Well i am reading crime and punishment in english,i am georgian so russian is my second language and english is third, ofc there is a whirlpool of contemporary and archaic words ,i try to translate it out loud and then proceed into the reading so it helps me recollect words i already know so its a little practice for myself and ofc new words which i didnt know i haven’t heard of them at all and i wrote down every single word , those words mounded up pretty much somewhere between 500 😅 on page 250 but i think i will manage somehow despite it sometimes felt overwhelming, but reading helps a lot i recommend blending modern colloquial books with which are considered old language to drastically increase your vocabulary, but fluency is a little different, when you are fluent you understand what you hear/read and also speak it so yea.. good luck to everybody on this journey

My story in a spanish spoken country: I studied in public elementary and high school; therefore, I was not billingual when I was 17. Although I got some general grammar basics. From 21 to 23, I enrolled at an English Conversational program every Saturday in an institute, I loved it. Then, I went to college but didn't practice that English. At 30 I joined again other institute, but I quit because I got bored studying again the same grammar. At age 31 I entered another institute some months and the major told me if I wanted to teach, I accepted but only for 8 months just on Satuday mornings. Some years later, at age 37, as a professional, I decided to go to college and to enrolle in English Teaching Major (this was the only way to become really billingual) and graduated this year. It was a long journey in my case, but I am satisfied now that I know I'm B2+. Best.

Now I'm intensively learning English by immersion. My first language is Armenian, second is Russian, and the third is English ( forth is becoming Spanish 😂). After many tries with traditional learning technics, I've decided to learn by immersion ( like I've learned Russian passively), and use traditional methods just as additional tools to accelerate my learning process. For example, I just created new youtube account with only English/Spanish content ( I don't use my Russian-Armenian channel anymore ), I read books, listen podcasts, use flash cards, watch movies, etc... In the very start time it will be hard, but with each practice it will become easier and easier. Even this text... Its not grammatically correct, I haven't rich vocabulary yet, but compared with my English level 3 month ago, its huge improvement, I can't explain you how huge is my progress )) I even started to learn Spanish as an another way to use English 😂 Also my Spanish level motivates me sometimes, because compared to Spanish I'm god on English 😂 Lifehack: Are you struggling with your third language ? Start learning forth one 🤟 Motivation is a temporary and not stable thing. On other hand with consistency, patience and sometimes with little bit willpower you will succeed.

I have been learning English for more than 2 years as a Russian native speaker. I’ve achieved a sort of B2. I am able to watch an average KZbin video without subtitles, read technical and scientific books in English, and speak with some mistakes and pauses. Also I am learning Romanian. Thanks you for sharing your experience. From my point of view, the main thing that can help to learn a language is to dive into that language through reading, listening, watching videos or films. You need to surround yourself with the content in a foreign language. Of course, the content should be at the suitable level. It shouldn’t be too difficult to you. And you need to spend 15-20 hours a week on learning a language and take at least a couple of lessons from a teacher. I am sure this approach will lead to success.
