I ran into this kickbot a few times in my 2s. The first time was against 2 shamans. I got instant kick as soon as I started casting that I can't even see my cast bar. Then I told my duo that I just got outplayed by inhuman reaction. I was sketchy in the beginning. But after a few games fighting players like this I even started convincing myself that some people are just so damn good. Now I know why. Yes I'm in EU server

it's a crazy world we live in. not just in wow, but many games I'll sit there and think people are just on a different level, or im just getting too old for games, I'll feel delusional sometimes like I'm not even playing the same game as other people. I felt crazy in that game, and after about 30 minutes into my first match, cheaters legit aimbotting, walling. And About an hour into trying to play it, cheaters crashing servers, kicking players, and all the sorts. To anyone wanting to try an EA games older than 2023, don't. They drop support 2 years in and will NOT ban cheaters. I understand that macros are different, but you just gotta keep your head on a swivel in today's multiplayer games. If there's an exploit, everyone that knows about it will use it in order to get some gamer recognition, or to ruin others' experience.

This has been going on since WotLK and probably earlier. I remember in season 7, around 2300 rating, we kept getting this same team and we would beat them 9/10 games. Came back next week, started getting them again and all of a sudden they were kicking perfectly, avoiding grounding perfectly--just an uncanny change in their playstyle from the previous weeks and it became much harder to beat them.

That kickbot macro used to be in the form of an addon back in MoP. There was a gladiator shaman on Emerald Dream back then who was notorious for that and ddosing people :) Sure would be nice if a small indie game dev company like Blizzard could fix it after 10 years.

If you're a boomkin, you can cast flap and it will set off their kick bot or script. I did it in BFA and SL all the time. It also was pretty fun to bait kicks with. Some players actually just kick instantly. I also remember it being fun to bait CC before you convoke in SL. Since it's uninterruptible, it's like a conc aura convoke was going off.

first i heard about this was in BFA because an entire guild used AHK profiles for mythic raids. if you got accepted as a raider you were forced to download/setup/use the AHK profiles. we reported them and got a GM reply that this doesnt exist

Not only does it destroy competive integrity but it also falsifies class balance. People are artificially stronger because of it. If you remove Macros and addons from the game, everything would be 100x easier to balance and skill would become a far more utilised trait in a player.

They need to change design rather than change the numbers to balance things out for 1 season, then have to change the numbers again.

I thought conditional macros didn't even work. This is hilarous. Even more knowing now that high rated players have been doing this. And yet, here I am giving casters precog like a baboon I'm a macro fanatic, I've made some CRAZY macros here and there since MoP, especially during Legion. I made a macro for survival hunter that was unreal when they changed during Legion. But this is pure cheating.

I genuinely love this game. I have been playing since 2007 when I was literally 7 years old. This game will always be home to me, but it is getting to the point now with the game that it is extremely annoying to play the game now. Between these extremely complex macros and scripting within the game to stuff like Raider IO that hard gate keeps people from even finding groups and AddOns that literally just play the game for you, it makes me genuinely miss the old days of WoW where the "complex" macros were casting something on a focus target without actually targeting them or sub rogue cast sequence macros that broke 90% of the time because someone would trinket.

I learned about auto hot key from a guildee in BURNING CRUSADE 15+ years ago....He was using it to create "hold a key down and it spams" to have 0% downtime in-between spell casts. But as you can see, you can do much much more with it. This type of shit has been in the game forever. It's impossible to track via inputs alone because you can do something like randomize the inputs with human type reaction speed. The game needs an invasive anti cheat to stop it to just ban anyone running AHK. That's really the only way I believe it can be stopped. I don't know about PvP, but it's been around in high level PvE forever.

Cheating is everywhere now, the FPS scene is so infected that you'll have cheaters in EVERY game you play. It's not aimbot/wall hack only, but the far less obvious like recoil reduction and movement "tech". In WoW there's bots/scripts/"macros" to give you a HUGE advantage, and it's been there since the early days, back in WotLK you could even remove the Global Cooldown or reduce it, if you reduced it by 0.5 sec it wouldn't be caught.

Blizzard's macro system isnt cheating. It's build into the game and blizzard has said time and time again. Macros are there to augment your spells, many different macros for many different situations. this is only a PvPers problem. PvP is wow has been stale and poorly done since day 1 release of Arenas. You guys want balance without any of the identity. Might as well delete all the spells and give every the same 10 spells that do the same damage, the same speed, the same mana/rage/energy consumption there for it's completely even right? You do know blizzard WANTS that inbalance right? That rogue? Yes, that rogue SHOULD eat through spell casters. That blood DK? Yes, he should be eating through your tank. This seriously seem like a bunch of PvPers whining about something they didnt know blizzard allowed and crying they could have been using it too.

In Season 1 of Dragonflight, half of the ele shamans you saw in Solo Shuffle were using rotation and kick bots lol. Cheats make millions of dollars which also feed Blizzard so don't expect cheaters to ever go away.

The Auto Hot-key stuff has been around for as long as the game has. I first learned about this while Flag carrying Twink-BGs.... Where ppl used Razer Synapse or similar 3rd party programs to nail the wall-jumps instead of learning them. There are limits to how harmful it can be in a low-level-capped bracket, and I thought the worst case scenario was that it happened in RBGs. I had no idea ppl were abusing this in Arenas. Fixing this shit is imminent asf.

The funny thing is, in the earlier days of WoW, if you weren't close enough and still clicked the kick, the kick would go through and have CD. Today that's no longer the case: today you can theoretically incorporate the silence and the melee kick into one and the same macro. Only when you get into range with the kick does it trigger CD. Otherwise you can push through your silence on range as SV. Of course it's stupid to do something like that, but it shows that there are other "programs" from Blizzard to support you. It's PvP intended for Nobrainers.

Things like this come up all the time, in PvE mythic raid as well. Max has talked about how whenever they see soemtheing wrong and ask the devs if they can use a "clever use of game mechanics", then they get told not to use it even when other guilds that dont talk to devs do use it. So they stop addressing bugs/features they find because its never a problem until it gets fixed or is announced it will get fixxed. Exploit early and exploit often

Once you go past 1800, suddenly you start seeing such stuff all over the place, it's sad that people a ruining the game, every year it becomes harder to get past 2400 this year especially, the worst part is that there isn't even an incentive to do it anymore, it's not like they are getting anything for pushing over 2300. They should just remove all the addons and macros in pvp and you will see how 80% of the people would drop with least 700 points down in a week.

I stopped PvPing shortly after Solo Shuffle became a thing because the cheating was so prevalent. It's weird to see it front and center now because when I would call it out I would get the typical "They're not cheating. You're just bad." response. Aside from the very obvious cheats, like running 3x as fast as everyone else all the time, it becomes easy to see the difference between organic play and programs.

I think I ran past a bot spriest that was fishing in sod. I managed to not die from the dots. I stopped to herb, and I had my camera in a way where I can see if they were still chasing, and they threw a iron bomb, I was able to move quick enough to dodge it, and I sprinted away past a bear that was quite far away, and they summoned their pet to get me out of stealth. I didn't aggro the bear in a way it would stop. Either the person has 200 IQ or it's a hacking bot.

I agree with cast sequence macros for an entire rotation is not good design, but I feel like the functionality (at least used to) has its place. Things like a classic character having double gathering professions. you can have both of your tracking spells on one button is a great use for it,. or if you have 2 party buffs like thorns + mark of the wild

I have one that does ravage if in cat form + stealth, else shred if not stealthed, casts starfire if not in form, and Maul if in bear. That one macro saves 4 key slots, and can be made even better with modifier keys also.

Macros used to be incredibly powerful, I had one that was nearly flawless and worked on conditions, was a bitch to set up but it essentially gave me a 1 button dps macro. It tended to fail in pvp though because the target changes. Most of the old complex ones don't function anymore though iirc.

For me, a Cuban player with an average 200ms, I cannot even kick at 80% of a cast because of the delay. The same happens with faking casts. But kick botting should be banned tbh.

As a healer sometimes you get into rounds of SS and you think to yourself "how the fuck am I suppose to heal that?" This explains everything. Wouldn't say its every Q, but it happens enough to wonder why this kid or that is at 2k rating like me. No wonder the game gets immensely harder when you cross that 2k threshold. This is like one of those time in Formula 1 where a team finds an work around. TECHNICALLY this is not cheating. BLlzz let's you make macros, and you have the game code availible to you. That being said, in Formula 1 they will still penalize the teams that exploit these workarounds if the feel it "wasn't in the spirit of the rule or competition". So using that logic people who do this should still be punnished. This should be bannable, but will it cost us ALL macros? That doesn't feel good either.

Kickbots have been used aaaaages now. I am surprised that they didnt even mention the huge macro that was something like "fakelagging" (or lagmacro) that was literally screwing melee players, always giving them the message "too far away" or "you must be behind your target" in case of backstabs. It's not a kickbot, you act like it auto-activates itself. It STILL requires human input. where's the bot part? Blizzard has stated that castsquences, and macro augments are NOT cheating.

If the game and technology allow you to do so it's not cheating as it is merely doing what you are already capable of doing, now if you were to have a program that exceeds your capabilities that would be cheating such as firing off every single attack you have simultaneously that is something that it's not possible for you to do and that would be cheating. People get too hung up on the use of technology now that it is rather disappointing an example would be the use of AI and certain lyrical melodies. We are getting to a point slowly but surely where certain copyrights will hinder progress and we are already seeing that in music as there are only a certain number of musical notes that can be played which also means that there is a limited number of configurations. In essence people use technology to enhance what they are capable of doing, is it fair? probably not. Cast sequence macro at the end isn't cheating and honestly isn't viable inside PvP, because the moment you get stunned it completely ruins the rotation and has been around since original vanilla wow. Now in PvE I could see the use since there really isn't a chance of being stunned, feared, or w.e during the opener. The other issues mentioned like AHK and the Kick Macro is 1000% cheating, especially AHK since it's literally a 3rd party program hitting your buttons for you.

Cast sequence has a delay on the spells, and it fails rather often too. If any of the spells in that squence is on CD or unable to be used... guess what? You cant use it. However, the kick macro is not cheating. If you're pissed at the kicking, you can do the same for dispelling, spellstealing and all these other ones. How about clicking one button and your rain of arrows falls on your target instead of your being forced to click the spot like blizzard intended? You need to look at it as a whole, every single spell as conditions a macro can augment with. Blizzard has said time and time again, the ingame macro system IS NOT CHEATING. Every time someone bitches about this "Kickbot" (lmfao, where the bot part?) and asks blizzard about it, every time they have been told it's apart of the macro system and it's working as intended. I even reported this before, years and years and years ago. Guess what i was told by 5 different employees? "It's working as intended."

Thing is, the base game is shit without addons. Now it is less of a mess with added customisations, but the thing is, the game was made with adddons in mind. So just suddenly removing that capability if altering your UI is just too harsh. I do agrre Weakauras and shit are too prevalent now, it's just really hard to draw the line where it is innapropriate to use it.

Dunno about addons. Now we have 279 buffs and debuffs all the time and since 95% of them are bloat and blizzard is too lazy to do anything about it, we need addons to filter the garbage and only see the important stuff. Also blizzard doesnt track a lot of usefull things like my "keefer debuff". I cannot play my spec without an addon... Macros on the other hand are unfair advantage and shouldnt be allowed in pvp. The same guy playing with focus, arena1/2/3 macros and without them is night and day difference. Try to do mage tower on RET with and without macros. You will see the difference. Personally I dont like to have 12 more keybinds to be able to sheep/kick without targeting. Am I screwed if I play mage? Also most people do not use them and are in huge unfair disadvantage as a result...

one of the best Rogues in pvp, Sensus, was making cast sequence macros back in MoP called one hit macros, so my buddy and i were using them on our sub rogues in 2s and if you time them 2-3 seconds apart you can lock your kill target in place and zero them, it was fun and nasty and of coarse didnt work all the time but was juicy when it did ;D

The macros should be patched, but the AHK is really a more complex problem. They need to design the game to not reward rection times that are faster than human's are capable of. Push it to towards tatical and controlled damage rotations rather than RNG proc fests.

I think this macro should be in game as base logic. At least for pve. It's so annoying in M+ (especially in pugs) if you both use an interrupt and both go on cool down with only one mob/spell being interrupted.

I leveled up a warrior in Pandaria and ran around in 2vs2 with a cast sequence macro spamming hamstring>mortalstrike>slams... I only had to manually put up Colossus smash. My friend was a 2400+ warrior he was too lazy to teach me how to play so he made the macro for me; So I could be a mongoloid and focus on everything important in PvP(Like training wheels?)... Hindsight having a macro that does 90% optimal PvE dps is game breaking even if you aren't mechanically the best pvper because just the pressure alone doing your rotation right is an unfair advantage. It felt dirty, but as a healer main it was a good laugh being stronk melee dps for once. >_> I eventually learnt how to manually do Arms warrior dps during the 15months of Siege of Orgrimmar.

I use castsequence macros for effects of a similar nature, but I only play PvE. Examples are WW Monk Flying Dragon Kick and Tigers Lust, I can use the same button keybing to Flying Dragon Kick and while thats on CD, it becomes Tigers Lust until the CD finishes or I use it. I also use the same on my Prot Pally for a lot of the Defensive CDs so they dont overlap. I dont think Im using it in a cheating way like a whole rotation, but what do you think?

hey pika - i am european and i did that Autohotkey stuff in WOTLK - i just noticed i could make timed macros - where it casts full rotation with one button press u also could make it u dont need to hold the button at all - since i am really against cheating - i only used it to engineer paracute by fast double tapping space - which i got to say is a very very cool one ;D

all i have to say is, if you don't like it, write the code to detect macros, it is not a easy thing to do because all you have to do is add a tiny bit of random delay to the macro and it becomes EXTREAMLY hard to detect it vs real players. you do not want to ban players for playing well vs players playing too well with macros.

As a rogue that doesnt macro and will demolish people. Ive recently learned to identify when someone is using macros/addons to cause inhuman moments. Former 2500 rating Used to sell 2s. I dont push anymore but I still work with high rating players. Same concept with disarms, silence, etc. it happens. Its CHEATING

I, foolishly, assumed Blizzard had employed game designers and would have anticipated this. I think these macros are cheating in pve too. You're not relying on your own awareness or knowledge of an encounter to play, you're listening to addons backseat you and macros check for conditions. However, I am of the opinion that a game should come feature-complete and not require addons. I haven't found Blizzard's damage metre yet, and I would like invulnerability timers for bosses so I know long long until I can attack, but those might be the only things I think are missing from the PvE experience. I like BigDebuffs and Gladius for PvP, haven't figured out OmniCC, but these should all be standard features of the game to improve clarity.

This has been going on for years, but now the bots are good enough to beat streamers/high ranking players so it matters. As they used to say, "git gud." And before I'm accused of cheating, I quit before BFA and was a 2 week into vanilla player. I've hated cheaters since the horde were wall climbing up their graveyard face with the flag just after battlegrounds release. Faction first vanilla rank 14/season 2 HotA (didn't play season 1, just had my 1st child).

Castsequence macros can be used with an addon called “GSE” so they continue even if part of it fails. With GSE people can still do 1-3 macros to govern their spec, at least for pve. It wont be as good as someone playing really well, but it can get close. Not sure how it pans out for pvp. I dont use it myself but ive thought about trying it so i can leisurely farm dungeons.

GSE has been approved by Blizzard for years. It's still one click for one cast and is not botting or cheating. It is unwieldy but serves it's purpose for people with physical disabiliites in their hands. Such as my cousin who lost 3 fingertips to a saw blade.

auto hotkey was first used in TBC classic to melee weave on hunters. AFAIK they did ban for that tho, and stopped it somehow back then. It still worked with keyboard specific programms tho.

This argument is just as dumb as saying: I should be able to cast a frost bolt at ANY character from across the map, regardless if they are in range. If they aren't in range, I dpn't cast... If they aren't casting, you don't kick. Not botting/cheating in the slightest. BUT! Should it be removed? Sure.

Casters will be able to make a macro or some sort of AHK that will not allow them to cast if an enemy is spamming or even holding their primary interrupt button, because tech can just be so crazy that I wouldn't doubt if there was some sort of counter-macro system to detect that kinda crap

Cheaters in warzone are a little different, as its an external 3P program and cheat developers are always going to be ready to counteract any new anti-cheat introduced because there is loads of money involved. the In-game macro feature that is essentially a kick-bot can 100% be fixed and removed. Now anything external like AHK is definitely more difficult.

Real gamers have known about all of these things for years. The good gaming peripherals have software that allows you to reprogram and change what the keys do. It literally gives you an advantage over everyone else that doesn't have it. Razer, Steeleseries, Logitech etc. It's not so much about the device, as it is getting access to the software that comes with it, except for an MMO mouse, the ones with the 12 side buttons, that's just a flat hardware advantage.
