I’m bigger, almost 6’ 4” tall. Was just over 280 pounds in April and am down to the high 220 pounds range, would like to hit 200 or so within one year since starting. All from cycling. Love your success.

Im glad you came out and said it. Loosing that much weight that fast at a deficit like that isnt healthy. But it looks like it worked!

It's so inspiring to see you get to this point and stick with it to reach for even greater achievements. I was worried maybe the split caused you to drop out and quit. Just finding this channel this week and working my way through chronologically - stealing bits of training advice along the way! Thanks for sticking with it. Your fans are grateful!

Thanks for sharing. Your weight loss story is incredible really hoping I can do the same. I’ve experienced the same thing, you can’t get good training when you’re in a deficit. Training for an Ironman gets me on the see-food diet, I see food I eat it.

That was helpful to hear the chronology of your weight loss and cycling journey. You mentioned at min 2:43 you started “feeling” your rides. What does that mean? Did I hear that correctly? I couldn’t tell if you said feeling or filming but the subtitles picked up feeling your rides. I am assuming it is filming that you said and that helped. If so, how did that help?

Awesome man! I love life changing stories! I myself started at 269lbs Jan this year, dropped down to 225 so far, keeping it slow and steady. Looking for that same 180lb range. I was a competitive bodybuilder for years. So now Im trying to lose upper body muscle since the weight kills the hills. I'm familiar with weightloss and macros as that's been my life for years, but cycling is completely different than bodybuilding, I'm trying to learn what kind of macros to set. I'm currently trying a base calorie of 2200 plus 50% of my calories burned in my rides each day and tracking weight, but I'm losing weight too fast on big ride weeks, so idk. I'm still trying to figure out the best setup. I'd love to know what you end up doing after racing this season for your diet. You doing great, keep on it bro! Put in the work, looking forward to the big race!

You were doing approx 1000 deficit with the exercise included. I use garmin and it averages that I burn lets say 700 calories through the day. I then do a ride burning 1000 calories. That puts me at 1700. I start the day with 1500 right now. So realistically am I looking at 2200 calories that I should eat at the bare minimum with everything adding up to 3200?
@Ejstrainingcamp Жыл бұрын
Yes 👍
@fu5ha_edits Жыл бұрын
Bare minimum too! Most research for fat loss while maintaining as much muscle mass as possible (which is what you want) say deficit should be only 300-500.

What's your target for a zone 2 ride? % of max hr? How long would the average session be? Your weight loss is incredible. I went from 180lbs to 150lbs and it made a huge difference in my own health. Keep it up 💪 Did you say 200g protein? How do you consume that much?
@pjetrs Жыл бұрын
Basically whatever works for you, every hour Z2 is beneficial and anything between 60-78% HR globally speaking. Maybe for fat burning more on the lower end. Check out some trainerroad podcasts, they often discuss these kind of things. And podcasts can be combined nicely with a Z2 ride ;)
@Ejstrainingcamp Жыл бұрын
That’s an amazing achievement! Congratulations on that weight loss! @pjetrs nailed the zone 2 question as for the protein Shakes, and lean proteins really help. Like chicken and Turkey meat.
@tewaewae Жыл бұрын
Hey EJ. zone 2 training was power or heart rate?
@Ejstrainingcamp Жыл бұрын
Power but subject to change by heart rate. Say it’s a hot day then lower the power to match your heart rate. That’s what worked for me!

The post-sports weight gain is real. I was pushing three bills a couple of years after football in college, so I know exactly what it takes to drop that much mass and the temptation to take self-destructive shortcuts there out of raw motivation. (Ten years later I still can only step on the scale two or three times a month if I want to stay sane). Kudos for realizing the trajectory you were on and taking steps to do things the right way. Tough to tell this story period, but also tough to tell it without indulging the thirst for drama, so kudos there as well.
