We've used them before they are awesome. I was afraid they wouldn't work on this staircase because it was so steep and the file cabinets are so smooth on all sides. We got them all out in 30min with the dolly though!

Have been watching you for awhile now! Great info! You and another great individual who uploads to KZbin have gave me the information and the courage to get out there and start making some cash from trash! It's a very rewarding job. And so far so good! Already plugged a few tires :) Business cards coming in soon. I think my professional logo, for me around my area, sets me apart along with being licensed and insured.(Which most junk removal companies don't look to be), besides one bigger company. And of course a job well done.

This takes me back to my Moving and Storage days. You should look into using Hump Straps or the Forearm Forklift for larger items and stairs. Much easier than a dolly! Also, for estimating weight on household goods, we always used 7lbs/cu ft. I'm curious how that compares to what you find?
@SteveConroy1
@SteveConroy1 4 жыл бұрын
We've used the Forearm Forklift before! Someone lost it (classic). What we ended up doing after that first one was me pulling and Connor pushing the whole way. DIdn't stop on each step. All 15 file cabinets took us 25 min. File cabinets are always a pain. Especially if they're fireproof!

How much would you charge for a full garage clean out like the first house. I know you have price points, would it just be a full trucks load or by tonnage?

Great video! Question for you, at the end when you subtract the $600 from your total, what’s included in that $600?
@SteveConroy1
@SteveConroy1 4 жыл бұрын
Great question Alan! I use $600 in the videos as a general number for my expenses (truck payments, insurance, gas, advertising etc.) You can find this number for your own business by adding up all of your expenses at the end of each month and divide by 30 (days in the month). This will give you the number you spend each day to keep your company running.

Does that 600 include the pay of your helper for the day?
@SteveConroy1

@@joewellrivera The $600 I use is a rough number that covers all expenses for the day (insurance, truck/trailer payments, advertising, etc.) So yes it includes that and everything else you would be paying daily.

Hey man, thanks for the vids. Do you get the CC up front and then charge them after the dump? It's kind of risky to do the dump and then ask for payment, but you seem to add/remove charges for the dump fee's and so I'm confused. Thanks
@SteveConroy1
@SteveConroy1 4 жыл бұрын
Nine times out of ten I take payment after the job is complete. If the material is in any way heavy, I tell them we'll check weight at the dump and I will bill then at days end. That is also a conversation I have with them before we book the. job. I only. do it this way because I want to be fair to the customer and to myself. A residential full load pick up rarely goes over 1 ton and if it does its like 20 bucks. I don't want to eat that $20 so I pass is on to the customer. I could just charge a flat fee of say $50 if I think it would be over weight and accept payment before we left but the customer would not like that and it's not fair to them. I never remove charges for the dump fee though, so I'm not sure where you're getting that. But if I'm mistaken please let me know! Happy to answer your questions brother!

I know you mentioned before that you cover 1 ton in your pricing per load. When you go over a ton do you just prorate the extra weight? Or if you’re doing multiple loads And the next load doesn’t quite make a ton do you just call it even?
@SteveConroy1
@SteveConroy1 4 жыл бұрын
All weight after 1 ton is prorated. If we pull a half truck and I think it's going to be over the weight we cover for that size load, but we have to fill the rest of the truck up before we go to the dump, I do my best to judge that cost after we dump.
@alanmorales1605
@alanmorales1605 4 жыл бұрын
@@SteveConroy1 to add to this question, so if you go over the weight you quoted, do you go back and charge the customer more? I heard in a couple of your videos that you invoice some clients, does that mean they pay later? Or do you collect as soon as you load the truck?
@SteveConroy1

How do you price these jobs? Do you charge them after for the weight of the junk?
@SteveConroy1
@SteveConroy1 3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes we do. If most of the items we are loading are heavier than usual, I will tell the customer we need to check weight at the dump and will invoice them at the end of the day. If they want to settle up right then and there I do my best to assume what the extra weight will be (easy to do with lots of experience) and will tack that onto the invoice.

Hey man so I see you pick up a lot of peoples junk but in this video I noticed you thrown that old clock in with that junk and I mean a lot of the Furniture and the desks and all the lamps and stuff like that and The Statues and everything. Could be worse money to other people you should open up a store like a goodwill something like that and sell those for money so the junk that people don’t want other people will find as gold that Clock you thrown away was easily worth 202 $400. I’m not saying collect peoples junk buy some of the stuff that you pick up is worth go to people people flip furniture all the time you could sell that instead of taking it to the junk and that would save you big. You’re on a gold mind and by the way you have motivated me so much through your videos I’ve kind of calculated on how much you probably make a month but I might be off by a lot. But I do think you make at least 40 grand a month if your making 1500$ or 2000 a day your amazing bro much love
@SteveConroy1

There’s DEFINITELY money in resale but that’s not my focus right now. If we have time to, we will keep and off load items at the shop and re sell them. That in itself is a full time job. Following up with every person interested in each item, dealing with them wanting a lower price and then if you DO agree on a cost and they say they’ll come pick it up, waiting for them to come do so and more often than not they no show. Having a store would solve these problems but you’ve gotta start one business at a time!
