I too have hypothyroidism. I been struggling with this since I started puberty. I was officially diagnose with it when I was 26 years old and started levothyroxine sodium at 75 mcgs. When I started it, my weight was 250 lbs. I have lost about 30 of that so far, and I do feel a lot better then I use too. I have struggled with my weight since I was about 7 or 8 years old, even when I was in high school when I would work out everyday. I do feel better then I use to. I am so glad that there are people like you who help bring to light hypothyroidism. Thank you.

Thank you so much! I NEVER comment on videos, but this video really helped me. I'm 38 and have been really slim my entire life. I was officially diagnosed with hypothyroidism earlier this year after gaining 30lbs in three weeks. I FREAKED OUT and got depressed because nothing I tried was helping me to lose the weight. I put on an additional 12lbs since being prescribed levothyroxine, so I am glad I found your video. I am hoping that my medication will be regulated soon because it's hard to stay positive with the changing body issues.

I thought that I might have hypothyroidism after seeing your video a couple weeks ago, so I did a blood test and I found out I do. Weight loss has been an emotional rollercoaster for me because I'd lose weight on crash diets, then gain it all back and not be able to lose a single pound, even while doing intense workouts. Ever since I started taking my thryoid pills, I lost 7 pounds and I'm only getting started! Working out everyday and eating healthy food and in moderation is my new lifestyle and I can't wait to see where I go with it :) Thank you so much, you changed my life.

I was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism and it makes so much sense. For about 4 months, I was super committed to losing weight and by all of the calculations I did, I should have been losing 1.5-2lbs a week. I lost 6 pounds over the course of 4 months and that’s when I knew something wasn’t right. I was doing everything correctly and losing pretty much nothing. I’ve just started taking Levo, so hopefully taking that will make it a little bit easier to lose weight.

Thank-you so much for sharing your journey with this. I found out that I had hypothyroidism about a year ago after trying to get pregnant and not being able to. I had gained over 50 pounds in 2 years, never got my period, and was constantly tired. Even though it can be frustrating to take medication and constantly go for blood work, it gives me peace of mind that there is a reason for all of my symptoms and I don't have to live like this forever. In the past 3 months, I've stopped letting my hypothyroidism be an excuse in my life, and have changed my diet and exercise routine completely. I have already lost 40 lbs, and feel so much lighter with way more energy during the day! You are such an inspiration and proof that hypothyroidism doesn't have to take over your life!

I'm so excited to get to feeling better. I've been on a weight loss journey for the last two years and I've lost 51 pounds so far UNTIL last month. Last month without changing my diet at all I gained 10 POUNDS! I track what I eat and exercise regularly. Plus now I have elevated cholesterol and apparently, that happens often with hypothyroidism. Now I'm even more motivated to make progress and can't wait to get to feeling better.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism back in 2005 and now I have Hashimoto's, which is autoimmune hypothyroidism (most people with hypothyroidism eventually become Hashi). With much research and seeing MANY doctors, I have found that naturopathic doctors are the most knowledgeable about thyroid conditions because they know to look at your body as a whole system working together. I gave up on traditional doctors/endocrinologists years ago because they couldn't help me. You didn't mention this, but going gluten-free is VERY important for any one with thyroid issues. I also feel my best when I am working out, but I still struggle with days where I feel extremely fatigued and lethargic. Thyroid problems are quickly becoming more and more prevalent and I believe it has a lot to do with the foods we eat and lack of properly nourishing our bodies.

Totally agree it has to be a holistica approach with unfortunately most regular Dr's don't give you. Hence me having to figure it out on my own for so long. Also, avoiding processed foods (which basically all have gluten) has made a huge impact for sure. That is really key for anyone looking to feel good and healthy, but especially noticeable when you have issues like hypo or hashi.

I'm a male in my early 20s and I suspect I have hypothyroid even though my levels were "normal" I did more research and came to the conclusion that my doctors don't actually know anything about hypothyroidism. Like you point out, hypothyroidism is something that affect everything! It is under diagnosed and both men and women get it. Hypothyroidism affects our mental health too, it creates anxiety and depression as well as mood swings and irritability not to mention brain fog. I think you have awesome points, especially when you talk about t4 & t3. Sometimes people are unable to convert T4 to t3 and those people keep suffering hypothyroid symptoms. People should request a full thyroid panel test so that they can see if their bodies are converting the hormones. If they are not then having t4 and t3 medication would greatly help, it may virtually help someone feel normal! Of course even those who don't suffer from hypothyroid and have a normal thyroid must also work out and eat right so we have to learn how to eat properly and exercise not just to look good but to be healthy both mentally and physically. Medication is probably 50% responsible for feeling better and the other 50% is exercise stress reduction and diet. I hope all you lovely people get retested and live life as you were meant to be, normal and happy!

Started period at 10, had headaches, fatigue, weakness, dry skin,, etc. also had intoleration to cold, had anxiety, but never had a weight problem luckily. Recently my hair loss, that I believed was caused by me dyeing my hair, got worse and I had a lumpy feeling in my throat. Went to the doctor and was finally diagnosed. Hello and thank you for making this video! I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and as a matter a fact today is my 1st day ever to start taking my medication. I am super nervous about the meds because meds scare me in general. I had no idea I had anything wrong with me other than just being over weight and getting old. One of the most annoying that that I can say that I am dealing with is that my hair is falling out. So today after I took my first dose of medication I thought I better do some online research of my own and I am so happy I found your video!! I have been over weight most of my life but I never had any health issues until now... these past 3 years I have gained more weight, my skin is dryer, my hair falls out, I have become grouchy and always tired or what I thought was just being lazy... any way this is the start of my journey to beat this and I am subscribing to your channel. But thank your for this content u have Expressed much of the same thkngs I have been experiencing. I won't give up even when the weight gain and loss flunctuates 😭 , I hope that our condition can be studied more and more accessible to receive medical guidance not just pills we have to take for the rest of our lives but knowledge and tools to better our over all health

i was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism (yes, the total opposite of hypothyroidism) back in august 2016 and thought that meds can help me manage it but for the past few months my thyroid is not doing well and has been too active (again). so the doctor provided me two options, to either take the radioactive iodine therapy or just continue the meds but with a higher dosage. and once i will choose the first option which is the RAI, i will be diagnosed with hypothyroid. i am actually very very worried and anxious but watching your video and hearing your story inspired me and somehow made me feel better.

Thanks so much for your honesty and for raising awareness about underactive thyroid ! I suffered also and have been on synthroid .75mcg for many years and cytomel at times. My blood tests showed that I am on the low end of " normal" so several Dr's ignored my symptoms- the ones you had. I suffered for years! My mother and one of my daughters also have it. When I was 19 yrs old, I finally found a naturopath/ wholistic MD who believed me ! It is very important for the blood test to include TSH, t3, reverse t3, and t4 and to have a Dr. who knows how to interpret the blood test results. After being on the meds for 35 years,I tried going off the Rx for a year and used natural hormone supplements - BAD idea! I really messed up my system and realized there's no shame in being on the prescription and my body needs it- every morning! Katie, you are so right, proper nutrition and exercise is key! I LOVE your kind , energetic motivation and your workouts are awesome! Keep up the good work 💕

I have been struggling with Hypothyroidism for 16 years, I was not diagnosed for over a year and 60 lbs later. Even though I told my doctor that something was not right, she belittled me. "You have a new baby and two other young kids, of course your tired". It took more than a year to get her to test my thyroid. Once I was diagnosed, she put me on medication, I fired her. I should have done that before. I am now on my fourth doctor. Even though I feel awful, she doctor tells me..."your numbers are in the normal range, your fine". UGH! I take 125 of Levo. I have also just been diagnosed with Hashimoto's and Fibromyalgia. It all sucks! I'm glad to have found your vlog, you have motivated me. I have an appt with an endo in April.

Thank you! I am a trainer here in LA; I gained weight on HYPERthyroidism and was diagnosed with Graves’ disease eight months ago. I was afraid to take methimazole. After two days, I felt like I got my life back, and intermittent fasting helped. Last month, I got the news that it was working too well, and now my thyroid is not producing any hormones. The problem is, I was out of town on the East Coast, where it is cold, and I couldn’t get to a Veterans Affairs hospital for Levexothyroxone. I had my first flare-up ever. After I got the new meds, it was working “too well” also. I was recently told to stop abruptly and am having withdrawals until my new labs. I just found out, for those reading this, cold weather severely affects your thyroid, and doctors will increase meds around the fall. Hopefully, I can give an update soon. God Bless! 🙏🏼 @fit.with.ryan

I was diagnosed about 6/7 years ago when I was in 4th grade. I wanted fast results, so I started working out everyday. Nothing was happening, I started eating less and in turn my blood sugar dropped. Hypothyroidism is one of the worst things to possibly ever happen to anyone. I have to take a small pill for the rest of my life.. and I’m serious when I say that if you eat 30 minutes before or after you take the dang thing you’re body goes *oh so we’re gonna be like THIS then* and it really jacks up your thyroid. I know my results won’t be fast.. Just wanted to share that I’m glad I’m not the only one going through this 😓💕

I was glad because I knew why some things were not right but also I was very depressed just to know I was going to take a pill every day for the rest of my life and to know I was going to go through hell with the blood exams, doctor appointments...until I found your blog...I know I have a huge fight ahead but I know I can get there cause you did...so in other words, what I´m trying to say very clumsy is thank you!

Wow, I am so glad you were able to figure out what was going on. You are so strong and I am so glad that the blog could make you feel like you aren't alone. That is also why I started team LSF on Instagram so that people could come together that relate to one another and share their stories. I hope you continue to get clarity in your journey! :)

I was diagnosed in March 2016 with Hashimoto's disease. it has been A struggle for me because I have been living the fitness lifestyle for 14 years, and had put so much energy into being healthy, taking meds everyday has been A mental struggle for me, I have spent the last year feeling sorry for myself, and hating my body for failing me. I have been able to keep my weight in check after medication and watching my diet closely but I feel very alone in my struggle and I thank you so much for sharing your story.

You are amazing😘 I was diagnosed at 14 and since then I have been taking Eltroxin...now I am 35...and diet can truly help in so many ways! Btw...I heard that tap water caused many youngsters this “old“ illness due to insertion of fluoride to it. That`s why I only drink mineral water for years now. Keep up the amazing work, love your channel:)

Thank you so much for this. I was diagnosed two weeks ago and it explains so much. I’ve been dieting for years and just been able to maintain my weight. Whatever I’d gain would stay on, and the other symptoms can be so embarrassing. I can’t wait to get a dosage that works for me and even just cutting out so many things in my diet and adding light exercise is making me start to feel my new normal.

What sucks is that I'm the only one from my family to have it, so sometimes when I say that I'm having a problem here and there or a pain, they don't believe me anymore and they think I'm imagining stuff.

Around the middle of the video when you said some might wish they had hyperthyroidism, I actually have hypothyroidism and I would definitely take that over hyperthyroidism because I have imsomnia and I can't imagine it being worse than it is and always being overactive! I mean, hypothyroidism really sucks, but it's easier to deal with!

I think people as a whole suffering from any thyroid disease should keep in mind this is still a disease that affects each person uniquely. Depending on your hormone levels, current treatment and other contributing factors results of simply diet and exercise will be vastly different. I say that because I don’t want anyone to get discouraged if the same results do not happen for them. I am struggling to lose weight myself and I eat healthy and workout...always have since finding out I have Hashimoto’s. I actually was smaller when I ate unhealthy years ago lol and have friends that eat unhealthy with hyperthyroidism and yet they can’t GAIN and effortlessly lose weight. Hormones play a huge role and each person is different so research and taking personal charge of your health is completely necessary! Some of us don’t use our disease as a crutch, I don’t. I wish that were the case and that simple, I’d be where I want to right now.

I just learned that my TSH level is too high, but I don't get to see my doctor for a few weeks. I've been so tired and had the worst brain fog for a while now which is why my doctor decided to do a blood test. I just can't wait to see my doctor so I can get this figured out because it's seriously effecting my course work for college!!

For about a year and a half my hair was slowly thinning and I couldn't figure out why. I almost started wearing a wig. My suspicion was that it was triggered by going on birth control, then stopping it 6 months later. Finally I got bloodwork done and found out I was hypo. Got put on 25mcg and did bloodwork again in 3 months, tested normal. During the fourth month my hair started falling out like crazy again, and ever since then I've been slowly increasing my dosage (currently 88mcg after 1 year of starting levothyroxine). The biggest change has been I have significantly less brain fog, more focus, occasionally bigger appetite, little baby hairs have been growing, and more energy (still constantly tired). Some of the symptoms that aren't resolved: my hair still falls out a lot (usually worsens when i need an increased dosage), i'm ALWAYS freezing, and my energy levels still not back to normal. Keep in mind I workout 5x a week, and eat a 90% healthy diet. Also I limit my dairy intake but I don't think that's done anything to improve my thyroid function, just lessens bloating/ inflammation. Anyways, wanted to share my story to see if anyone is experiencing something similar! I loved reading everyone else's comments.

Same. I was diagnosed 6 months ago. I was only able to lose like 13 pounds this year. I didn’t understand why all of a sudden I gained 40 pounds. I’m still trying to lose the 27 pounds I have yet to lose to go back to my normal weight/: . We got this. I know we’ll make it!

Thank you for making this. Im 22 and was just diagnosed this week with hypothyroidism. It came as a complete shock. I was getting blood work done for something else and my thyroid was one of the lab tests. The doctor, who is a obgyn, immediately put me on levothyroxine the day they got my lab results back. Until this week I had no idea what a thyroid was or what it did...

Thank you for this. When I was 24 I was diagnosed with graves which cause hyperthyroidism - horrible I was eating upwards of 5000 cals a day and lost 30 lbs in 2 months but I also lost my hair and never slept and it tears apart your muscles. After a year of meds- remission :) now 14 years later I just got diagnosed with hypo/ Hashimotos and just started Levo as I have become fluffy :) my endo said one good thing when he diagnosed me a few days ago- don’t allow the names of the diseases or anything to give it control over you which really helped me to start this new and fun journey :) this video was very helpful thank you!!!! 😊💞

I got diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2021 when I was 15. It started with me fainting in class and always being light headed. so mum took me to the doctor who then told me what was wrong with me. I have always strugged with losin weight so it doesnt help that I now have a condition that makes it harder to lose weight. But since iv had it I havent gained more weight, Iv actually stuck at a weight that is good for me, I go for walks up hill and maintain what I eat. I never actully knew that there were foods that I couldnt eat, like for example I used to eat apples alot and now I cant because according to my doctor i am alleric to them. Stupid thyroid. I admire you so much you are a star. Im so glad I watched your video because it made me feel less alone.

Ok...so I feel like I can totally relate to ALL the symptoms and tomorrow I’m supposed to be getting my blood test results to know what I have, and I’m kind of nervous because I really feel like I have Hypothyroidism...but atleast I know that I won’t have to go through it alone, since my mom has hypothyroidism.

I stopped dairy and dropped 30 lbs. I was an avid dancer but no longer can do it as much since having my daughters so I really started feeling it after the pregnancies/cutting out dancing. I reapplied exercise every other day slowly but now my hair is falling out as badly as it did during my pregnancies. I am now attempting to cut out sugar and processed food/gluten.
