My English is also very good, I learned most of it by gaming and watching KZbin videos, schools don't teach you how to speak English, they teach you almost nothing at school, you'll have to take it a step forward and learn English in your own free time.

This is very true, while my education also helps but when the pandemic starts I accidentally become obsessed in reading a lot of fictional books. Through this, I'm able to read a lot of complicated words which made me become more proficient in English. Didn't realize it until later lol

True... our brain learn through input... which is reading and listening.... once enough sentences accumulate in our brain with massive exposure to English, we start naturally write and speak....

In fact having a boyfriend or girlfriend's native speaker of language you know it's not a kid in it's really useful it gives you a lot of motivation and you always have someone to ask if you have doubts about the language you learn.

In my opinion, reaching C2 as it’s officially defined by the CEFR isn’t possible for a non-native speaker of any language. Trying to “master” a language in the strictest sense, especially considering how rapidly the components of a language can shift and evolve, is unrealistic. I’m a native English speaker, and I’m currently studying Russian. I wouldn’t dream of actually becoming more proficient than the majority of native Russian speakers. It’s not an achievable goal.

I mean, quite frankly, this works if you pair it with traditional education as well. Granted, of course, you already have a quite decent fundament/basis in English language and speak quite proficiently. Then consuming a lot of media can help push through and achieve a higher proficiency😁.

I think apps for learning languages are a good basis (e.g. Duolingo). With that you can get up to level A2. I can also recommend watching videos on KZbin for example to learn some grammar (from teachers, natives etc) Good luck!! :)

Spoiler: a very long answer, Cerebrum. Her tips is great for intermediate, when you feel you're about to stop translating in your read. Adding to her tips: set some time to think in the language, this will be tiring as hell, I used to do it lying down 😆 Ok, from 0 to intermediate has around 2 phases. Let's call them Grammar stage and Logical stage as the classical education. At the grammar stage you're learning the basics, lots of input, basic practices and vocabulary. Lots and lots of input, passive and active. Start making sounds, but only those you really understand and recognize. Using Mandarin as example, Zhen and Zhan can be very similar, if you can't hear the difference wait to speak it. I didn't ^-^... :/ The basics is essential. After an intensive grammar stage, let's say a minimum of 100 focused hours and lot more of passive. You can "read" to see patterns, mainly in languages that uses a different writing system. Listen to music, to ebooks with subtitles, tv shows with subtitles, get creative. Mentally repeat what you hear. You can start to write on this stage if you want and need too, but focus on input and understanding. Logical stage is when you started to make sense of the patterns and how this language works. Now you can start to speak and say some sentences, learning to sing songs, and repeat random phrases from what you watched 😂 Bet on podcasts too. Start recording yourself. Get some grammar books, funny how the grammar stage doesn't need you to get a grammar book lol. Well, now that you saw and heard a lot you'll have a better notion and background to understand the grammar, it won't be too vague. Ok. There's lots of tips. The essence is: lot of input, then lot of logic and outward practice(writing, reading, speaking, while still getting a lot of input), then lot of inward practice (thinking) and immersion. Long story short: immersion always. Google comprehensive input.

Personally I do not believe you're at a C2 level of English, yet immersion can be quite a good way to facilitate language acquisition. Just remember, exposure alone is not enough. You must use the language extensively too in order for it to actually solidify in your mind.
