Great story. I won the bid on one of those older vans back in 1997 at Manhiem auction. Went out to go test drive it and it was a manual transmission... LOL...boy was I mad at myself! I never looked inside because it sounded so cheap! Same thing happened to the guy that bought it back from me at the auction the next week..lol

Caravans are the unsung heroes of America's suburbs. They're a worthless form of disposable transportation that is engineered just well enough to run long-term with minimal maintenance, which means they're accessible to the poor, those with many children, or people who just need a cheaper alternative to a pickup truck for runabout jobs. I bought one from a co-worker who was moving out of state for $200. A purple short wheelbase 1998 3.3L. Everyone told me not to buy it. Tires were roached, hadn't done an oil change for 16,000 miles, half the electronics were burnt out, no AC, no radio, odometer keeps resetting itself so we have no idea how many miles it has. It helped me move. It helped lots of people move. It went on camping trips. I even did an auto meet and tried driving it fast on a twisty hill for the heck of it (bad idea). Then my DD got wrecked and life took a turn for the worse, meaning I don't have the money to replace it. That piece of junk $200 Caravan is my DD now and I'm glad I bought it.
