Hi there :)
This is the very first crafting/modelling/kitbashing video for this channel, and it is for a grimdark-themed bunker build that is packed with little details. I have been making terrain for tabletop gaming for just over a year so I am very much still at the early stages of learning how to make things. As such, I rely a lot on the expertise of the many incredible builders that are already showing people like myself how it's done.
This build incorporates many different ideas and techniques, many of which were taken from the following KZbin channels, so please consider visiting them and subscribing.

Good work, and welcome to the world of terrain crafting. (The shell casings not matching Bolters is hardly a big deal. It's an Imperial bunker. It's been manned by everything from Guard and PDF militia, to gangs, to Sisters of Battle, to Chaos cultists or rebels, to Ork raiders. It gets passed around constantly. That there's a few shell casings is to be expected.)

Quick tip from my end: If you want to pump out sand bags like a mad man, go grab some Blue Stuff and replicate the sand bags from the new Cadia Stands army box. They have the perfect size for Guard and have authentic details like seams and knots. You should definitely try that out some time! Other than that: Awesome work, I am so glad I stumbled upon your channel by accident - keep it up!

What about the base? Is it card stock or something?
@thedefector
@thedefector Жыл бұрын
Great question! That’s one of the details that I forgot to cover. The base itself is chipboard that I took from the back of an old wardrobe. Once I had the shape that I was looking for I bevelled the edges with a knife. I then made a mixture of ready mixed filler, PVA glue, and black paint, with lots of sand and small stones added to the mixture. After that was applied to the base, and given time to dry, I painted it with a dark grey followed by a couple of layers of dry-brushed light grey. Hope that helps :)

How do you keep boards from warping?
@thedefector
@thedefector Жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the board for this was made from chipboard from the back of an old wardrobe. In my terrain builds video the bases were made from plasticard (at least I hope it is because that's what I've been telling people...) and I'm assuming that the texture mix that I placed on to the boards doesn't contract enough to warp anything. I would stay away from using card though. It doesn't like moisture at all.
