I can't use reading plans I get too disappointed with myself if I fall behind. So I have learned reading as much as I can and pushing myself every time to read one more chapter when I feel like it's enough. Which is typically anywhere from 10-15 chapters a day sometimes more or less. However there is one amazing reading plan I have it saved in my groups for anyone who wants to try it. Called Shred 30day reading plan it's absolutely my favorite reading plan ever. I highly recommend everyone trying it out at least one time. I have several videos talking about on my channel too. Anyways like I said in the video several times. If you truly enjoy & get excited about your Bible you want to stay in it. Just like you are addicted to your phone that's exactly how I am about my Bible that I am calling my Daily Driver/or my Cuddle Bible because I literally Cuddle with it ✍📖💕
