How about wire it to a switched power source so it is off until you turn the key on.

the fuse you picked, if this one that already has something attached to it? Like if you used a 20amp fuse and thee cigarette lighter is a 20 amp fuse, you can just tap it into that one? Or how did you pick fuse location?
