I love this! I am currently studying to be a dietitian and definitely lean towards the intuitive eating/exercise approach. I love what you said about the “weight that matters” and I’m gonna pocket that for future clients. A lot of people don’t realize that our bodies (if healthy) will fight weight loss past 10% (called a set point) and they think they’re not doing enough, but you can actually only go through weight loss at most a couple times per year. And I f you lose more than a couple lbs per week you are probably losing muscle which is counterproductive. Thanks for sharing your experience! I think many people will be encouraged by it.

I LOVED hearing your insights, especially with your background of studying to be a dietician!! I didn’t know there were only a couple windows for weight loss each year, and that your body fights that 10%. That makes so much sense / super interesting!!

Hi Tiffany! Thanks for the advice. I have always struggled with my weight and I have noticed what helps me most is intermittent fasting. I have an overeating issue not so much an unhealthy food issue (except for maybe sugar) and only eating for a certain amount of time helps me control myself better. I also don’t get hungry in the morning in general so it hasn’t been that difficult.

Thank you for sharing this!! I’ve heard lots of people who swear by intermittent fasting! I’m so glad you found something that works well for your body!🙌

it changed my life, when I started realizing how every one around me was so fake, social media, and even people in my church, two of the girls I grew up with were anorexic, and where teaching other girls around them to be too, some of the other girls I grew up with were cutting themselves, but of course as a 14 year old I didn't see what was going on in their life, I just saw that they were skinny and I wasn't, so when I released myself and said I'm going to be healthy and that's all I care about, I just had peace after that, I mean and even right now I still have the thoughts, but it's not about having them it's about saying they're not true.

I love how you said “I released myself.” That’s really what it is, isn’t it? Releasing ourselves from our own expectations and pressure, and embracing our own version of healthy! Thank you for sharing this!!!

Such a great video with so much food for thought (kind of a pun, I guess) about how to THINK about food and one's body in a healthy way. Good for you! In terms of the mechanics, I think no nighttime noshing is big for me! In fact, right after dinner I brush my teeth and floss....of course I could do it again, later, if I ate again, but I only rarely do.

Hahaha love the pun!!😆 yes it really has been such a mental journey for me - about how to think about our bodies and food. I definitely grew up in a culture where body diversity was NOT celebrated or even seen on a lot of commercials. I think and hope the world / media is slowly changing in that way, which makes me really happy! Also flossing right after dinner is a great idea - I hate flossing and wouldn’t want to redo it!🤣🤣

Good video, Tiffany. You still look beautiful. As long as your husband still loves you, and still is attractive to you, that what’s matters. I hope your family and you are safe, and thank you for sharing. Take care. 😌

Thank you for the encouragement!! I always love your comments!! This one has me thinking about an Instagram post now… because I think we often have this idea that “as long as I’m attractive to my spouse, it’s okay,” but some people are married to spouses who are just selfish or not encouraging or not self aware or have unhealthy expectations… and I think we can only control ourselves, no one else - not even our spouse or their attraction to us … hmmm this is giving me lots to think about! Thank you!!❤️❤️

What a great video, thank you for talking about this openly and honestly. And how a lot of it is about feeling like yourself and comfortable in your own skin rather than a number on a scale or in the tag of jeans. Question: as you’ve grown, how do you handle people commenting on your weight and body changes? Sometimes losing weight is for unhealthy reasons as you’ve pointed out (or for reasons such as grief and depression) how do you respond to comments from friends and family?

You're doing great! I assume that in the US it's much harder to eat healthy compared to other countries. Am I right?
@TiffanyDawn

Hmmm that’s a good question! I don’t think it’s harder to eat healthy because there are tons of healthy food options. But I think maybe we tend to have a more sedentary culture/lifestyle here than in many other countries?

Do you have any advice for a woman that has a hard time separating healthy habits like better eating and exercise from old habits of anorexia/bulimia? I have a fear that if I move towards creating healthy habits that it may lead back into the obsessive habits like overexercising and undereating? I’ve had to go through years of healing and I’m so scared of going back. Also terrified that as my husband and I talk about starting a family that the weight gain of pregnancy would be super triggering for me 😥 have gained almost 20 pounds in the last 4 years from lifestyle changes and while I’m still considered small my body can feel the weight and it’s draining. Also dealing with entering the 30s and adjusting to metabolism changes. I feel like such a mess

What do you mean by not eating at night? Do you skip dinner or just don't snack after dinner?
@TiffanyDawn

Oh that’s such a great question!!! I should have clarified that. I mean not snacking in the evening after the girls go to bed. But I definitely eat a big dinner before that!!

The traditional way that a woman loses the weight she gains during pregnancy is by breast feeding the baby long enough to get rid of the excess weight.
@jasminesarah2044
@jasminesarah2044 10 ай бұрын
Not necessarily. Some women's bodies store the fat and weight and don't lose much more than the baby, placenta, and excess fluids, even with nursing on demand for two years. Some lose it all, some lose too much. Depends on genetics, age, etc.
@TiffanyDawn
@TiffanyDawn 10 ай бұрын
That’s definitely a common belief, but has actually been shown to not be as true as was once thought. For many women, breastfeeding actually makes it harder to lose weight. It all depends on the person and their situation and their unique body. For me, I breastfed 12-15 times a day for 2 years and couldn’t lose any more weight until I stopped and let my body heal and rest ❤️

@@TiffanyDawn - Glad to hear that your baby got all of that breast milk. It's so important for them in so many ways. First of all, lets try and not focus on exceptions. God made it to work the way He made it to work and it works properly for the VASTY majority of women. Second, what is most likely the case, and it is really impossible to get away from actual physics. If you were breast feeding that much and not losing the weight, then you were eating too much. There is just no getting away from calories in vs exercise and calories out. Metabolism plays a role but it is limited.

@@j.p.5716have you been pregnant before and had to lose baby weight? If not, how do you know what it is like for “most women”? God made all of us beautifully and different from each other. That also means that we all carry weight differently. Some people might be able to lose baby weight easily but a lot of people don’t and that is okay. Just because you aren’t “traditional” doesn’t mean you are messed up. I haven’t been pregnant before but I know that it will take longer to lose baby weight because I have struggles losing weight in general. I don’t lose it as easily as others in normal life so I can assume it won’t change from breastfeeding. Also, not all women are able to only breastfeed but they can lose weight normally so I don’t think your theory is foolproof.
