I have been doing them like this for a long time. When I teach someone and they ask me why I explain muscle recruitment and that since the medial head is off-center standing straight up will involve the front delt about 30%-40% but when you hinge forward about 15°-20°, the medial head will now be parallel to the floor and get the maximum stimulation.

For people who prefer to be specific with their muscle-building training, things like this can make a big difference if you apply it to all muscle groups and/or exercises. Do you think the average lifter with not particularly favourable genetics but want to maximise their progress should just lift how they feel and see what happens? What about someone who competes in bodybuilding hoping to make it a career, should they just lift weights and hope they're doing it the best way?
