The issue is the players... after several games and 50+ team kills, in that last round, everyone knew that they had to group jump on xar and pika because they were unplayable.

@@Lord_of_Bones That is a false statement, the only BR game that has "similar" rules is Apex and the way it works there is that teams have to get a certain amount of points to be eligible to win. If you apply this to the Plunderstorm tournament it would have been any team above 100 points can win the tournament, which would mean Xar and Pika would have been eligible way earlier (gamer 3 or 4) and Kenny and all the other less consistent teams would have not been eligible so early.

The stupid thing is that they first play 6 games with points - and then an "all-important last match", where only the ranking counts for everything. why do you play x games beforehand? and with points too? whoever came up with this was stupid. really stupid. there's absolutely no excuse. incompetent staff. but it fits perfectly with the current situation at blizzard. i mean plunderstorm is really nice, finally pvp content again and i like watching it. especially pikaboo.

Points mattered the last 2 final games. Only the top 3 on points could win the tourney in the first final match and top 10 the second since no one won from the top 3. Xaryu and Pika just fumbled in the final.

Great mechanical skill but in the end xar was going to be the reason the won or pika was going to be the reason they lost and it was the latter

The difference in Apex and what makes it better in my opinion is that for someone to win they have to have X amount of points Its not based on games played. So usually during an Apex tournament there is 1 team doing really well and they get to that point total first so if they win after that they win the tournament. This makes it about points and placement. As the games go on and they dont win, more and more teams get to that point total so there is a chance for them to win. This makes the points actually worth it and a big part of the game too.

Then you get no reason to play at all until the last match and no one going for kills instead trying to camp.

The only good way I have seen this done is the way that Apex does it and sometimes it sucks too honestly. BR's are just kind of meant to be more random and dont exactly lend themselves to super competitive game play easily in my opinion. Very fun to watch though!

May as well just use this tournament format for the AWC and MDI too.. Not like blizzard care about talent or anything.. What were the other 6 rounds even for? The "smart" players were never going to win anyway.. Sure, hiding is a good strat.. but you can only hide until the final 1v1 because that's when the other player is able to search for you without having to contend with the other active players. In the end their high score meant nothing, just like Pika and Xar's. Bad format was bad.. even while trying to pad the scores of "smart" players.

@@rotran91 this is how it worked : there were 30 teams, after 5 games, if one of the top 3 teams wins the 6th games, that teams wins it all, no one of the top 3 teams won the 6th game so in the 7th game if one of the top 10 teams win, that team will win the first place, I don't agree with this format I'm just explaining how the winner was determined
