How I Made a KAIJU Short Film

RESTRICTED ZONE follows a lone soldier (Jesse Gruber) who ventures into a forbidden, irradiated forest and discovers a cracked egg, realizing too late that a monstrous kaiju is on the loose. The film was written, directed, animated, edited, and scored by Cole McCormack. Inspired by iconic giant monster films like Godzilla and Cloverfield, the idea behind this project was to create a kaiju horror film with a terrifying atmosphere. Outside of kaiju media, other influences include the Alien franchise, the SCP Foundation, Half Life, and The Green Knight. This was the culmination of months and months of effort from someone who is a complete newbie at VFX and blender as a whole. So, enjoy!
