loved hearing you talk about diet- because i feel like thats my main issue too. Hearing that other people are in the same boat as me makes me feel so much better and really makes me want to work harder. Thank you!!

I've noticed that when I lift, I need days to recover. It took 2 years after my diagnosis to really notice that any muscle soreness causes me to be exhausted easily. I love the gym too.

With more advanced hashi, working out hard in the gym can flair the symptoms and put you in a full blown hashi flair. This vid shows someone who is new to hashi
@SugarDugs4 жыл бұрын
@@rkymtngal you're right. I am relatively newly diagnosed. But I do know everybody is different! For now, my current routine helps ease my aches and hashi's pain. It is not causing me flare ups. It is doing the opposite. But I have heard that the sort of workout routine I have doesn't work as well for others and they find workout routines such as simply walking or yoga to be more beneficial. That's my point of the video! Everyone is different! But regardless of what workout method you choose, moving is extremely helpful for issues like Hashimotos, even when your body hurts and all you want to do is sit.
@SugarDugs4 жыл бұрын
Amy, I'm sorry you're losing some of your ability to lift due to the easy exhaustion. It's so hard. Listen to your body but don't give up! Your body might be telling you that you need to find a different workout method but I know that Hashi's and other autoimmune issues like it are made better with some sort of exercise or movement involved! I hope you can find something that works for you.

For 2 years while we were finding my correct dose were hell, I could barely work. I would get up and ready for work and need a nap. I would make dinner and need a nap. I would clean and need a nap. Now I am on my correct dose and have had good numbers since February. I am lucky I am Slowly losing the weight....very SLOWLY. I have lost 50 lbs in 2 years and I have 50lbs more to go. My thin hair is starting to grow back normal but it is all so slow. My skin is becoming normal again. There is hope. It is slow and takes work...a lot of work. No more naps tho! :)

Without medicine I would have killed myself . I started with hyperthyroid/graves and then I became hypothyroid . Now getting in the middle . Patience is important and medicine is crucial .

I too have hypothyroidism and found it impossible to lose weight. I luckily for the first time in a year, have managed to lose 7 pounds and I'm still aiming for at least 8 more pounds. I recently had a decrease in appetite due to the increasing warmer weather, and ding ding ding, that was the ticket. My appetite is coming back, but I was always a binge eater. It's taking extreme will power, but I'm eating healthy, and having enough calories, and working out. I'm just down to 2 meals a day, instead of 3 and it's working. Taking my thyroid medication has never actually helped me drop weight.

Congrats on the weight loss success! And thanks for your insight. Like I said, everybody is different. What works for me might not work for you! I'm just here to offer what worked for me! I will be talking more about intermittent fasting in my next video. That has helped me drop weight and/or maintain weight loss (similar to your concept of skipping a meal).

Do you experience the extreme fatigue & tiredness? I just turned 60, and was just diagnosed with Hashimoto's and prescribed levothyroxine. Despite working in medical offices most of my career, I had never heard of it! I knew that something was wrong for many years, but the doctors just said I was depressed, and prescribed anti-depressants. When I said I can't get up & going for work, and it's difficult to function, the doctor would say to take a shower & have some coffee. Then, about 8 or 9 months ago, my body really crashed. I suddenly gained 15 lbs, and I felt SO sick! I couldn't go to work. I couldn't fit into my clothes anymore. I thought it was from menopause! I've always exercised a few days per week, and kept in decent shape, but now I have a part-time job (4 hours a day), and it's a struggle to stay awake after work. I know that proper nutrition is the most important, but because I'm so tired in the morning, I don't have time to eat a good meal before going to work, and after work, I'm too tired to cook. I zonk out on the sofa! I have cut out gluten & most dairy from my diet, but I still feel like crap, so it must be something else...?

Patricia P agree!! Your story is familiar for so many with thyroid problems. Oddly caffeine is not good for thyroids. Check out the website stopthethyroidmadness.com

Cut out peanuts and other inflammatory foods too. Check out the AIP diet and follow it... It's tough but it does work.

Patricia P best thing you can do is keto for your thyroid. I have hashimotos and it’s life saving. Clear headed and more energy. Also, try to get off depression meds it has fluoride that kills your thyroid more. Read Isabella Wents hashimotos protocol. Life saving. Good luck

A combination of Carnivore keto and AIP is working for me as long as I stay consistent with it.

Unfortunately meds don’t always work and eventually you have to keep upping the dose. It also does not reverse the weight gain for a lot of people. Glad it is working for you be mindful that it does not work for a lot of people. I have been on meds for 15 years. I can take my meds, workout and eat perfect and can’t lose weight and now recently I am gaining weight again. No change in what I’m doing.

Maybe you need to switch to desiccated thyroid meds. Where you are getting a greater spectrum. T2 is what influences metabolic processes the most. You might be one of the people who would benefit from this. Dr Alan Christionson has quite a bit on this.

Ok so this is my story if anyone cares. I was in fourth grade and I had trouble breathing so I went to the hospital they drew blood a couple weeks later I got results that I had hashimotos. It all made since why I was so over weight
@jamieleverton77514 жыл бұрын
But I’m currently in 7th grade and I have worked really hard to keep my body on track but it has been a struggle. BIG TIP GREEK YOGURT as a snack it’s really good for hashimotos. If you can get one made out of coconut or almond milk because dairy isn’t good for your hashimotos. This is my story please no hate❤️👍

I've been struggling recently with Thryoid issues - my doctor said it was borderline but I have so many symptoms and it's making me miserable. I'm scheduling an appointment to go back and hopefully get medication - do you think it's worth it when you have to be on it for life?
@SugarDugs5 жыл бұрын
In my humble opinion, yes it is worth it. Though I will admit, I struggled (and still do struggle) with the idea of being on a pill for life. It seems intimidating and depressing. Some would argue that there are dietary changes, lifestyle changes, etc that you can do to heal your thyroid. I believe there are too! But, in the meantime, I am not taking any chances. I need to be able to be at my healthiest. Like you mentioned, it can be pretty miserable to live your life without taking some action to help or heal your sick thyroid. Keeping yourself healthy and keeping your thyroid and overall health from declining should be top priority! I think even with a healthy diet and good "numbers" on my blood tests I would still remain on the medication. Popping a pill or two every morning beats letting your thyroid (and overall health) get worse and worse!
