This is what needs to be shared to begin to understand what it takes! Thank You. The proof; The first time I heard you play it brought tears to my eyes because I was not prepared to hear art & passion conveyed so viscerally

Thank you for sharing all of your wisdom and insights. You could have chosen to keep it all to yourself--your secret--but you are so generous. I heard your master class at the ISMTA conference yesterday, and it blew my mind. I am a super fan.

I find an odd awkwardness in his playing. Obviously, he ignored the teachings of his teachers. The music is clearly unbalanced and lacks beauty that is inherent in the music. This was his choice to play so oddly and bizarrely! Listen for yourself and come to your own honest conclusion.

You should listen to his real recordings of his Etudes on KZbin- he has some of the best renditions of Chopin's Etudes I have ever heard, absolutely sublime in every way. Maybe he just wasn't feeling it the day he did the talk, but at peak condition he is an absolutely amazing pianist.

AeroHydra Agree 100%, also his Dante Sonata is absolutely sublime! He plays with such colors and virtuosity that is near unmatched for that piece.

He is an individualist (consider what he said about individualism) but because of his strong knowledge about the music. Listen carefully what he does in the third etude.

.... he is totally delusional, he needs to go back to practice the 6 hours he did before.... the etude Op 10 #4 sounds like a mediocre students getting through at a lesson. No hard feelings at all, but he is fooling himself....

Cubanbearnyc that was on a bad keyboard on his first take, listen to his recording on Ashish Xiangyi Kumar of Op.10 and Op.25. They are some of the best recording, also his Dante Sonata and his Beethoven symphony transcriptions are great as well.
